That was a cheap comeback by Moyes. He's essentially claiming that because they got the result, people can't be critical, which is such a short-sighted way of looking at things. The reality is everyone is entitled to their opinion; of which many feel Southgate once again had a negative approach, which led to them being fortunate to get the win. You can't just dismiss the obvious flaws within the team because of the result. That kind of attitude leads to complacency and a lack of progression within a side.

Crook should really know better in trying to get Moyes to agree with him on a manager making subs earlier. Moyes, like Southgate, has generally preferred letting starters remain on the field, while also being reactive with changes. They didn't call him 'Dithering Dave' at a few of his clubs for no reason. Was vehemently against permanent introduction of 5 subs too.

Did Moyes just wake up from a 10year coma? Name one tournament under Southgate where weve grown in to the competition. Its never happened. We limp tbrough games, make it difficult to beat teams we should be dispatching easily, and we lose to teams in/around our rankings. We've never started strong with impressive performances. We dont dominate any teams. In game management is nom existent. Same story in every competition. The England team displays a shocking disparity between the talent on the pitch versus the staff in the dugout. Some of those players must be wondering who the hell put him in charge

There's a fine line between being arrogant and humble. He did not come across as being humble. Moreover, there were two teams on that pitch, both trying to win. No team is going to roll over because it's England. Serbia did what they deemed correct and still lost the game. The problem is the hype around the England team on being the best set of players since whenever is in actual fact putting unnecessary pressure on the entire unit. This agenda has been created by the English media. The Media needs to manage their expectations and allow the team to learn from their shortcomings and evolve in this competition. Allow the players the freedom to excel. It is unfortunate, that fans end up confusing criticism for support. What the team needs now is to be supported. Managers’ union operating in full force! Simon makes the point perfectly. Germany have played two games and they’ve actually attacked. England (who have just as good a squad) as per previous tournaments sat back, defended for large parts of the game and it seems to be a similar story with Southgate. He plays people out of position (Foden) and he is overly cautious. England fans want to win the tournament, they couldn’t care less whether we win 1-0 v Serbia. It’ll be the match against Germany, or France, or Spain etc that is the important one. Put it another way, if Pep was managing our squad we would not be playing the way we do where we got 1-0 in front and then we sit back and invite the opposition on because ‘they pushed up the pitch’
