I have watched numerous videos on this subject. This one is without a doubt, the very best. I am recommending it to DaVinci as a go to video, for anyone attempting to use their editor.
Awesome tutorial. I had seen a few others, and I was deep into it trying some advanced features and getting stuck. Nobody had bothered to explain in detail like you have done. Liked and subscribed in an instant. Thank you so much.

This was useful. Definitely helped me understand the edit page a bit better. I'm switching from Premiere Pro!
Howdy Quanta Either one can teach or one can't. Before I render my verdict here, let me give a couple of bonafides. I began editing in 1986 linear style and then later every so often I'd use the new method. Most of my big time vids are behind me now and I just wish I would have had D 18.5 at the time. Someone mentioned it on a vid about something else so I looked it up. Yesterday I found enough buttons to put audio to a video file...with much difficulty using only stone tools. THEN....I went looking for howtos. The last one I looked at was this one and Quanta..you got the knack. I learned more from you in the first 15 minutes than all the rest put together. I'm completely amazed that this program is offered for free. Jeez! But back to you. Ya done good. You presented what we need to know in, precise chronological order, building to the more complex. The other guys tried but failed. I salute you. This video will be kept near for further reference as I try out all the goodies. Thanks 10 billion! Your fan, Norm
Excellent video.. I found it extremely helpfula nd wanted to say thank you.
It took me a few days to stop/start, but I really enjoyed your explanations. I am looking forward to doing my first edit with DaVinci.

You are among the very few who can teach software well. You don't speak down to the uninitiated or accidently omit steps in a process. Your explanations are details and thorough. Congratulations for a job exceptionally done. I've become a subscriber to your channel.

Yes, very true. Particularly for color management. But, this would've been quite involved and perhaps a bit much for beginners.
i just spent $295 on this software... and when i opened it up for the first time i was so overwhelmed... I HAD NO CLUE where to even begin LOL... then, i came across this video tutorial, and i LOVE it... thank you much... i am very interested in learning more and more about the Fusion and Color features, as well as how to best edit 4K HDR recorded content

Thanks, man. Appreciate the watch and comment!
Hey Quanta, thank you so much for putting this video together and making the beginner steps so easy for me to learn DaVinci Resolve. I've imported my clips and been working on them, however, I have some overexposed elements in the centre of the video screen where the main studio lighting was too powerful/bright and my singer was wearing white and is overexposed. Everybody else on stage is fine. Colour is good. It's just my main subject is overexposed and I'm thinking it's because of the poor gamma latitude on the sensor that is used in my 7D Mark II. I've tried to pull the levels down using the 'highlights' features you showed here but to no avail. Are there any other settings I can use to reduce the overall brightness besides the 'offset' master? And does da Vinci resolve have a 'sharpen' option? Does 'superscale' have anything to do with sharpening video? First time use are here and would really love your input. I can use the rest of your videos to help me sort the rest out. Cheers.
Nice job. Just seeing the edit page was worth the price of admission.

You're very welcome. Glad it was helpful.
Hello, I had issues attempting to start the program once it was installed. I don't know why but my two attempts at both version 18 and 18.5 did not add or show the (simple) start or action of starting the application, and it wasn't until I found the actual shortcut by looking into the install files on the c:\ that I could start the program up, send the .exe file to the desktop as a shortcut etc... It was frustrating that it wasn't on the program tab from the start menu either. Even though I'm very familiar with computer systems, this baffles me and it took me a few (precious) days to figure it out!!! I just needed to point this out to you to maybe show a directions video to do this for those that are having this problem... cheers
THANKS A LOT FOR NO JUST TEACHING US BUT TEACHING US WITH "PATIENCE' AND YES NOW I FEEL MORE SECURE TO START EDITING WIT DAVINCI RESOLVE BECAUSE YOU TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN NEATLY ALMOST WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF EVERY ICON OR BOTTOM Y THE INTERFACE. THANK AGAIN Y AND KEEP YOUR AWESOME JOB!

I am In!
Thank you for this wonderful beginners guide. The only complaint I have is it made me hungry.
Nice intro to your video, the stereo music was bouncing back to each of my ears in turn, weirdly. But great tutorial 👍
Thank you. Question: when importing clips, let's say from my external drive, are the clips being copied and stored in another file unique to DaVinci?
Nice
Greetings and thank you for the video tutorial. I have a question. Do you have any videos that show you how to separate audio tracks/clips/soundbites that where recorded on one track into single tracks? Example: Noob, begins using OBS and follows many, many instructions on how to record game play and voice commentary mic. However when finished recorded project was brought into DaVinci Resolve both the game audio and mic audio where on one track. Do you have a video showing how to separate the one track into two so it will show one track as the game sound and one track as the mic? I have tried to Google search that and use the forums on DaVinci but I don't think I have found the correct way to word it because I get everything other then what I am really looking for. Thank you for your time and I honestly look forward to watching all your tutorials, tips and tricks videos on DaVinci Resolve. Thank you so much, I am very happy I found your KZread Channel.
Thank you for this video. I'm quite happy to have davinci to replace that other software I won't mention, which crashed often and drove me NUTS. Do you know if the "Fairlight" is referring to that famous synthesizer workstation from the 80s that was way ahead of its time?
Thank you. On this video "adding transitions" it gives only 1 sec. You are able to shorten, but not lengthen that. Is there a reason for that? How to make transition longer in that kind of situation, if needed?
How could my Menu options be different for me under Workspace, shown at 5:24 (I have no View Full Screen above Layout Presets or anywhere, and under Workspace in the video, 6th one down, Media Post integration is greyed out, but on my screen is not grayed out but the arrow to the right does nothing) ? I just downloaded a few days ago. BTW I only get those 7 options at the bottom if I choose Reset UI Layout.
Not sure why, but nothing I try mirrors what you are showing, first time user- selection key highlights but doesn't do anything on the clip?
Awesome Video. I am switching from Vegas, have PP CC but, I think I really like Resolve better. You did an excellent job! Thank you. I am having a bit of trouble getting motion array templates and titles imported into DR and when I do they say they are off line. Can you do a video on Motion Array with DR.? That would be amazing! God Bless ya. TY Tami :)
