Day 3 LDFD23 - Big problems for Minty and a couple other Cruisers!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Day 3 is a show stopper for Minty, I was devastated that only on Day 3 that this was the end for Minty on Long Drive For Drought. After telling Aliyah that this is it for us and taking a good 30 minutes, and talking to a number of the crew plus the local Police we have come up with a plan of some real bush mechanics. (Yes there was talk about machining and making a new key way, as well as Scotch key) but due the remote location and being a Sunday with nothing being open when went with the option that would get us back on the road, we also looked at finding a second motor and doing a motor swap.
A big thank you to the Cunnamulla local Police and the MaryAnn for there help and hospitality.
plus the LDFD crew.

You continue to amaze and inspire me as someone who can barley change an oil pan on my FJ40. Really amazing talent.

Thanks for your support mate, we all start somewhere.
Despite the emotional roller-coaster, great to see the 'make it work ', can do attitude, really cool to see. Sure, not ideal, but onwards and upwards 👍
Glad to see you got the troopy back on the road! Love the community support, including police officers!

Outback communities and locals are always willing to help!
Now i know what you mean about welding the harmonic balancer to the crank, and your still driving it today. Good bit of bush mechanics. Catch up in the new year.
How good, just how good

Spot on mate, when out away from workshops and on a charity drive you don't want to give up on, you do what can to keep going.
Josh was awesome when our trip went #offtrack (hahaha) on our way to Sydney, he stopped and helped us out while he was towing his rig back ......👍

Thank you mate, it was a great relief to get it back on the road again and continue the trip!
Extreme repair. The beauty of the old design how things can be jury-rigged. Probably won't do the crank much good, lol. Let us know if you need a hand anywhere.

Yep, it was an extreme repair. The next choice was to change out the engine, but then I would have left this engine behind. So this was the quickest way of getting back on the road and not lose the engine. Yes the crank and bottom end bearing would not be very healthy. But looking at new engine conversion for Minty. Thanks for the support
Nice to see you guys doing what’s good for life what engine do you guys have on this engines thanks
