That wheel...alone makes this a cool device coz it allows you to edit pretty smoothly by viewing frames..I got one recently and it's wicked...

I have the speed editor because it came with a license for Studio and in the analog days of editing, my editor had a two jog wheels, 1 for the source tape and 1 for the record tape. Thanks!

I also learned the craft on S-VHS, making documentaries in the nineties. Long time ago. I do remember it was very fast and immediate, a bit like editing now (again).

@@greywolf9292 When I bought my Speed Editor that came with the License in 2021 the total price was $295, so I'm not positive it is free. I have never seen editing hardware from DR go up in price. Maybe there now charging $100 for the License W/editor.

@@greywolf9292 Yes, it comes with a credit card with the activation code on it good for 2 machines. I paid $400.00 for the editor 4 months ago and love it. You can check with any retailer who sells the Speed Editor for further verification if you wish. Have Fun!

I'm thinking about buying this whenever I'm ready to afford the Studio version of DaVinci. I figure if I'm gonna spend that much on the license, I might as well add a few extra to also get the speed editor.

Yes, I have it. The multi-cam buttons should be reassignable, in my opinion. I kinda miss that. For the rest it's great. The Jog wheel is one of the finest, even when compared to professional broadcast systems.

This thing looks cool, saw a tips video yesterday on markers that said if you hold the marker button down a little circle pops up so you can quick select the color of the marker with the wheel. There must be so many little tips for this thing!

As a professional editor i haved try it for several weeks. Its build quality is very good indeed but finally i sold it. The reason is that its buttons are not configurable (you can't configure buttons to trim start-end to Playhead) and jog-shuttle is way slower than mouse. With a mouse you can instantly move to any position in timeline with the simple movement of your hand and change the speed accordingly to speed of your moving hand. It's a waste of money and time.

It depends... For example you can change the duration of a transition by holding the 'trans dur' button and turn the dial

Deffo worth it if you haven't bought a license yet, otherwise it would be a rather expensive accessory on its own.

No don’t worry, it was a little mistake of mine. Basically for a little more money you can get the speed editor and it comes with studio for free 👍

If y buy any device from them the studio version comes along free...not the other way around...I bought it and the studio lisence came inside the box...

Is it possible to, say, take it apart? For scientific purposes, of course. I'd replace the stock switches to something more,... exotic? And publish the results on KZread, of course :D

Please can you confirm this is Free with the Studio version, currently retailing at £245.00 in your link, if so I'll be buying the Studio version having not even yet delved into the free one which I downloaded yesterday. The Speed Editor comes with a Studio license, so as long as you buy it new, you'll get the Studio license with it.

@@greywolf9292no problem. You can actually see in the beginning of this video when he’s unboxing the Speed Editor, you see a card with the license to DaVinci Resolve Studio 17. This license works to unlock whichever version is currently the latest one.

I considered it, but there are a few drawbacks: - I already have a (nice) keyboard, with switches, which does the same. - With synths, mice, nearfield monitors, a synth, and a controller keyboard, my desk is full! - I use my keyboard for Davinci Resolve but also Bitwig and Logic Pro (DAWs) - The price is substantial. While the Speed Editor is roughly the price of the software (Studio) version. If you're serious about editing, it's a good piece of kit. The jog wheel is very high quality.

It comes with studio at a very similar price. Some years ago when I got Studio I didn’t expect to get the speed editor so it was a suprise to me when it came 😂

It is 3 years old already. I rather prefer to wait for a new model
