while he did not want to talk about politics in this interview, he certainly made sure to point out political & cultural topics like racism in other interviews. I don't know if he ever said anything political in the sense of "I don't like party XYZ", but he certainly stood up for what he believed was a good cause and I respect him for that

@@ZappsPotatoChips I think it's more about bravery than being educated. Bowie and others among the art world are a part of the avant-garde who have defined modern generations, away from the old outdated stagnate generations. They are leaders who are few and far apart until they find each other in an inner society that most of us have no access to, let alone know about or understand. Art moves society and it's usually the young who move things before they grow old and wise and become one of those hideous things called an adult. I have also begun to realize that there are a lot of phonies out there pretending to be true artist and movers. They have old stagnate ideas about being a part of the pop cultures. Instead of having to watch out for them, I say bring em in and play with them until they crack. Or change.

Celebrity Hub I read reports concerning opiate addicts that managed to reach a respectable age(75-85 yo) while staying pretty much intact. Without kicking that bad habit but avoiding overdose and needles, valuing hygiene etc. and caring about quality and constant purity of the substance, that is. As time goes by, substance and the host person develop a kind of symbiotic relationship(look at Iggy Pop for instance). Yet this reports are also about the exceptions from the rule, alas rather rare. The certain thing is: stimulants and polytox way of living won't let a person get old and stay sane at the same time.

Sad you have no idea who this interviewer is!! He was ahead of his time, the only show on A Broadcasting Network that would interview artists that weren't considered "mainstream" or calm enough for television in those days. His name is Dick Cavett. He was good friends with the likes of Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Pink Floyd, along with David Bowie. His interview style is that of 2 friends chatting @ a party. This was his schtick, sort of pretending to be uptight and not "get it". It would be amazing if this generation would choose to understand the generations past for what they really were rather than what they're portrayed as now!😉

This was the culmination of just about everything that was his hugely dynamic creative period. He was off the wall with everything, and his appearance showed it. My favorite albums of his all came up to this period. It's not that he didn't have hits after this, but he cleaned himself up, and gained some weight. He could have died about this time. What a wildly creative person.
