If there is an afterlife, I like to imagine David Bowie and Syd Barrett are now collaborating on the most trippy ass song ever.

Pink Floyd is my favorite band, David Bowie is my favorite musician. This cover brought me an amazing mix of both.

His legacy is that of a writer, performer, artist. He brought the best out of musicians, but I don't think he claimed to be primarily a musician himself.

@@stuartwray6175, Bowie was very accomplishes as a saxophonist, a pianist, and played acoustic guitar a great deal. He learnt lead guitar and played it himself on the Diamond Dogs album, so that would make him a great musician too as well as singer and songwriter. And yes he always had great musicians in his band too. Very much so sttgaegoaktd 😛😛😛😛😛😛😛

He claimed he wasn't a musician. More than once. But in other interviews, admittedly sometime later, he referred to himself as one, all part of his evolution. Whatever way you look at it, whatever he could play, and he was largely self taught, he was absolutely full of musicality. You can be a dancer who plays no instrument and can't sing in tune and still full of musicality. We won't see another Bowie in our lifetime. He is still influencing music, art, fashion and popular culture today. Whatever he was, we were so lucky to have witnessed his genius.✨️
Bowie's cover of Pink Floyd's See Emily Play was a remarkable three-way cross between 70's glam, 60's psychedelia, and 50's avant garde jazz. Shows how deep the roots of Blackstar extend.

Syd was a greater influence than even he realized.
I never knew David Bowie recorded this. In retrospect, it's an absolute natural for him. And he didn't disappoint. I suspect Syd Barrett's eyes would have exploded.

I’ll never understand the hate this and other songs David did on this album gets. The talent this man had is incredible and this cover clearly shows that. Stop comparing and just enjoy the music that we’re so fortunate both artists gave us.
Love this, one of Bowies best covers, the best being his live version of Velvet Undergrounds waiting for the man...saw him perform it in 72, amazing .
Wish Syd Barrett didn't fall off the deep end, he was a true talent...and yes hope Bowie and Syd are jamming out in outer space somewhere...
En 1970 con mi primer sueldo compre el disco de Bowie.. PIN ups.... Aun conservo ese vinilo, hoy a mis 70 años no dejo de escuchar y ver todo lo que puedo de Bowie, siempre sorprendente.

No matter what you think about Bowie's music, you have to admit he was definitely ahead of his time.(I know this is a Pink Floyd cover)

LoL... Its funny how now a days we have to mention some facts... Coz if we don't people get offended somehow... I mean, im talking about your "I know this is a Pink Floyd cover".... I would write that too, coz i don't want hatred in people's mind... :D But isn't it funny??? You wrote a great comment but yet you have to prove yourself... People hate so easily this days... Peace & love for those beings... ^_^

love the original but I love his extra trippy take on this mad masterpiece
What a version!
What a fantastic cover version.
1:43 That wailing synth solo was a good 5-6 years ahead of everyone else. But of course Bowie was 1000 years ahead of his time! And we got to live at the same time. Lucky us.

Pin Ups was brilliant for what it was. Brilliant covers. I remember it fondly.
One of my favourite tracks on this album, as always David done it his way and made it his own, specially the classical arrangements at the end, pure Genius. Forever Missed x
Love that ending! Beatles-inspired, and knowing Bowie's sense of fun, he's saying "Syd's tune is A CLASSIC!"

My father, Pierre Llinares (viola) plays on this song with the electrical string quartet, Michel Ripoche (1st violin), Pierre Louis (2d violin) and cellist Hervé Derrien. The sessions took place in Château d'Hérouville recording studio on 29th of july 1973. The strings recording session was on night time at 3 am...
How perfect. Excellent David!! You and Syd are probably jamming in Rock and Roll Heaven 🎵🎼🎶 Save me a seat.
This is wayyyy better than I thought it'd be
Love this Pink Floyd cover!! David Bowie playing the Moog Synthesizer. cool!
excellent cover. my favorite track on Pinups
WOW ... I just listened for the first time with full awareness also to that second half of this great interpretation of a great Syd Barret song. Bowie had that brilliant piano-player with him in those days !
Sensacional interpretación. ¡Qué recuerdos! 😢

I like it but there's something special about Syd Barrett's orginal version; maybe some touch of melacholic that makes it really unique.
Greatest cover to Emily See of all time. 👍👏👏👏👏
What a great gift from God thank you so much for Mr David Bowie 😎😎😎😎
not being pickie or critical to any of the artist who wrote the songs from this album " pin ups " but got to be honest he done a bloody good job on all of them...its one of my fav albums by bowie...rip legend
Rest i n peace my Musical friend, you will always be on my mind and so many of us that remain will always love you David Bowie !
Kinda overlooked this one. Nice arrangement and that Muppet-on-Shrooms-like chorus.
I do love this song, always have. But bowie, could take a song, and bring it somewhere, you never thought it could possibly go.
Genius. Still amazing after all these years. x
Only Bowie and his amazing band could cover this song. Brilliant.

this cover of David Bowie is very good.
I wonder what Barrett thought of Bowie's cover, or even if he ever heard it? It was 1973 and Syd had just exited the music business.

Emily tries but misunderstands She's often inclined to borrow somebody's dreams 'till tomorrow There is no other day Let's try it another way You'll lose your mind and play Free games for May See Emily play Soon after dark Emily cries Gazing at trees in sorrow hardly a sound 'till tomorrow There is no other day Let's try it another way You'll lose your mind and play Free games for May See Emily play Put on a gown that touches the ground Float on a river for ever and ever Emily There is no other day Let's try it another way You'll lose your mind and play Free games for May See Emily play
