I never hold back tears, I do some at first lol, but nah I'll let it out, and never have I had a anyone think I'm weak or whatever, but I'm not an average male and there's no question lol, plus usually I get angry when I start crying or whatever, growl and crap lol, for as far as females it'll usually break them... especially when they know I'd hunt someone down for them or whatever being their protector, same as guys....I hold everything on my shoulders for anyone close to me...same for animals lol which I'm guessing why I'm so good with animals, especially dogs, even if not mine, or little kids the parents aren't the best of taking care of

Like Ecclesiastes says, there's a time for everything under the sun. There's a time to mourn, and a time to hold it together. I think knowing the difference is part of learning to become a man. Sometimes you cry to God alone. But, let it out before it destroys you.

First and foremost thank you for your service. Thank you for such a great reaction. I'm subbing. As a single mother with 3 kids I had to learn how to be a man and it was super hard to try and keep up. My boys needed things it was difficult to provide. From working 2 jobs to provide, sports, fixing vehicles, household repairs/ remodeling, protecting my daughter, and much much more. With my father a veteran also and brother over 1500 miles away through it all. Luckily, I was able to have them during the summer to take over the role. I feel you. I too have been depressed (...) Most my single life. There is too much weight and society's expectation. BIG hands up to all men who can carry the weight. Don't let self-care slide. You can't do the job without it. ❤

Hey brother, My whole family are Veterans. My 70yr old mother was a Marine, My father was a Green Beret Vet in Vietnam rescuing POW's. (literally Rambo), Brother an AirBorne Army Ranger, and I myself was in for a short time. My father with PTSD and Alcohol held a gun to my mothers head while she was pregnant with me and she left him. I never met the man before he passed in 2016 and the 2 step fathers I had were not educated and didn't teach us anything meaningful. I've gone through a ton of junk in my life but I have an amazing mind (I think?!) If you or anyone else need to vent or whatever pls don't hesitate.

As a White male in my 60's who also served this country and experienced my fathers death from his own hand and my mothers death by the same means 5 months later. That was 42 years ago. Hearing you say you had thought at one time of self harm brought tears to my eyes. Every day I wake up, I thank the lord and know that I have unfinished work here on earth. Know that there are brothers and sisters out there who want to help with any emotional support you might need. I wish you all the success you can find in your life my brother, God bless you.

Older Army Vet here and when I first heard this song I didn't realize how close to the surface this is.I wanted all women to hear it and listen and understand. Life is hard when you carry the weight as expected every single day. My mother said to support your wife's feelings and dreams above my own. Tell her only what she needs to know is what my father told me. Sometimes it hard being on that wall but I do it proudly. Sometimes its hard when the hard times come which are more often than not it seems. The Army taught us to complete the mission so my family has always been mine. Keep Strong Brother you got it!

I used to have this bad habit of thinking my personal issues weren't important enough to talk about because I have a few buddies that served in Iraq and Afghanistan so I'd bottle everything up and tell myself that I'm not allowed to have mental issues because I didn't serve in the military. I eventually had a breakdown and talked to my girlfriends step dad who served for 25 years and was an E-7. He told me it doesn't matter if you wore a uniform or not, everyone has their own struggles and it doesn't mean that my issues aren't any less important. I build powerlines for a living and had an arc flash accident in front of my face and got burnt up pretty bad and had to spend 2 weeks in a burn unit and had skin graft surgeries. While my face was burnt I felt like less of a human to my gf because I didn't wanna go outside the house and show my burnt up face. It was rough until I healed up from it. I still have some burn scars and wrinkles on my face but it's not as bad as it was for the first 3 months after the accident.

I didn't get to serve our country because I was diagnosed with cancer at 17 but I always wanted to . My little brother was a Navy Seebee and my dad was a Marine in Vietnam two tours. Just know if you need to talk to someone I'm here and you are appreciated. More then you understand ok!

I know you posted this 2 months ago but living in the same area I wanted to get in my car and come give you a fucking hug. I'm not sure what was harder to hear the song or that you didn't think you were worth enough. I may not know you personally but you are a human being no person should ever believe they are worthless. God loves all his children and each one of us matter to him. God knew what he was doing when he gave you your son. Becoming a parent makes the world look different the big things don't seem so big and the small things become much more important. You seem like a good man the fact you took the time to go to parenting classes speaks volumes. Always remember you will never be worthless to your son and he will always need you even when he's 60. ❤ 🇺🇲
