Notice how there is no tension and ego between them in the backstage, they are genuinely enjoying each other company, which is not very common between such a big personalities

Does he suffer from depression, because you are right. David rarely smiles.
Funny when Gilmour hears him say he was 6 or 7,his reaction is brilliant.
I loved the way Bowie sang his part, it really did sound like a Bowie song. Two of my all-time favorites. For those of you criticizing the performance: There are plenty of videos of Comfortably Numb you can watch, or you can just listen to the original song. This was something different from a legend who is no longer with us. You should try to cherish it instead of criticizing!

I'll be a grouch but also be polite and merely say the performance was unnecessary. That said, David Bowie and David Gilmour seem to be great chums, and this behind the scenes video is well worth it.
RIP David Bowie, Richard Wright, and David Crosby; 3 legends who have passed on to the great beyond in one video. Along with Gilmour and the criminally underrated Phil Manzanera, this is a collection of artists who have been extremely influential to me.

Gilmour's Royal Albert Hall dvd (which ended with the encores along with Bowie they're rehearsing here, "Arnold Layne" and "Comfortably Numb") is, IMHO, the best video recording of a Floyd-related concert ever on film, bar none. Superb musicianship and vocals, amazing cinematography (directed by David Mallet, who of course oversaw several video clips with Bowie) and it feels like it authentically reflects much of the Floyd heritage. Roger Waters' "In the Flesh", filmed a few years earlier in the Pacific coastal US, is the second greatest to me - similar qualities here, but a different tone and vibe. It makes a very interesting complement to Gilmour, because you really get to see the different facets of the band (Waters brings out more of the "everyday surrealism" factor that was a key part of their music).
1:15 Holy Jesus, that pic is absolutely adorable.
These guys are like gods. So cool to see these giants together.
i so miss bowie coolest dude ever !! 😪

I still can’t believe that Bowie is gone. Bowie and Pink Floyd have created magic that will never fade away
1:00 I love that change of expression on Gilmour. An eternal, 'Hang on, that ain't right!'
Seeing Richard and Bowie together is awesome. Richard sings it in the bonus footage. Both versions are awesome. I remember thinking seeing Bowie for the first time I saw that concert and thinking, "shit, this is what they should have done all along!" Nothing against Roger, but what a perfect replacement he would have been. Rest in peace, legends.

Bowie really doesn't write the kind of music roger does, and it seems they specifically were looking for a 'roger type' of which they are few and far between. In the eighties Bruce Cockburn comes to mind, but he also liked to march to his own drum.

The Royal Albert Hall encores were also among the very last times Bowie performed on stage, after suffering a mild heart attack during a gig in Prague the year before.

You forgot to mention Crosby and Nash, two legends as well.
What a pleasure to see Bowie with Gilmour and these other legends of rock music. With his distinctive voice any song that he sang on would end up being a Bowie song. As I type this on June 27, 2018, it has been nearly 2 1/2 years since his passing and will surely be missed. But, am glad that I can push a few keys on a device and hear his tunes.
Two beautiful geniuses. Enough said.

As beautiful as this is.... It is tinged with sadness now. Just goes to show we must savour these moments.
A genius-meets-geniuses meeting. These are becoming rarer and rarer lately, given the current state of affairs of the music industry. No, and I don't mean the COVID-19 pandemic hiatus!
