"David faced his illness with dignity, grace and his customary humour. Even in dire circumstances. When he wrote to tell me he had cancer, he said 'the good news is I have my cheekbones back'. David, you were mortal but your potential was superhuman and your remarkable music is living on. We love you and we thank you." I Cried My Eyes Out.That was a tribute. So touching.Full of emotions and true love for David. Miss you terribly Duke..

David Bowie was a huge fan of Annie Lennox too ; he thought she was a massive talent - and it is fitting that she introduced this award . Watch their performance of Under Pressure . Probably the only time the great man was upstaged by another performer .

Thank You Annie and Gary for such beautiful and classy tributes. No need for crassness , fake crocodile tears and circus like BS in the Grammy awards. Simply having Gary Oldman as your mate speaks volumes about Bowie.
David Bowie is the Leonardo Da Vinci of music, a true Artist and its devastating to know we'll never get another Artist like him...RIP STARMAN.
the most perfect words about the great man, well done to Annie & Gary
I'm crying big tears. What a beautiful tribute. These are the words that resonate and are so poignantly helpful. Thank you Annie and Gary. He was the embodiment of fun and the expression of humor, and intellect. Enjoy the Cosmos, David. "A quintessential visionary pushing the limits of a shape shifting persona. The ultimate iconoclast, gracious and dangerous and legendary. The legacy of his extraordinary sound and vision will be loved and revered for as long as the Earth still spins." Annie Lennox. It was kind and comforting for Gary Oldman to share about Bowie's life with cancer. His words about Bowie were very moving. We lost an icon. I've been watching his music videos and interviews to enjoy his songs and great wit and humor.

Amazing, this is the right tribute to fit the unique legend David Bowie, respectful ,full of honest emotions , Legends never die .
This was wonderful. Gary & Annie really captured David in the speeches. My only regret was ever meeting David in real life. He's everything to me & always will be.
I'm in tears. Now this, was a proper way to honor David Bowie. I was so disappointed with the GRAMMY's tribute but the BRIT's did him proud! Thank you...

So grateful to hear and see this tribute to David Bowie...
If I were to choose someone to speak on David's behalf I would have chosen Gary Oldman. Both David and Gary are brilliant muses in my life and the lives of many. (I didn't know they were good friends...but that makes so much sense). A superb execution of a real Tribute! 😢
I am in awe by how beautiful and spot on Annie's description is, from the point of view of a fan. And how open Gary's speech was. This was wonderful to watch.

+Des Slye Gaga's tribute was amazing as a standalone, strictly about-Gaga performance. It wasn't amazing as a tribute. Her pageantry kept the focus on her, not on David and his music, and she turned the man's death into a profit-mongering advertisement for Intel. It was very disappointing. I'm a little monster, I love her work, but I've been a bowiemian a lot longer and her tribute was not a tribute to David, it was a tribute to Gaga using David's music. With as much talent as she has, she could have conceived better than the commercialisation of David Bowie's death. The BRITs tribute focused entirely on David, didn't make a frivolous show of things, AND it included people who were actually close to David as well as allowed HIS BAND to play. Gaga's performance was entirely for and about her, not about David. So as amazing as Gaga is, her tribute to David Bowie was not amazing - it was a noxious mess.

"I've got my cheekbones back"... Omg I can't help crying :(
Nowww...This is how it should be done. Ms. Lennox represents just the kind of artistic gravitas appropriate for sharing the true cultural impact of Bowie's genius.
I thought I cried all my tears for Bowie... Now I cry again. Thank You Annie, thank You Gary, and thank You David Bowie...
The Grammy's had the better singing voice, the The Brit Awards had a better performance overall.
Damn, now I'm crying again! So well put and a beautiful tribute.

Absolutely wonderful speeches by both Annie & Gary. Love the respect some of the attendees, such as Coldplay (who can be seen standing out of respect as Gary started speaking) gave.
Being of the 70's generation and a fan of David Bowie, I think the Brit Awards chose two of the BEST of OUR (MY) generation to salute David Bowie, Annie Lennox and Gary Oldman! VERY TOUCHING! PERFECT!
Thank you, Annie, for sharing your real emotions. That's exactly what I feel.

As an American, I feel that the Grammy's should be ashamed! I understand that Bowie was British but the guy was a legend and his music was transcendent, plus he lived in the states for half of his life. I never watch these shit awards shows but as a Bowie nut, I figured I would watch the Grammy's this year for the first time hoping they would honor this man and they did not. Congrats to the Brit awards! Well done.

