To all the people who think this is “showing” David Mitchell something, I think you’re misreading what is a fond homage rather than a spoof. The problem with spoofing it is he spoofs himself already (“I rant on panel shows. WE USED TO MAKE STEEL!”) He’s very good at what he does and very self-aware about it. Spoofing it would be like how Scary Movie didn’t seem to realise that Scream is already a work of satire.

That Jimmy Carr laugh thrown in though _chef's kiss_
The Carr laugh killed me, excellent
when he says “wo-.. won’t be picking him up from kew gardens!” so good. mitchell often does that at the start of one of his sentences where he doesn’t manage to get the first word out initially because he is so flabbergasted

I love David Mitchell, and with how accurately you portrayed him I was actually chuckling more at the jokes than the fact you were impersonating him! Well done!
The stutters, pauses and inflections are there. I can tell you're quite fond of this man.
That's pretty accurate, but the laughs usually don't come until he's finished his rant, since the audience is usually in rapt attention until it's over.
Both the David Mitchell impersonation and Carr's laugh were spot on. I actually like them both on panel shows and this is brilliant even if it was a slight dig at them.
This video has catapulted me back to when I was younger, laughing myself to death at David Mitchell arguing with the hidden QI producers on what he meant by “after 1939”
I'm aware that he is pointing out how predictable Mitchel can be but damn is it still funny as shit.

Yes, except what makes Mitchell's rants on chat shows great is that most of them are ad lib yet retain meaning fluency and humour over their considerable length. Its true anyone with half an hour can sit down and script one out, but that's not what he's doing on panel shows.
