You just have to love how classically influenced his playing is. It really lends to puting emotion into music.

I love how Dave Suzuki goes "It's not that complicated, this is how the Dechristianized sweeps go" then he plays it faster than he does in the actual song.

i'm fairly certain that he said that they tried recording the tracks faster but the album turned out too short so they slowed it down for the recording but always play it at faster speeds during live performances

I know this is an old video. But hell, I really have to say, Dave is one freaki'n musician. Super cool and very talented.

Underrated music genius. His skills drumming are outstanding aswell.

He's a musical genius. Excellent guitarist, drummer and vocalist. And let's not forget that he plays bass for Vital Remains in studio.

@Clay Dude I'm pretty sure he does and i do as well, and 99% of solos in metal are trash. But my favorites are mostly king diamond/mf, Death, vital remains solos. It's important for solo to complement the song. Random hard-to-play arpeggios don't make a good solo

its a swept inverted d minor chord, then A, A#, C. All are inverted sweeps from the A string up high.

Have not seen any death metal band except Death with these soulful solos

Old Carcass albums have some of the best solos on the globe. The legato solo on Carnal Forge alone beats anything Death or Vital Remains have produced.

i love how few bands can make up riffs as wicked as tony lazaro's or solos as awesome as dave's

his soloing is highly influenced by Malmsteen, but he manages to put his own feeling in them, and they sound fucking awesome, well done sir.

nice abs, nice solos, nice music.

Dave was the reason I started playing guitar, years later working at guitar center he become one of my clients, he comes to watch my metal band play and crashes our interview after for a photo, and now we are friends that share a beer at shows and cookouts. Ifni would have been able to tell 12 year old me that the guy from a town over that made you start playing guitar and has seen the world would be hanging out with you at the bar slinging cold ones I wouldn't have believed it. Super nice guy, so humble and so down to earth

he's a beautiful, beautiful guitarist. This isn't bullshit generic metal leads. Always intelligent variations, and a gorgeous subtle mixture obscure/melodic. I'm not sure if he's a very very positive guy or a bit of a showoff here though...seems the first.

+Adam Davidson def a real as fuck dude. I talked shop with him on the Icons tour back what seems like forever ago. He was just chilling outside the venue and was more than happy to talk to fans. Was a great moment as a guitarist myself (young at that time also) to pick his mind and get some tips.

Not even that, many bands use leads that are way to obvious and boring. Yes a lot of skill, but poor musicianship. Dave makes songs shine with his melody and solos.

Dave has a way of adding a little bit of that "umph" to his solo's. They're very melodic and seem to just flow from his fingertips.

Through my eyes, Dave Suzuki is a Shawn Lane of extreme music. Multi-instrumental talent to the nth degree. But most importantly you can tell he's being who he was at that very moment.

I totally agree. His backup vocals are awesome. Dave is one of my favourite musicians when it comes to metal. Just amazing drums, guitars and vocals.

Inspiration.

I think the solos are put together in a way that really brings out the true metal lead sound. I've been playing arpeggios for awhile and I can't seem to make them sound "metal" but after seeing this I think I need to take some lessons from Dave. Its the perfect blend of melody and insanity

this guy has so much talent....... It's such a shame that he doesn't get as much recognition as you would hope other people have.

There is so much emotion in his playing .absolutely a maestro

I talked to Tony back on Dec. 20th when they played at my town. I was talking to him for a few minutes and he said that Dave quit because he had tons of personal stuff that he had to sort out.

these melodies are great!

One of my personal top neoclassical guitar players of all time and personally one of my biggest musical influences I feel he is horribly underrated. He puts so much emotion and feeling in his technique and execution. I am a huge fan of his playing with vital remains and what he is doing with churchburn.

Dave rules, he's definately the most talented death metal musician to date (and that is a hefty title). Dave is a master of guitar, bass, drums and in my opinion is one of the best death metal screamers. His tortured screams tie in perfectly with Glen Bentons guttural growls on dechristianize and icons of evil.

And an amazing drummer !

That is actually pretty common. Many people do it because they are more comfortable with those 3 fingers and higher up on the fretboard the frets are much closer together, so there is not much room. Chuck did it quite often.

Not a death metal fan, but I give the guy props for excelling at both guitar and drums. Dave's got some monster chops on both instruments! He can do neo-classical shred one minute and ultra-fast blast beats the next! I have a hard enough time trying to master one instrument, let alone two! LOL!
