Day 48: 13K / CDT Thru-hike 2024

I intend to hike the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) in 2024 and will vlog my experience. Follow me under "Old Man and the CDT."
I am Mike Current, 61-years-old, and retired military. I served for over 30 years in the US Army.
After retirement, I opened two small businesses. But after a few years, I sold both businesses because they were taking time away from pursuing personal goals, like hiking and sailing.
I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in 2020 and Appalachian Trail (AT) in 2022. I vlogged (video journaled) my experiences under "Old Man and the PCT" and "Old Man and the AT", respectively.
I sailed around the Chesapeake Bay in my Tayana 37 sailboat over the summer of 2023 and vlogged the experience under the KZread channel "Old Man and the Sea."
I do not monetize my videos in any manner. However, if you would like to contribute to helping veterans thru-hike as a form of therapy for PTSD, please consider donating to Warrior Expeditions at warriorexpeditions.org/

Really love the video collection! Do, however, wish you'd call out names of prominent trail features (e.g., lakes, passes, mountains, etc). We're not all using the same mile points, so it's difficult to tell where you are at times.

Hi Mike - Another great adventure. You guys are doing a fantastic job. Tell me, is early bird pulling the old man along or you stopping a lot to take picture. She looks like a strong hiker and always ahead. On your rest day you ought to interview her, would love to know her history. And congratulations on 13K feet. I get tired watching you climb. Be Strong, Be Safe, and thanks for taking us on this journey.

Wow! 20K miles on the AT is a great day. 20K at over 12K elevation on the CDT is phenomenal and a testament to your and EBs conditioning. Love the marmot shots and even a chipmunk each waiting for your attention to waver from your food packs. Mac

Awesome. I think the Colorado trail's Highest point is 13, 200 something. There are a lot of 14ers ahead of you, I don't think you have to go over them unless you want to. I bet the altitude is a decent trade off for these 90 plus day's. Great job.

Marmots , AKA Camp Robbers. Likely not an issue for you as your camp is always attended. Great video plus you timed the weather perfectly through this section.

Morning, Mike. 13,000 ft. Congrats. Have you experienced any major effects from the altitude? I hope not. The scenery was awesome. I think marmots are so cute. There sure were a lot of them today. Ya'll are doing great. Moving right along. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.
