What a fantastic drum sound. Awesome. Dave has been one of my favourite players for 35 years. Such taste and flavour. He has got the chops too. One of the greatest players in the world.

The camerawork, editing and sound is amazing. This is recorded and videographed better than most cymbal and drum demo videos.

How the hell does this guy keep getting better? Every time you think the apex of drumming has been reached, another year goes by and a new Dave Weckl video is on youtube and somehow the bar has been raised.. it's astonishing. There is no better complete drummer on this planet... there are a lot of good ones, but nobody close to Dave as far as the total package..

MONSTER!!! DAVE was born to play drums. Insane Total control on the kit. G.O.A.T.

On a whole other level. Artistry at its highest. Unsurpassed musicianship. Execution excellence. It simply doesn't get any better. This is drumming at it absolute best.

Still the most seamless transitions from surface to surface, and best dynamic control of any drummer I’ve ever heard. Sooooo fluid. Not to mention groove ability. Incredible.

@BAZ INGA Gadd, Colaiuta etc are NOT unknown and they are amazing drummer... but Weckl has something more, Weckl is the first. Period.

Phantastic video, phantastic drummer. Heard him live 12 times since 1985 getting better and better over the years. To me his musicianship shines most at 10:38. Reminds me of Al Jarreau 🥰

That last solo is master piece

Incredible playing and after 50 yrs he definitely plays fantastic. Bellisimo italian for beautiful. Thats exactly what it is. Great Dave!

He just gets better and better... loads of guys with technique only but Dave has a great drumming mind AND knows to leave spaces ☑️

That music he played to was very complex, and his playing is very complex. I didn’t see him look at a music sheet once, so unless I’m mistaken that’s even more impressive. I guess when you’ve been playing as long as he has, you just internalize it. What a fantastic musician.

D'accord! That's the high art, and playing the right things/parts at the right moment in a song or piece of music. That is the most difficult part I would say. These Yamaha-drums sound so awesome here.

So nice to come here from a Thomas Lang video. This is just right.

Thomas Lang is awesome. But I enjoy Weckl so much more because of the smoothness of his playing. So much more enjoyable to the ears. Lang to me is choppy in comparison.

always Mr Dave are the Best sensation player in the world ..thanks dave thanks to the recorder.

Dave is the best combination of every feature that a drummer can have, so for me is the best of the best for every time. Best combination of precision dynamics songwriting musicality.

He would be one of the all-time best if only technique was a criterium! But now he's one of the all-time best for so much more.

I honestly have to say that I’m now completely changed by such an artiste as this. All hail The Weck!

Weckl is so smooth in his playing!! got to give him props for that!!! nice flow and touch!!!

Dave, Dave, Dave... To play that busy, that fast, and that smooth is incredible by itself, and to play every note spot on is incredible. Not My favorite style of music to listen to, still, Dave is my favorite drummer of all time.

That's last piece is like a thousand little drumming orgasms all at once. This guy gets better and better, the ultimate synthesis of technique, musicality, accuracy, dynamics and sheer f*cking excitement. Man, I giggled at some of the brilliance in there. 👍

Да уж!Не часто увидиш на Украинской сцене такой хоть и короткий ,но блестательный мастер класс!!!Конечно, сейчас в ю-тюбе много чего удивительного, познавательного и полезного,классных и виртуозных барабанщиков,да и вообще музыкантов,разных мастер-классов и выступлений,смотри ,слушай и учись ,ведь на сколько легче чему-то обучиться,если тебе все показали и разяснили наглядно ,было-бы желание.Послушав Дэйва-отмечаю для себя отсутствие желания сломать палочки ,выбросить установку через окно и больше не прикасаться к барабанам а наоборот завожусь ,начинаю дергаться и отбивать ногами,одним словом вдохновляет, жаль только годы не вернуть и здоровье не уже не то. Хочется обратиться к молодому поколению с призывом:-Пока вы молоды пробуйте,дерзайте,познавайте не прожигайте зря свою жизнь на сомнительные "удовольствия",каждая минута потраченная хотя-бы на какое-нибудь творчество,музыку или спорт принесут вам пользу и приятные воспоминания.Будьте здоровы,в добрый путь!

Не так давно смотрел видео с ним, где он говорил, что с возрастом (что удивительно!) добился бОльшей координации и баланса. Также, ушли проблемы со спиной, которые он испытывал при игре в молодости. Еще говорил, что не нужно заниматься всякой дичью и т.д., потому что это неминуемо приведет к отрицательному результату. В общем, Вы в последних предложениях своего коммента об этом говорите. Короче, Дэйв Вэйкл рулит!!!

Play drums and take lessons anyway. It's fun! Weckl started that way. And who cares if you're never as good as him. If everyone thought that then he'd be the only drummer.

Amazingly gifted musician.

I remember seeing Buddy Rich live at least three times years ago and marveled at his ability to solo and play with a big band. I know Dave is a fan of Buddy's too and has mentioned him a number of times. Dave Weckl has become the guy that nobody comes near as far as being the all around package. There are many incredible drummers but there's only on Dave Weckl. Long live the king.

@@danielefalchetti1732 sì, sai...poi ognuno ha i suoi gusti musicali, ma credo che su una cosa tutti possiamo essere d'accordo, come qualcun altro ha scritto qui: lui non percuote la batteria, la suona...con una leggerezza senza pari, che mi ha sempre favorevolmente impressionato e che lo distingue da molti altri....rimanendo sullo stesso genere musicale ad esempio (fusion) pensa a quanto è diverso Billy Cobham

Суперчеловек! Король ударных! Хоть и немало отсидел за установкой в своё время, но когда Дейв спрашивал - есть ли в зале барабанщики, я бы руку поднять постеснялся))) О всех великих знаю, за Веклом слежу сколько он есть. Король!

Был на этом мастер классе,все прошло отлично,кстати был свободный вход

The drum mix in this video is great. Sound guy had it together. Weckl as amazing and effortless as ever.

it sounds woefully inadequate to call Dave Weckl a "great drummer" because he is truly much more than that! IMO, there's never been better. He's a joy to hear and see play and he's also just a good guy.