+erick medeiros No worries, the entire WORLD was disgusted and the Grammys were SHAMED for the disrespectful corporate advert The David Bowie tribute turned into. NO ONE in the music industry, his colleagues, the global artistic community, credible media, his friends and family, the massive global Bowie fanbase NO ONE endorsed it. EVERYONE has now expressed deep gratitude for the Brits PROPER and distinguished tribute to his CULTURAL LEGACY. Yes, they could have done even better, but THAT is the nature of corporate driven awards shows, it's all about profit margins and the core commercial demographic$$$
David Bowie's soul must have been in such a happy place when he saw this and no one could have paid such a humble tribute to David bowie as him..
Those speeches have left me speechless.
these two dear friends of David brought tears to my eyes as they spoke of their regard for him. I did not know him personally but felt he knew ME. I am beyond sad. this tribute was beautiful and heartfelt.
A moving tribute to the late "David Bowie" by Gary and Annie two of the worlds best icons from the world of film & music love to you both you did David and his family proud.❤👍
Someone's cutting onions around here... Bowie meant so much to me as an artist-from a young age, his music captivated me. I didn't always like or agree with his musical direction (it's a matter of taste, obviously), but he was an incredible chameleon, able to change and adapt with the times, and provide some truly unforgettable sound, and vision. RIP Starman. Thank you.
That thing about the cheek bones was funny and depressing at the same time. David Bowie did what few can, accept fate and bring light to dark situations.
Everyone, Bowie is in a much better place in the stars now :) recently, near Mars, during or after Bowie's death, a constellation of a certain iconic lightning bolt was found.

I still can't believe it he's gone. I remember when I was 12 or 13 years I used to pretend that I would meet him and marry him. I still love him for his talent, his music and of course those cheekbones.
so beautiful speech Mr. Gary Oldman you read my mind and spoke from the heart... incredible :')
Annie Lennox performed "Under Pressure" with David Bowie in the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. Annie wore a black/silver dress to symbolise death/Aids, David Wore a green suit to symbolise life. In the end of the song annie hugged him. Showing when freddie died. I would love that annie would perform a version of that for bowie
That was indeed, BEAUTIFUL.
Beautiful tribute to an incomparable icon!
New respect for Lennox and Oldman after this. Spot on ~ love the reference to Quicksand at the end too xx
It's incredible an actor pays tribute to his famous artist who is David Bowie. I'm not a fan of Bowie but, I can imagine how shocked the music industry was because of his death.
Thanks for the ride David it was awesome!!!
I normally think tributes are either self promoting (like Gaga) or trite, but this was very moving and heartfelt indeed. Thank you.
I always thought Gary and David looked so alike they could be brothers.
I love love love bowie, I’m also very impressed with mr oldman!
Greatest singer/songwriter of all time. Bar none.
Perfect, deep respect for David.
Miss David Bowie so much, his music always inspired, a great loss
Wow. Just seen this for the first time and oh man, you can really feel Annie and Gary's emotions so strongly. Not to mention that hug that I'm sure they both needed. I can feel them both battlin to get through their speeches smoothly and resepctfully without getting too upset or losing momentum. And given the length and passion of what they both had to memorise and then later deliver in front of such a huge crowd - and especially as this was so soon after David's death: it;s blody impressive. Congrats to them both and the awards could hardly have chosen a more perfect pair to present this.
I caught this last night and it was truly touching, tear-jerking, and extremely well done -- all of it. The words of Annie Lennox and Gary Oldman were straight from the heart. It was exquisite to see Bowie's band and Lorde on vocals for "Life on Mars." (I wish all that was on this video, but I'm sure it's on You Tube somewhere). David's homeland did him good. We'll all be crying over the loss of David Bowie for a very long time.
Oh Annie. I've always loved you. You said so much in so few words. I'll never forget the two of you performing _Under_ _Pressure_ in the tribute concert. It was a highlight to me in a career full of incredible performances for both of you.
Beautiful! We miss you Mr Bowie... forever.
Thank you for posting this...I will miss you dearly David.
It’s been two years & I’m still crying every single time I watch this. It breaks my heart into absolute pieces.
Oh gosh this is making me well up. This is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful man. May he forever be in our hearts, thank you and goodbye Starman.
Thank you for this beautiful tribute Annie and Gary.
God! Just when I thought my crash on Gary Oldman coulnd´t get any bigger... I´m dying here!!
Gary is right, he had a potential of superhuman, for he was like not just a human, he was otherworldly, Gracious and dangerous, diverse just everything about him. ❤️
This is the tribute he deserved!!! Superb words from Annie and Gary. Such a dignified, respectful and insightful tribute.
Wonderful Tribute to a Legend !
I am very moved by his death and I am glad I am part of a community that grieves collectively for David and shares an enjoyment in his music and artistry. I am so grateful David has been recognised for his amazing body of work and his most beautiful personality. Thanks to Annie for her amazing tribute and to Gary for his beautiful acceptance speech on his and his family's behalf.
Heartbreaking and fitting tribute
Wow, that is a fantastic tribute and a very touching gesture to David Bowie, both as an artist, a human being and an ICON. Beautiful, simply beautiful... Must be hard for both of them. R.I.P. dear mr Bowie.
this is just too powerful but none other tribute would be worth him
I’m still here loving him and missing him! Will never forget! My hero, my everything, the one I turn to because I lost my father, thank you! And thank you again!

He did have great cheek bones. Beautiful Tribute.
I love Annie too. She's another favorite singer of mine. Wonderful speech Annie ❤️
I'm drowning in my own tears. What beautiful, beautiful words by these two greats. David would be so, incredibly happy.
