If The Most Unwanted Music has million fans, then I'm one of them. If The Most Unwanted Music has one fan, then I'm THAT ONE. If The Most Unwanted Music has no fans, that means I'm dead.

actually though you have no idea how many times ive listened to the original i cannot believe im only seeing the remake now. i will never forget the night i got recommended the original on youtube at like 3am like 3 years ago and just listened to the whole thing, absolutely gobsmacked the entire time. i force everyone to listen to it whenever i can

yea I kinda like this song!!
i cant believe they updated the lyrics of the political rant section to include topics relevant to 2023. i heard chatgpt, canadian wildfires, and a few other things. AND they made a child read it this time. amazing

@@devorahallen4657 I had little problem hearing the segment - really it was only between the 'Virgin birth from a crocodile!" and "Who polluted the clean water?" I had problem making out.
I love how they identified all the slightly wanted things in the original and carefully redressed them!
At 17:44 the little girl shouts an old and rather niche Soviet space program slogan: "We were born to turn fables into history!" and then the more common "Glory to labour". Was not expecting that at all. So so funny
i love how everyone is having a blast. i knew this song would be fun to perform
This is simultaneously one of the most horrific and brilliant live performances in the history of music.
I'd love to see what versions of The Most Wanted and Most Unwanted songs you would get out of a survey now, it would be fun to have as a record of how tastes have changed since 2003

I don't think that was even 2003, iirc it was like 1997/98 or smth
19:10 Including enforced audience participation clapping in this at the end was genius.
They updated the Veteran’s Day verse from “big parade with guns and soldiers” to “something to do with war and carnage” to make it more disrespectful. Genius at work.

If I recall correctly those were the original lyrics but they changed it because they didn't want to make the kids sing that, but now they don't care 😂
The harmonica guys expressions made this about 5x better. Thats and the kids giggling at the soprano cowboy rapping.

They should perform it at the Texas theater. Or the world's fair.
Currently screaming at the top of my lungs at having discovered a live version of this blursed music
My husband and I have listened to the whole recording for a good many years now- every Labor Day. Our friends are now trained to call us up and sing-shout "Labor Day! Labor Day!" Oh, how I wish I'd known about the performance- I'd have tried to get there, but so pleased anyway to find this just now! Bravo! Kudos to the kids!
Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, Soldier. Titans of music.
One of my favorite pieces of music. Thanks Dave Soldier for the stroke of creative genius. It’s a pleasure to hear this with a live ensemble.
As succinctly as I can put it: What a time to be alive
this was a spiritual experience
I've listened to this song every year since 2007(?) To think that a group of people played this wonderful insanity live? Too much. This is great.
I can not believe I am seeing this right now.

And I thought it couldn't get any better than Portsmouth Sinfonia.
I know who wants that music: Wal-Mart. Last composer I knew of who dropped unsolicited plugs like that was Wesley Willis.

If the entire Royal Albert Hall Proms (London) was replaced with one single performance of this every year, I'd go annually without fail. It's a structural miracle on a level with Bohemian Rhapsody. Do all your shopping..at WALMART!

This is one of my favourite songs, and (until today) I've never heard any version of it but the studio one. I find, whenever I need to reset my mood or bring a sort of buzz to a dark or dull day. This is a glorious performance to find, and I'm glad I now have more than one version to listen to and enjoy!
Man, Boaz was KILLING it here. And I love how you guys went with a Casio MT-68 (or similar model), gave the whole thing Homestar Runner vibes that I ABSOLUTELY love.

I was smiling the whole way through it. Is there a mailing list for the next time you do this? Hopefully in under 25 years
Should have 100 million views
The ending is such an endearing part of the piece. So pretty for such a chaotic song.
CHILLS. I can't believe I missed seeing this in person. I heard this on Vicki Bennett's WFMU show ages ago and have been obsessed ever since.
There is nothing I hate about this song ever, and I will always love it as a musician. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
whoever organized it, you are a hero!
So awesome! I was very sad I couldn't get to NYC for this, so happy it's filmed! One of my favorite illustrations of how meaningless statistics can be!

greatest performance of all time bravo
I did not even know it was possible to perform this live
I am so upset I missed it, I hope it is performed again in the future
WHY DID I WATCH IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH??
So awesome, thanks for putting this together
I actually appreciate and enjoyed this amazing performance you guys did! It would be nice to perform this unwanted masterpiece sometime.
What was it the 15th anniversary of? How could any polls have picked these pieces out if they hadn't been composed yet? That last sentence was from before I saw the whole thing. It's explained at the end. People were polled on *elements* that they disliked in music, and he synthesized them all into this.

It was the 15th anniversary of Le Poisson Rouge. Sorry, that you couldn't make it to the concert. It was a blast getting to play with the orchestra. The last minute of this video of Dave Soldier explaining the polls that were used to inspire this composition was actually more in-depth and was before the performance of this piece. I can't believe they voted that the harmonica was on the, "most unwanted," list. ;) haha. - Boaz Kim (harmonica player.)
OMFG loved this stuff ever since that piece on This American Life!
i absolutely love this
