On day 13 of my "Talk to Camera" challenge, I make my case for the analog Zettelkasten versus the digital PKM tools out there. If you can relate to me in this, try it and experience it for yourself. What do you have to lose?

Dear Chadrick, this is the best video I have seen about Zettelkasten (and believe me, I have seen many, many). You have helped me tremendously in choosing the Analog format, especially because I also have ADHD and this is the first time I have seen a video where there is a relationship between Analog system-people with ADHD. Your video is not only inspirational, but a great help! Apps and digital formats are good, great aids, but they are not for everyone! For a person like me with ADHD, the digital format and apps, are truly intellectual suicide!!!! Thank you very much and God bless you!

A, this is the Video you referred to. I must have been blind, while searching for it! I watch later on comment on it.

I relate to this very much. I spend a lot more time thinking about the system than about the thoughts itself. And whenever I write digitally I spend more time thinking about formatting the note and making it look tidy than about what I'm writing, and I feel that after so many notes nothing has really stuck to my brain. I recently changed to a disc bound notebook where I can move pages around to keep different topics together, and I can see clearly in my brain what I wrote, where it is, and as I write it down I can feel my thoughts flowing with it. When it comes to personal knowledge, writing slowly and having time to to really process the information is not a bug, it's a feature.

I use Obsidian. What I need is to get information from PDFs and access that quickly based on a query or tag. I never know what I will eventually use it for until I actually need it. The time I would have to spend creating note cards precludes using it as a solution. I cannot query so many highlighted elements and annotations so quickly as Obsidian. I can port all that information to Scrintal without missing a beat. (Scrintal might be my next move.) So, whatever comes along that is more flexible, more functional is seamless, so long as it supports markdown and its linking feature.

That’s an information retrieval system, not a knowledge management system. This is the error 99% make and thus produce no profound works

Very insightful Chadrick. You really inspire me to further my investigation into the analog route. Subbed.

I like your insights on Analog Zettelkasten vs Digital. This video has really helped me decide on how I am going to take the Zettelkasten approach.

Chadrick, Just a subtle reminder, in the last couple videos you made your “On Air” light isn’t on. Thank you also for suggesting I look up the definition of “glue man”. Pete

Thanks for the video, I am on the journey of finding a good PKM tool that suits my needs and as a young person (also a programmer haha), I am constantly trying to learn new things and there are various distractions such as getting stuck or becoming too dependent of some software, and it is very overwhelming to see the tons of information that there is these days and how can I retain all. I appreciate the advice and experience you share, it helps a lot. Excuse my bad english.

@@yogurt50003 I'm glad this video has helped. I really hope you find a tool that works for you. If you try to create an analog Zettelkasten, please let me know how it goes. God bless.

Very good video (and my introduction to your channel - hello!) I've been thinking about the same for a while, and that's also the reason I stopped using emacs after uni: Every time I started it up, I found myself working on emacs rather than working on my projects :) As for the "productiviy tool comparison" videos, it's a cottage farm. Just like the EDC channels. Digital consumerism.

Your completely right. I've spent so much time setting up my Obsidian vault and templates. I'm looking at Zettelkasten, but I'm not sure it fits for me. I too work in IT, and I'm not sure I can break things down small enough for a single 6x4 card. I'll keep researching before I decide.

Story of my life bro... And came to the same conclusion....just pick a system and move on, even if it's not perfect.
