As a young 11 year old girl I would put on Hunky Dory which was my brothers album.. Sit in the dark with just the gasfure on and listen to this song over and over along with Bewley.. My parents had split up and I cannot explain how much comfort this gave me.. Made me feel there was something more out there and it was really OK to be different.. God bless you David.. Thankyou for everything the world is not the same without you.. Love you forever x

I was a 14 year old boy and I would listen alone to the entire album over and over and over on my record player. Bewley Brothers was my all time favorite but this song was my tonic. It took on a sort of religious quality for me. I always thought the lyrics were only for me and my foreboding depression but it sounds as if I have a celestial sister out there. I hadn’t heard this version of it till now and after I read your words, my eyes moistened a little.

That and Lady Grinning Soul are my top favorites of his...I had it all in my head that god might actually exist when I stumbled upon this tonight...and you're all, casually, yeah it's one of his better live takes on Quicksand and I'm all 0_*
