David Grisman, affectionately named ‘Dawg’ by the late Jerry Garcia is a living legend of modern day acoustic American music. His virtuosic, inventive mandolin playing and ground breaking original compositions changed the course of folk and bluegrass music making it ‘Newgrass’ which in turn evolved to simply ‘Dawg Music’.
Having long being associated with Stephane Grappelli in the 70’s and 80’s when they toured and recorded music together, Dawg has since brought a lot of Django and Stephane’s sound into his playing and loves to jam on the gypsy jazz repertoire.
I’ve had the pleasure to play and hang with Dawg on a number of occasions over the years and he never ceases to inspire with his deep love and knowledge of music. He’s big fun, sharp witted and I’m really stoked to have him featured in Gypsy Jazz Secrets Magazine!
You will love the deep and inspiring interview that tells his whole story so make sure you download the main issue of the magazine right away!
Video lessons to enjoy inside the main issue this month are world class and all selected to take your gypsy jazz guitar playing to the next level. We welcome new contributors Paul Provosty who has a hot ‘Django’s Tiger’ lick ready for you and John Wheatcroft who has kicked off a new series taking rock guitarists into the world of swing.
Add some sophistication to your soloing with a Joe Pass move taught by Oz wonder guitarist Lachlan Gear and let me show you a golden quote you can play on ‘J’attendrai’. Also make sure your bass player sees the new gypsy jazz bass lesson series taught by Arnoud van den Berg.
We pack every issue of Gypsy Jazz Guitar Secrets with cutting edge performances and lessons from the best teachers out there in the world of gypsy jazz. Join us on this adventure into the world of gypsy jazz to massively improve your guitar playing right from the convenience of your mobile device.

It's fun to learn of, and listen to, a bit of "gypsy jazz." I found this by way of having listened to KZread videos of Tommy Emmanuel. Years ago I enjoyed jazz CD's featuring David Grisman, and reading the Wikipedia biographies for both of them.

Absolutely awesome. Live acoustic music being played with such calm, ease and grace. No contorted faces needed thank you. Not that it matters so much, but the setting is very, very cool. For any young folks out there in comment land reading this, learn to play an instrument and make reading a habit in your life. It will enrich your life on many levels.

Gypsy Jazz Secrets I envy you, brother. I have really taken a liking to this kind of music. If you added me on facebook, I have over 1300 picks in folders and very nice gypsy jazz picks within them. I've you are interested, look on Facebook under Warlok Wyatt. I would be honored if you (Robin) hit me up.
