I really like the darker shade he used to have to his voice (more operatic). But he still pulls that out every now and then. He is undoubtedly the best tenor in this time.

Best version of the GVB ever. These 4 voices were so well balanced and blended.

Mark is such a sweetheart! He actually gave Bill the first tape of David to listen to, so w/o Mark David might not have been in Gaither VB.

In an old interview, Mark mentioned that Reggie Smith began doing a couple cruise performances with the vocal band in order find his groove with the group and once he heard David it basically pushed Reggie out the way
This was so beautifully done David Phelps & Austin Brown are the best Tenors that have walked the face of this earth

I like to of fell through the floor when i found out that David had recorded this song. That is one of my very most fa orite old songs..mainly the words and melody..Yes Little is much, When God is in it... Thanks again for posting this and may God bless you!
I grew up in a family that loved Southern Gospel music...your description imagining the way fans of the genre and GVB reacted is spot on, lol. I was a teen when David Phelps joined the group and I remember watching the first Gaither Homecoming videos in which he was featured and thought, "That's like the best singer there, right?" But I doubted my reaction, wondering if youth rendered me uneducated or uncultured to that point. Apparently I had a good ear, even then, because he was then the best singer in that studio, and is now even better than he was then. He's remarkably talented, well educated musically, and driven to push himself through practices and exercises to keep his body developing and strong for the music he makes.

The comedy bit before David sang was funny. I believe many of us born again Christians, at some times in our lives, feel as if we are not doing enough as witnesses for Jesus Christ where we are, BUT we are witnessing for HIM for others to see and hear through our very actions and words. So yes, Little Is Much When God Is In It!! Remember that the unsaved are paying close attention and Jesus is using you to reach the lost, unsaved.
Well, I have mentioned, " That's What Love Is", before for you to react to. However, any song you react to that David Phelps is singing to is great 👍.
