Shows how tough Musical Theatre is - even the mighty Brendon had to take this down a semi tone to sing this 8 times a week.

Brendon has been doing this since the beginning of Panic (lowering the key so he can be more comfy) since Panic's bangers are hard for him to sing in the original key. But I can't deny the difficulty broadway has to offer.

So I’m in a regional production of Kinky Boots and there is an “alternate key” that the score technically uses. And while it also helps the lead, it’s also easier for the ensemble to sing that beautiful backup especially since you can’t really see the conductor since it’s being sung “off stage” (behind the wall). So it’s a lot easier for the ensemble to get that sound at the slightly lower key (Eb instead of E).

Cant tell if you’re joking or not lol Idina is a mezzo-soprano who can belt E/F5 lol whereas Brendon doesn’t even a make male tenor, maxing out at like A/Bb4. Their vocal ranges are so completely different. No one is ‘perfect’ for Broadway just because their voice is high. It requires years and years of singing lessons working on a vast array of techniques and devices to use vocally. Not to mention the years of training in general it takes to be a theatre or musical theatre performer. Saying someone is perfect for Broadway just because they have a high voice is like saying someone is perfect for playing football just because they can kick a ball. Ridiculous lmao

@Ofra Cohen fair enough you’re right just seen videos of him belting into the 5th octave. But if you see him singing live videos of soul of a man in kinky boots he really struggles to hit an A4 smoothly at all. He suits quite a distinctive style which is like a heavy rock/pop genre but he’s not suited to play any musical parts or anything on Broadway his voice doesn’t resonate with musical theatre at all.
