David Bote's Walk-off Grand Slam | The Breakdown
Спорт
David Bote breaks down each moment of his walk-off grand slam from August 12, 2018 at Wrigley Field against the Washington Nationals. Teammates Jason Heyward, Albert Almora, Willson Contreras, Ian Happ and manager Joe Maddon help break down the at-bats leading up to Bote's big moment.

Cards fan here. This was an objectively awesome baseball moment. And the Cubs KZread channel makes great stuff. I had no idea Happ was so funny. The poor Nationals lost on a walkoff homer the very next night off the bat of Paul DeJong too.

Well, he did say "one of" the best--and no one can argue that
Not only was this a walk-off slam, but this was also an ultimate one. 2 outs, 2 strikes, down by 3, bases loaded, bottom of the ninth.
I think everyone still remembers where they were when this happened. I was up watching the game with my parents. My Dad decided to go to bed and just like that the minute he got in bed the inning unfolded into its magnificent glory. I sat there and prayed “Lord Jesus be with the Cubs in this moment” and just like that....error, hit by pitch, hit by pitch, now Bote’s up. I prayed a little harder. And in what felt like an eternity.....Santa Maria. Walk-Off Slam. My mom and I were jumping up and down screaming at the tv like they could hear us in Chicago. I honestly think it was God’s will for the Cubs to win that game. Whole heartedly I believe in that.

Does anyone remember the game in the 1990s that was almost exactly like this one except it ended on a three-run homer? Cubs had surrendered three runs to the Phillies in the top of the ninth, and in the bottom half, down to their last out, Scott Bullett reaches on an error, and Brian McRae gets hit with a pitch. Shawon Dunston comes up and hits a three-run walkoff homer. July 29, 1995: one of the most entertaining Cubs games I've ever seen (in an ordinary season that was somehow full of them). And now David Bote has one-upped it.
Probably the most exciting walk off I’ve seen. Sometimes the stars just perfectly align.
I’ve watched this like 10 times, tear up every time.
I was at this game in person.Very proud of that.
Love how the catcher instantly started walking off the field. Hilarious
I was there it was an amazing moment😀
I was at this game and it’s so cool to see what Bote was thinking about
August 12, 2012 - met my wife. August 12, 2016 - married my wife. August 12, 2018 - our daughter was brought home from the hospital. Born three days earlier. Never forget sitting there with my little girl in her Cubs onesie watching David’s Grand Slam!
As others have said, this was the best moment of 2018. It was Sunday, August 12, 2018. After listening to the ESPN announcers proclaim Max Scherzer as the second coming for 2 1/2 hours in a horribly boring Sunday Night game, with bases loaded in bottom of 9th and 2 outs, David Bote whacks one over the center field fence... walk off grand slam, Cubs Win 4-3!

I’m as big a Cubs fan as any, and I was bowling with my girlfriend at the time. I got a notification from my phone that the Cubs had the bases-loaded, and I had been following the game so I knew what the deal was. I excused myself and walked over to the bar where they were playing the game on TV and watched the entire at bat. Wow. This was such an awesome moment.
To think this overshadowed the epic comeback of his (Bote's) two run shot with two outs against the D Backs on July 25th, followed by the walk off by 'Rizz'...So many amazing comebacks in a season that ended in heartbreak. They were just burnt out from coming back in so many games in '18
By far the best moment of 2018! It is so cute how he tells the story grinning ear to ear like a kid on Christmas morning!

Outside of any sort of playoff game/2016, this was my favorite moment I've watched as a Cubs fan 30+ years...
This is what legends are made of, single moments in time. What ever David Bote does the rest of his career, he'll always have this one incredible moment to remember, as will all of baseball.
From a guy from NY…that was amazing to watch, great focus. Cheers.
Imagine this World Series Game 7 Bottom of the ninth Down three Bases Loaded Two Outs 3 Balls 2 Strikes Grand Slam

This was on my birthday. Had a great weekend, and wanted to end it up watching the Cubs win a game on Sunday Night Baseball. Wasn't looking too good until that moment. Made a great weekend even better.
What a way to start your career. Bote will ALWAYS be a hero for Chicago..thank you David.
The edits in this video proves this is the best baseball KZread channel
I love this video I’ve watched it so many times
David Bote smashes his way into the Cubs pantheon. For a team with so much history and talent and a unique love for the quietly good player, Bote really shines. Glad there is so much video evidence because you have to see it to believe it. So jealous of my friends who were front row by the away on-deck-circle.
Everybody deserves to have a feeling like this!

Best moment of last season
I love the, well the pitching coach probably told him to keep the ball down so go down with him The strategy of baseball is what makes moments like these so special
I was on vacation in Vegas and was jumping up and down in the hotel room when this happened. Our best moment of 2018 by far #CubNation
I love this team it’s my favorite! Keep on the good work
Wilson Contreras can actually run pretty well especially for a catcher
That was a great game....a game to remember. I always have liked Bote and it was great that he had this kind of moment!!!

My heart raced during this video and I already knew what happened. Go Cubs Go!!
These are edited so beautifully. Always a good watch
#1: I love the imagery of his wife standing on the balcony, listening to GCG after her husband hit a walkoff slam. #2: I watched all but that at-bat with the sound off because...A-Rod, but it was a great call by Vasgersian.
As a baseball fan first, and a St Louis Cardinals fan 2nd. Moments like this in baseball are just amazing. If this would of happened to my team, I would of even been mad.
This stuff is absolutely amazing! Keep making stuff like this man. Fantastic
LOVED THIS! What a great breakdown!
I remember listening on the radio and I couldn't believe it. This is why I love baseball, moments like this.
Here in 2024 on the day Bote was called back up. This dude might not be a HOFer but he's done so much for the Cubs and I'm so damn happy to have him back.
AWESOME! Great job with this production Cubbies

It was my birthday that night and I was in the city, I was walking around downtown when I walked by a bar that had the game on TV. I walked up right before Bote got up to bat and thought how crazy it would be if this happened, especially on my birthday xD
I had a similar moment, I was looking outside fastball, then boom first pitch into the gap in right center. It was a game tying triple.

5:33 as a catcher, my legs were always sore, so it felt great to get a pinch runner for me. why does it feel better to pinch run for someone instead tho?
@danielseguin5099
5 жыл бұрын
I'm a catcher as well, but with a different perspective. It's no doubt an ego thing. More often than not as a ballplayer I was the one doing the pinch running, but I remember how deflating it felt the first time I was lifted for a pinch runner. It almost feels like the coach doesn't trust you enough to score that run.
