    6:03 Whenever you're dealing with a competitive mindset... I call it being locked in.... People who got locked into a vision, that’s it, that’s their drive, that’s their passion, Critics don’t matter, this doesn’t matter, they are going to do whatever it fucking takes to be the best at what they do. Most people in society will never understand that, because they’ve never had passion about anything. People who’ve had passion about things and worked their ass off for it, will totally get it.

    u know, I woke up this morning feeling totally down. I'm goin thru the motions of breakfast, shower, etc. and had no motivation to go to the gym today. Watched a couple mp45 vids and bodybuilding motivation vids, as well as this and as of now I have the drive to go to the gym in a few minutes. Thank you.

    That's good advice dude. If you want to do something give it your all and put the work in. If you make it awesome, if you don't fuck it, you gave it your best. That said you should enjoy the journey, chances are you will. So at the end of it if you had a good time, it was worth it.

    Inspiring video and I love the candor. While I understand Tate is not a researcher and was speaking empirically I want to point out one thing. In "Outliers" Gladwell goes into detail about the advantages gained by some in youth programs. His research concludes the opposite of what Tate said, that late-bloomers are the exception to the rule that those who are born later towards the cutoff date of their youth leagues pick up advantages in training that the younger players usually cannot overcome.

    most people say 5x5 is too much volume for a natty. i would suggest reading some literature like "starting strength and practical programming" because once you understand how the body and anabolism works, you can design yourself a much better routine than following a cookie cutter routine.

    No I made a typo and corrected it. Volume training is an inefficient way to train if size or strength is your goal; this myth was disproven decades ago. If you want to do curls till the cows come home, by all means be my guest.

    I don't remember how he was alerted to the idea but he confirmed it by looking at the birthdates of NHL players and saw the majority (70%+ iirc) of them were in a span of a couple of months. This held true in Euro hockey and, I think, he said soccer leagues as well. I got a torrent of the audiobook, was a fascinating listen in general if this is up your alley.

  • @deadpan237
    @deadpan23712 жыл бұрын

    that sounds like a good routine, i would keep going and focus on gradually bringing up the weight on all your exercises. if you start hitting a snag you might need to evaluate your body and to find weak points and do a bit of isolation work for those, for example abs are a common weak point for both squats and deadlifts. a lot of westside trainers advocate this approach. upper back/rear delts are another common weak point.

    I agree but at the same time you meet people everyday who are genuinely convinced they can be the next Ronnie Coleman, not only drug free but can get close to that size within a few years. More often than not these are the people that give up too early and start taking drugs and DON'T reach their full potential, rather than being realistic about their goals and learning the effects of the drugs and how to use them properly, and using them once they reached the proper point in their training.

    Read work by respected coaches/scientists like Frederick C. Hatfield, Alexander Prilepin and Vladimir Zatsiorsky, also official ACSM Training Guidelines. Also read on muscle fiber types, fiber activation and which types have most size potential. Then read up on recovery periods and resultant hormone fluctuations of neuromuscular fatigue vs high-percentage muscle fiber activation. Then myofibrillar vs sarcoplasmic hypertrophy (since you keep asking). Or keep reading musclemag and stay small.

    ... @deadpan237 a 5x5 program is one of the programs with the least volume unless you want him to do 5/3/1 which would be ridiculous cause he doesnt have the technique nor the cns development to go uninjured... thats 25 reps compared to a beginner 3x10 which is 30 reps and tons more bodyparts per session and less rest.

    Volume isn't the key, as it tends towards sarcoplasmic instead of myrofibillar hypertrophy. Intensity is the key. Volume and failure are for builders looking for size, not strength athletes. But it's important to remember that one should supplement strength training with endurance, cardio, and even fuckin yoga and breath training to develop a strong all-around base. Specific goals are for elite athletes; most people want to be take a wide variety of challenges.

  • @DEIMOSLOL
    @DEIMOSLOL12 жыл бұрын

    =/ his analogy of flipping the ace is pretty clever but it makes me question the relevance of that to bodybuilding. With bodybuilding you're continually using drugs, (not just anabolic steroids), and its not like a 5 yr boost where you drop off and fall at the end. If so, then why is it that a pro football player will drop out after taking steroids but a pro bodybuilder won't. ?? doesn't make sense to me

  • @AmericanTestConstitution
    @AmericanTestConstitution11 жыл бұрын

    if 99 percent of the people on here took steroids to try to become a pro athlete they would still not make it to the big leagues. Taking roids will not teach anyone all the skills for base ball, foot ball or MMA. Taking roids will not give someone basic genetics of Mark McGuire either. If their were no drugs, McGuire would still be ahead of almost all in the world speed, strength, timing power. If McGuire were all natural he would still be stronger than many people that use them. It's true!

  • @Midgert89
    @Midgert8913 жыл бұрын

    @pisswizzard Not in bodybuilding you won't. It's different to get strong but to keep all that muscle with 2% bodyfat is impossible after a certain weight.

    You're being stubborn. Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy is the creation of sarcoplasm in the muscle cells. IE building sarcoplasm. Or "generating". Whatever. It's really not that hard to understand. I'm assuming you already know what sarcoplasm is. In which case you should also know the role of myoglobin, and which types of muscle fibers utilize myoglobin. Read those things I mentioned in the previous comment, especially "Science and Practice of Strength Training" by Zatsiorsky.

    there's too many variables that come into play to say volume isn't the best way, or it is. it worked for the bulgarians, russians, and chinese in OLY lifting. that's a SHIT TONNE of volume and they're strong as fuck. are they doing it wrong? equally a lot of powerlifters have success with a lot less.
