I've been enthusiastically attending David Cook shows for the last 8 years, and was able to see him in Kinky Boots April 7. I expected him to do well in the show, but was delighted and charmed by how excellent his performance is.

To me it is the best song of the whole show. Along with “history of wrong guys”. And he made it his own. The “so-o-o-oul” close to the end is great. Can’t wait to watch him live next week! He rocked it. Made the song his own.

yes, that's true. but when he isn't wearing a hat you can see that he wears his hair in a way that makes him look much older than 36. it is shaven to the scalp at the sides and the top hair is pushed way up off his head.

Having watched him as a rock star, I notice his facial mannerism while singing but now on this video, him doing Broadway the facial mannerism wasn't showing. Yet, I watched another video of him just before this (the Big Slick) the mannerism was there. It only shows he's a good theater talent and vocals haven't changed too, as good as ever. He's one those few singers with the best vibrato.

I'm bad news, a black and blue-ser who's a loser a merry-go-round spiraling down I'm all used up chafed and chewed-up who's just screwed up the same old Charlie hitting the ground 'cause I'll never be the soul of a man, noble and wise like the soul of a man who lifted me high like the soul of a man heroic and true like the soul of man that I looked up to what else could I do? stupid hubris no excuses I blew my fuses I guess I'm a ruse in my father's shoes not amusing, no confusing this streak of losing totally brutal and useless, too how can I be the soul of a man noble and wise like the soul of a man who lifted me high like the soul of a man heroic and true like the soul of a man that I looked up to what else could I... Just when I'm reaching for that rung at the top I'm that broken heel unsteady and ready ready to drop when will I be the soul of a man noble and wise like the soul of a man who lifted me high soul of a man heroic and true like the soul of a man that I looked up to what else could I do? (soul... of a man) I'll never be no I'll never be I have gone and let you down No, soul, soul of a man Here comes that familiar sound same old Charlie hitting the ground End

I don't think he does, at all. Listen to him as recorded live on the stage: t.co/7w3kmQfCNJ Both Brendon & David are great at singing but David has impressed a lot of people with his acting, he has shown an emotional depth that hasn't been seen in most of the Charlie's so far.

Brendon is great too, but I think David has excellent breathing control and beautiful phrasing. He also did an acoustic rendition, with both qualities evident - and that is while sitting down and playing the guitar - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqKtktOTnt23h5M.html

I agree! At the start of his run Brendon was fantastic but you could really hear he was struggling towards the end as he was slipping into falsetto quite often and dropping the octave very quickly on the final note of Soul of a Man. Just makes you realise how talented some of the people playing this role are to be able to do it 8 times a week for a year without faltering

Well if you haven't seen him on that stage you're missing out. TBH I didn't even know who BU was until all the negative comments by BU fans started showing up on every David Cook video. Not only his but there were brutal ones on Stark Sands and others as well. Yes BU can sing, but is he the best Charlie? That is subjective. Can't wait till you all show up on Mark Ballas's vids since he is now the new Charlie Price. I'm sure BU appreciates how his fans belittle every new artist that dares take on this challenging role NOT.

sailorvvv Vocally I think it was his best. Some of the notes he hit were cleaner than in his other performances like Billie Jean. He was a theater major in college but then switched to graphic design. It’s true that he was known on the show as a rocker or pop/rock or whatever but he’s still fairly versatile. Simon, of course, didn’t like his performance of Music Of The Night but that was one time I personally didn’t listen to Simon lol
