Been in field 30 years and my mind is stronger than my bones. Not many people are able to make the commitment for the current pay structure that is common in the field. Techs need health care provided at no cost to them , paid vacation at least 2 weeks a year and all the bank holidays. We buy our tools tie up our available credit to buy them. And work in shops that may not have climate control year round.

I’m 23 and a mechanic myself. I’ve been working at the same shop for 7 years now. Started when I was 16. I went to high school for 2 hours in the morning and then did “co-op” the rest of the day at the shop. Counted as credits for school and I got paid. I have to say now that it’s been 8 years that I wish I went a different route. My life has gotten a lot more intense and stressful and I have a huge problem with confidence in my work now. I second guess my work and things I’m fighting daily and it drives me crazy!! My anxiety is crazy high and my job time slowed down by a lot. I realized that I was to caught up in my head and not telling myself the positive thoughts I needed to hear. That reassurance that gives you the will power to say “it’s tight!” And walk away with confidence. Now after trying to better myself at work for the past 2 months after realizing that, I am now 10 times more confident I was 2 months ago. My days go by easier. Yeah not everyday is the same and I have my bad days. But I keep pushing myself and telling myself my work is good as it’s never ever came back in my life for my own wrong doing after 8 years!! I tell myself that also, and it keeps my confidence high. I still have a lot more to work on but I’ll just keep getting better. I told myself months ago that this job isn’t for me anymore, just not realizing that it was my lifestyle I was living and my thoughts that were stopping me from being the best at what I do. I’m hoping I can keep getting better at this and eventually be the best mechanic there is. Never give up. Keep fighting. Show yourself the love you need. It’s what you have to do to be great. I’ve been through A LOT trust me on that one, but I never gave up!

It's a few visits to my high school in shop class from people like this is what got me in the field 30 years ago. From busting tires in the beginning to now being a race official and expanding into repair of tractors boats pwc and utv/atv. My phone rings everyday with service and repair work. Keep it up Dave

Dave that was a great tour of your factory. That's so nice of you to give them kid's a chance to see your shop and your techs. I was just as excited if not more excited then them students to watch this video. Like yourself i have been in the automotive business since i was 13 years old. Im just around the corner of turning the big 50 this month. Im not in this business to chase money. It's the satisfaction of bringing thing's back to life. That feeling is priceless and very rewarding even to this day. I take much pride in what i do and dealing with the public. Thank you for your videos and sharing your amazing wealth of knowledge.❤❤❤

Got a 4 part saying I’ve come up with over the years of performing repairs. Time Parts Tools Knowledge Have to have all 4 or it won’t work. Usually for my application time is the hardest one to acquire. Mining shovels making $1000/minute are hard to get ample time with. Great video glad to see there is some interest from the young folks in being mechanics & good on you for taking the time to show them your business and speak of your story with them.

Love your work Dave, I'm from Australia and used to work in a transmission shop, wish my boss showed me and the other employees the same respect that you show and had half the dignity and genuine passion that you do, Those are very lucky lads, I'm sure they'll remember that day for the rest of their lives, Working on fast cars is fun but not when you're at risk of injury and constant harassment from management, I wish I could say its a rare occurrence in this industry but it really isn't unfortunately, Thank you for showing the word how a Automotive shop SHOULD be run and what these kids should be looking out for, Cheers Dave looking forward to new videos 👊

Dave you remind me of my section commander in the British Army infantry basic training. He stood all 8 of us in line and said, “I’m here to teach you how to be a smart lethal killing machine that won’t get killed, or your teammates killed. He told us he’d lost friends in combat and his sole purpose in life was to get us ready for anything the enemy will throw at us. He was very emotional, that’s when it hit me hard. That my life would be forever changed from that day forward. It shows you care and that your proud to see these guys giving it a shot 🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍
