Julia pointing out that Kemi's actual job is womens and equalities Minister is the key point, here. You've got an actor, being given some silly award (for what?), telling a government official whose job it is to help protect womens' rights, to shut up. At that point, it doesn't matter what race, gender, or sexual orientation he or Kemi is (that's buying into their narrative). He's someone who is paid to act like someone he isn't, telling someone who is paid to actuallly protect womens' rights, to not do her job.

Said this already but as an oldie, I haven't publicly heard such a thing since the 70's and many won't forget this. Plenty of us still around and still matter in terms of consuming entertainment. After all, this 'modern audience' they keep catering too never materialised but we're still here and we've taught many in the next generation to think for themselves using facts & logic. My 32 year old son, his new wife and their friends are left leaners but would be appalled at such words being directed at any woman, especially by a man.

This is off topic but vaguely related to women's rights. I've found it fascinating recently that as a 40 year old gay woman, if i mention i'm gay (or get intensely quizzed about my life until i crack) to my colleagues in their 20s, i've had 3 occasions where the next question the person asks is 'are you gay gay or bi?' or 'oh my god! me too! well, i'm bi'. I've also found that when i tick a box for work there is a choice of GAY, LESBIAN, BISEXUAL blah blah blah... why is my homosexuality different to that of male homosexuality? Why do the younger generation think a gay woman is a bisexual woman? In a short space of time (i feel old but also not that old) people i meet seem to not understand or recognise what homosexuality is. I can only conclude that people have been raised to be narcissists that don't understand love or attraction in the first place. They've never experienced not being able to pick and choose and control who they are attracted to. They have grown up swiping left and right picking and choosing... but having feelings for someone that you can't control, is that disappearing? When they can't find anyone they decide they must be different or special and give themselves a new label they just made up for attention, for victimhood attention. When it works it validates their made up identity. These people then don't realise that it is impossible to tell people who you are, they decide who you are for themselves by getting to know you. But younger people are being allowed to live the delusion that this is possible. That it's possible to pick and choose how you're perceived. They then encourage others to join them because they are deeply lonely individuals and the others do join them because they see the attention this person gets and they want in on it. it's all about a generation ignored by their parents, struggling to make friends and struggling to find meaning in their life. So they superficially impose meaning on themselves in the form of giving themselves an identity. I don't know how these broken individuals can be fixed, especially the poor confused gay kids that are being convinced to transition and having their bodies irreversibly altered, sterilised and mutilated... I just hope some of those people that would have eventually been happy just being gay don't regret it too much. But anyway, i'm not making much of a point but if there is a point to this ramble, it's that the whole trans movement, the allies, many of the trans people themselves, the pushy parents and the body modification and hormones, women (and children) not feeling safe from the pervs who are jumping on the convenient bandwagon and not being allowed to speak... all of it reeks of homophobia and misogyny. I am very concerned for where this is leading.

My nephew (who is now 20) told me that the identity sexuality was a huge trend when he was at school, but now his friends who declared identities in their teens have now dropped it. Adulthood is a reasonable reality check, I suppose. He was also telling me how his teachers were over-egging the whole mental health care thing during the pandemic. I had to laugh and I said I could easily imagine the staffroom politics of competing to look the most concerned and engaged, when the students themselves would pull out the MHC card when they wanted to go surfing or sleep in. Teachers and parents competing amongst themselves to win the ideological purity olympics has been disastrous for this generation.

It's the way Tennant waited for applause that I found most disgusting.

Celebrities do this every so often just to get some headlines and hopefully some big roles. Tennant is paying his respects to the establishment and letting them know he is loyal that's why he sacrificed his child to the non binary cult.

I have to agree. While the optics are clearly bad, stick to the most egregious point: She is a government official who's job it is to protect womens' rights, and he's telling her to "shut up"-- in other words, to not do her job. If I were her, I would have told him that if he didn't like the way I was doing my job, then vote me out. Having such hatred in you to wish the extinction of someone else just because you disagree is very sad and very telling of that person's lack of empathy for another living soul. What's worse is having such hatred and thoughts that he is able to voice openly and publicly with no immediate backlash, the backlash was delayed. Its easy to "stand up for what you believe in" when you are in a room full of people who believe the same things as you. We know that DT doesn't have integrity on this issue but if he did, he would offer to meet JK Rowling, Kemi Badenoch, Helen Joyce and Kathleen Stock and tell them TO THEIR FACES that they are wrong and should shut up and disappear. Go into a room that isn't full of people who cheer no matter what you say and see how brave you are then. I am a victim of male violence and need female clinical care for certain things (not all but if it involves taking my clothes off, I want a woman in the room). According to DT and the Labour Party this makes me a bigot. There is no word for how upsetting and offensive that is. I am sick of being told what I am and am not allowed to be afraid of and what I can and cannot do to protect myself. The straw has broken the camels back for me and I will not be voting Labour at the election on Thursday. I have started to be genuinely terrified of what is going to happen when they are elected.

Non-binary has nothing to do with sexuality. It has to do with gender identity (in other words, whether someone identifies as feminine or masculine, neither, or both.). As you've probably noticed by reading these comments, a lot of people treat people who don't meet their expectations for masculine or feminine presentation and behavior in ways no human being should treat another. Sometimes parents whose children are being treated in such a way just for who they are and how they present themselves interact on social media with other parents whose children are treated similarly, and sometimes people who care about how people treat others speak out in defense of those who are being mistreated. Why condemn a father for supporting his child?

He doesn't post, his wife does, and she doesn't post about her minor children's sexuality, just the fact that in her household they support LGBTQ. David himself has said that dislikes the idea of having social media and likes a private life when it's about his family.

Julia is the savage woman every bloke ought to be lucky enough to meet, if he manages to get himself up to snuff.

I have a daughter on her way out of her first teen year, who is troubled. She has a lot of anger in her, a lot of social anxiety, she is easily stressed, screams a lot and is sometimes violent towards me. She said - while still only twelve years old - that at least she is not trans, and that I ought to be grateful for that. (Believe me, I am.)

I have to feel sorry for children who have actor parents like Tennent who have to jump on the “Trans Ally” band wagon who claim their children are “Trans” just for the Woke clout/virtue signalling etc.

This only changes when it gets bad enough. We have to hit "rock bottom" and maybe a labour government will be the catalyst to accelerate that process.

What makes her think you have to be a eight year old boy to enjoy DW? True I have been a Whovian since I was four years old but even though both Classic Who and New Who isn't for everyone, and I have been a TellyAddict for years, and there's many a show I have rated as a re-watchable experience, they often have actors and actresses I can't stand either, but that's not a valid reason to rite the franchise off altogether.

As the West moves right (we'll see how any of this makes any difference in the months ahead [my guess is not very much]), Britain will move left. Labour might have the biggest majority in living memory and yet very few actually support them or their policies - that is the scope of failure of the Tories.

Was Dalek Tennant serious about all of this, or, as an actor, just playing to his audience? If he'd stopped his speech before those comments, I don't think too many people would have complained about it. Why what happened whit his kids

The clip really seems to have been taken out of context. It seems obvious to me that he was referencing Badenoch's efforts to make life more difficult for trans people, not Badenoch herself, when he spoke of her 'not existing' - and then, hearing the applause, realized what he said could have been taken as a personal attack, and corrected himself (but without giving the context specifying he wanted her to 'shut up' with regards to human rights for trans people). Wanting Badenoch to shut upon about trans rights is completely understandable because she opposes trans rights. If she supported human rights for all human beings, and if she believed that every human being should be treated with dignity, courtesy, and respect, there would be no reason whatsoever to wish for her to shut up. Opposing human rights for trans people has absolutely nothing to do with advocating human rights for women! It is not Badenoch's job at all to oppose human rights for anyone. (Also, while everyone is entitled to their own opinion about any television show, to imply that Doctor Who is liked only by 8-year-old boys is ridiculous).

I actually agree with Tennant and I fully understand why he is the way he is. His kid is different, and he wants to protect his kid against the world. I get it, I understand it, and if I were in his shoes I would be the same way. Unlike the people in this video, I don't wish Tennant harm, I don't feel any anger towards him - he is doing what he feels is right for his kid. Having said all that, I think Tennant is crazy! The damage he is doing to his kid is incalculable. I suppose it all depends on where he is coming from - if he is an egotistical narcissist, just using his kid as an accessory, then he is pure evil. If he is genuinely confused though, if he really believes he's doing the right thing...well that's just sad. I have empathy for him. I suppose it's difficult to know the right thing to do - surely he wants to do the best thing for his kid, it's very sad if he thinks this is the right thing to do. It can only end in tears. For me, the worst thing about taking a definite road is there's no way back, no one ever likes to admit they are wrong. Imagine the horror of going through surgery, of having your child go through with the operation, of supporting the mutilation...then having your child change their mind!!! Can you imagine the guilt and the shame you would feel? It would haunt you all the way through your next life. I suppose he thinks he's doing the right thing - the only thing he is really doing is doubling down and not giving himself an escape plan. God help him if his kid wakes up one day and says "dad, why did you let me do this to myself?".

I do want Tennant to lose work because like Julia I can’t stand his acting but more seriously the people need to vote with their wallets, as people in the US did with Budlite and Target. This is how we win!

Yep. one of the basic beliefs of feminism is that gender is a social construct. This whole trans thing is just the outcome of taking that bad idea to its logical conclusion.

You're mistaken. They may agree but politics are irrelevant. This is not a right wing position. It's a world one versus a far left minority who always existed in the usual places. Arts & entertainment, public service and academia. Their megaphone came via social media initially censoring dissent. That's ending. Some access media changed sides. Pandering entertainment loses money/audiences hand over fist. We'll likely get more before it comes crashing down but it's coming as it was only our silencing that made them believe they had no opposition. A male actor telling a female politician for womens' rights to SHUT UP about protecting women? Haven't seen the like since the 70's. They're going down.
