Chris "Rapid Fire" Byrd was an outstanding small heavyweight. Was a middleweight boxer in his Olympic crowned amature career and then shocked evreyone he wanted to be a heavyweight turning professional! Byrd always prefered to box bigger men as he felt more his thing in the boxing ring. Using his south-paw stance to the max and having a solid defensive boxing style made Byrd able to defeat bigger men much stronger, heavier and harder punchers. Men who would otherwise not only knocked him out but crushed him. Byrd was also gifted with an iron chin to absorb hard shots and not often credited for - very sharp single punches that could hurt bigger men, but oddly not used often by Byrd. But most of all, Chris Byrd had a lot of heart and that heart made him to a 2-time world heavyweight champion with impressive wins over; Vitali Klitschko, Evander Holyfield, David Tua and top opponents like; Jameel McCline, Jimmy Thunder, Fres Oquendo, DaVarryl Williamson, Bert Cooper, Phil Jackson, Lionel Butler, Elieser Castillo, Ross Puritty etc.

and that's why Ibeabuchi's win over him makes me wonder how he would have done against lewis lewis would be the favourite IMO because he was bigger and more skilled but Ibeabuchi could have knocked him out as well, it would have been heck of a fight that's for sure

@@theinformationbomber7102 Ike Ibeabuchi proved he was the real deal by defeating both David Tua and Chris Byrd and since both men where top opponents very different from each-other gives us the image he could have tangled with the champs very well. Yes if he could pull some fast hurting bombs on Lewis early then it is not impossible at all. But I think Lewis would have done his fight to be a very smart one as I have heard somewhere Lewis was impresed with the guy and was ecentually prepeared this guy would in 1-2 years be his mandatory. But since the guy threw away his tallent and future top level career in HW boxing with big fights against the Klitschkos, Rahman, Toney, Maskaev, Ruiz etc down the drain by getting himself criminalized and in jail we will never know.

@@WarioSaysSo I would pick Ike by KO on lewis lewis fought all HWs past their prime, he didn't beat a single HW who was on the level of Ike Ike fought 2 HWs who were the most avoided contenders at the time and he beat both of them convincingly Ike had lewis's no.

Beautiful, yet brutal ! BOTH great pugilists had their moments ! A study in masters of two contrasting styles. The Turn of the Millennium’s most feared OFFENSIVE, fighter going at it with The Turn of the Millennium’s most skilled DEFENSIVE fighter ! And BOTH were on their game ! This is TRULY the Sweet Science version of the bull and the matador !!!! 🥊

Just a masterful performance by Byrd. He spent so much of the fight doing everything that he supposedly shouldn't like laying on the ropes and circling to his right, towards Tua's lefthook and he dominated most of it in my opinion. Also, despite the fact that Tua had an anvil for a chin and Byrd slapped so much, he hurt Tua in the 8th round with a bodyshot. You can clearly see him land an uppercut @39:10 which Tua does not like at all.

I dont want to crap on Chris Byrd. I do think attributes of him are underrated like his Heart and chin. But I also think he's overrated on his list of accomplishments. He along with other fighters with an actual title reign whine about money. But when you cant have convincing victories over top opposition. When you complain to the ref more than a french soccer player looking for a yellow card, and his wholesome, soft demeanor. His mom being in his corner. Fans were never going to buy into him, that'sthe unfortunate fact. Granted those perceptions and quirks dont attribute to his skills. His issue was that he was a 215 pounder at the rise of the 250 pounders. He couldve torn it up if he were born 10 years earlier. Impressive victory over Vitali? Klitschko was winning all but 2 rounds before the torn rotator cuff. At the point that he beat Holyfield, that was when Holyfield was really a shell of his former self. Great addition to a list of accomplishnents; beating the great evander Holyfield. But still. Mccline is a weird fight. I give credit to byrd for coming up in those last rounds. Testament to his heart. I'm happy that you didnt list impressive victories over Oquendo and Golota cause my lord... You look at his face and body language. Even Byrd didnt think he won the Oquendo fight. And golota was such a close fight. Hard fought fights. Takes heart and skill to square up with those big dudes over and over again and get these close fights. Worthy of recognition but overly revered. I think is how i feel about him.

Byrd should've focussed more on upper cuts, match would've been over in 5 rounds itself Jerk at neck is enough for the opponent to land on the floor. Tua scripted his own loss.... already

Tua breathing through mouth itself indicates he's carrying unnecessary extra muscle bulk....not needed in boxing, dat will exhaust him the fastest . Muscle size is directly proportional to oxygen demand. And the posture of tua is his real enemy....how can a boxing champion always look down?? No way....he has to keep his head straight, more likely he'll get upper cuts that will land him to the floor. Shouldn't he know this. Js bulk muscle won't make him winner.
