DAVID BOWIE - FIVE YEARS - LIVE JAPAN 2004

Музыка

Epic ballad on human decadence. By a melancholic vision, the chaos painted through a quick sequence of lucid frescoes. Passionate crescendo, vividly touching, very beautiful Bowie's voice.

So wonderfully written and incredibly sad. We've got five years, stuck on my eyes. We've got five years, what a surprise. We've got five years, my brain hurts a lot. We've got five years, that's all we've got.

That gave me chills, my god what an artist ! This has always been my favorite Bowie song since I discovered the rise and fall of ziggy stardust and the spiders from Mars when I was 20. This live version is remarkable, his voice got better with age. I love when he points to someone in the crowd as he sings “don’t think you knew you were in this song”, made me tear up a bit

I saw David at Anaheim Stadium, California. In 1983. Kool suit, sitting on a stool. And singing to a glass skull. The laser beams hit the glass skull and what a show. His elegance, his appearance, his voice. Him. I learned that a low voice is as badass as any highs I've ever sung or heard. Pure class act. For sure. D. D.

One of my favorite Bowie songs, and his delivery here is gorgeous. What I like about his concert footage is the way that, as he aged, he kept developing how he sang his early songs, expanding their emotional range.

@ezaube1030 Thank you so much, darling, I agree definitely. A piece sometimes a little overlooked, but of deep introspective intensity. How much of the poetry, has its own structure, built on three floors which attempt progressively for ascending until to the compassion... The music goes hand in hand with the lyrics, a perfect harmonization, from a concept album, masterpiece.

@BravuraK I guess is a song like a multifaceted diamond, sealed between beginning and closing by a charming drums-effect, how to scan a "time" that recalls to a lost alignment brain/heart... as an alarm on being part of a chaotic physical world in which we live in an emotional state incapable of restoring joy to live... The musical atmosphere impends and tallies perfectly to danger perceived from an unrelated world, astray. Thanks my dear friend.

Pushing through the market square So many mothers sighing (sighing) News had just come over We had five years left to cry in (cry in) News guy wept and told us Earth was really dying (dying) Cried so much his face was wet Then I knew he was not lying (lying) I heard telephones, opera house, favorite melodies I saw boys, toys, electric irons and TV's My brain hurt like a warehouse, it had no room to spare I had to cram so many things to store everything in there And all the fat, skinny people And all the tall, short people And all the nobody people And all the somebody people I never thought I'd need so many people A girl my age went off her head Hit some tiny children If the Black hadn't have pulled her off I think she would have killed them A soldier with a broken arm Fixed his stare to the wheels of a Cadillac A cop knelt and kissed the feet of a priest And a queer threw up at the sight of that I think I saw you in an ice-cream parlor Drinking milk shakes cold and long Smiling and waving and looking so fine Don't think you knew you were in this song And it was cold and it rained, so I felt like an actor And I thought of Ma and I wanted to get back there Your face, your race, the way that you talk I kiss you, you're beautiful, I want you to walk We've got five years, stuck on my eyes Five years, what a surprise We've got five years, my brain hurts a lot Five years, that's all we've got We've got five years, what a surprise Five years, stuck on my eyes We've got five years, my brain hurts a lot Five years, that's all we've got We've got five years, stuck on my eyes Five years, what a surprise We've got five years, my brain hurts a lot Five years, that's all we've got We've got five years, what a surprise We've got five years, stuck on my eyes We've got five years, my brain hurts a lot Five years, that's all we've got Five years Five years Five years
