Johnny Carson always applauded Dave for going out into public to get laughs. He said thats what made Lettermans show unique!
One of my favorite segments was Dave calling a radio station where listeners would call in to report traffic problems. So Dave calls in anonymously to report that cars at his location seem to be completely gridlocked, not moving at all. The radio station is very intrigued wanting more details on the situation. Dave keeps filling them in, but then finally says, "oh never mind, it was just a red light." LOL
