The late Mr Mohammed served under the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources for 15 years and was 45 years old and held the position as Manager Mines.
Mr. Mohammed, entered the workforce in April 1997 when he was a Management cadet with the Emperor Gold Mines in Vatukoula. In March 2007, he was the Mine Manager in PT. Gemala Borneo Utama, West Kalimantan in Indonesia until November 2008.
He joined the Ministry in December 2008 as the Senior Mining Technical Officer in the Mining Division at MRD before being confirmed to the position of Senior Mining Engineer in December 2013. Mr. Mohammed was given acting responsibilities as Principal Mining Engineer in March 2014, later recognised to act as Manager Mines and was appointed to the post in May 2015. In June 2020, Mr. Mohammed became the Acting Director Mineral Development for close to three years until the return of the incumbent, Dr. Apete Soro in October this year.
During his employment, Mr. Mohammed attained the following qualifications :
2002 National Diploma in Metalliferous Mining, University of South Africa.
July 10th - Dec 2013 Bachelor of Mining Engineering from Curtin University, Western Australian School of Mines, Perth, Western Australia.
Jan 2017 - July 2018 Master of Science in Mineral Economics, Curtin Graduate School of Business, Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia.
Funeral notice: His body will be uplifted from Suva Morgue this afternoon and will be directed to his residence in Vakabalea, Navua. Note that this will be a two days coverage.
