A new investigation finds nearly a third of bicycles provided through Metro's taxpayer-funded program are either stolen or stripped for parts.

All they need is a GPS and Alarm When Time Expired And Not Returned. They said the GPS Dies With The Bike Power? USE THE MINI GPS WITH BUTTON BATTERIES! *Why would you have the GPS connected to the system's power?*

Honestly, who here is surprised? Just more SJW's, wasting tax payer money here in LA. How about upgrading/expanding freeways, so traffic is not so bad? Oh, I get it, that's not what the Dems want....and the rest of us have to (literally and figuratively) pay for it.

You should investigate who thought this was a good idea to pay for the bike's. If they are corrupt enough to think this is a good idea we know they probably skimmed money off the top of this project.

The same problem exists in San Diego. The cops clear out ravines full of stolen bikes and scooters. They know exactly which homeless people are stealing and possessing them, but there are never arrests. The selling of bike parts (and pet theft also) all goes into fueling addictions. Simple solution: ENFORCEMENT. Throw them in jail or halfway houses with tight curfews, clean up the damn streets. Make it safer for the women, families, disabled, pensioners who live on the street simply because there is little suitable, safe, affordable housing available.

I would've liked to see an investigation into the actual usage rates of these bikes. I rarely ever see anyone using them, and I ride public transportation every day. I compare this to private company options like Bird e-scooters or Wheels e-bikes which I see people using all the time. People prefer the freedom of point to point travel these private options offer.
