Definitely a connection, she knows what seeing someone vomiting can do to an audience and didn't want to traumatize Amsterdam by vomiting in front of everyone. She felt that the audience wasn't into the show because of that first incident, so she gave the note to someone she thought should know, like a director or producer, and they decided to put it on Dave's desk. It is on one of her favorite memories of the show videos. Maybe this will be one of her favorite memories from her show! The question now is, was she the person they saw vomit. I'd say "no".

Barf is hilarious, when handled properly, or preferably not handled.

For a few reasons, I think this conversation would have really worked on Dave's 1980 morning show.

Oh man, that was disgusting as hell, plus I also laughed hilariously. A stained glass window of feelings. I hope the non-barf parts of the trip were fun.

My wife and I had a great meal at the Brat Stop in Kenosha. Exiting, she vomited just outside the entrance. (Same problem, Barbara.) We hightailed it out of there. She won't go to restaurants anymore. She saw your photo and she agrees, "nice pants".

Mr. Letterman, I found your lost marbles. Literally. Remember when you rolled thousands of marbles down a hill in San Francisco? my mom and I recognized the hill, so went out bright and early the next morning and searched for any remaining marbles. Your crew did a fantastic job cleaning them up, but we were able to find a few handfulls of marbles waaay down the hill. I would love to see some more clips from Dave's week long stint in San Francisco in the mid 90s. Especially the marbles.

I know someone who has gastroperesis that is actually a Dr and she assures me that it's a real thing 😂

Wonderful that Barbara visited my country, would have loved to greet her. Next time visit Rotterdam, so much more beautiful than Amsterdam. Completely rebuilt since WW2, looks like New York in its infant phase.

I once many moons ago threw up on the streets of Amsterdam when I was 20 years old because I had eaten mushrooms. The next 7 hours where quite eventful.

This could be the single greatest episode in the history of television. Plus the KZread subtitles call her "Barbie Games", which makes it even better.

Omg, I relate way to mich to this. I have gastroparesis and while Barbara was talking I was thinking I hope she has been checked for it as acid reflux is a common misdiagnosis and more suspicious when the reflux treatments don't control it. I was so shocked when Dave mentioned gastroparesis as it's not usually mentioned when people talk about stomach problems. Mine is quite severe and to avoid getting caught with no empty sorbet cups to hand I have a tote bag that I have a sandpail or small garbage can inside that I can hide by closing but can theow the flap back quick as needed and it's really a life saver! I wouldn't want anyone else to need to carry this around with them but it really makes life a lot easier when you vomit at unexpected times!

@ForbinColossus yes, it was ruled out several times :) They have since found I have a number of other linked symptoms related to a neuro immune issue that is likely the cause of it all :)

Barbara, don't let the sherbert dish/street incident keep you from another Amsterdam visit. Try the Van Gogh museum or the tulip village for your next throat upset.They've got lovely designated areas at each of those places. Hello, Mary!! Good to see your guest again!

If I hadn't already subscribed, this would have clinched it. Barbara came on strong and I thought this was going to be her moment to shine. I did not expect the visual proof of her Dutch induced vomit. Didn't they used to call Reagan Dutch? That would explain a lot. Keep up the great work, I'm retired and the alert for this show is one of my few remaining pleasures.

Not sure as to your situation, but my sister was having a lot of AI and digestive problems and she cut gluten out of her diet and it changed her life (for the better).

@@TheArmchairrocker Blood sugar issues in my family, and I was told to cut out gluten and added sugar. I was so choked, I thought, "how is this even possible?" I started these issues much younger than other people in my family. But I figured it out and it completely turned around my health.

@@TheArmchairrocker I have been tested for gluten intolerance but it was negative but I did cut it out for a few weeks but nothing really changed, I do have to make lifestyle changes tho, but when the pain is overwhelming it is hard to even get up, let alone go shopping and working out but I am going to try my best

@@TheArmchairrocker I am changing to a veggies and fruit diet only with some lean meats sprinkled in, mostly veggies and cutting out processed sugar and processed foods, I might have a couple sodas and a couple of beers per week instead of every day. I also just started a biologic medication which I hope will help!

Beside how funny this few minutes of “show” is and I am a huge fan of Dave and Barbara who of course was one of the producers on his Late show but it got my attention what you wrote: I agree it wasn’t the most desirable thing to talk about how much she was puking,but Dave was right: it is gastroparesis. I have it for almost 30 years, but I don’t let myself go so far to throw up. But that means that I can barely eat, I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a meal. I eat a few bites and I feel I am very full, can’t eat a bite more. Yes I was diagnosed with gastroparesis,but no doctor could help me to this day. I’m taking Prilosec that helps very little,but I actually don’t really have acid reflux or heartburn, I don’t have those symptoms. I am struggling with this for so long. Since you mentioned that you know someone who has it and she’s a doctor I hope you don’t mind me asking,does she know what helps with that, I know there is no cure or medication specifically for that,but does she do something that helps her? I would so much appreciate if you can find out something. Thank you 😊

Was this know during the Vietnam War? Probably not or we would have bombed and totally destroyed it. For their own good, of course.

@MostAmused I saw your comment about your wife, I too suffer for almost 30 years with gastroparesis--Dave is right that is the name of the condition ---after just a couple of bites I can’t eat anymore I feel very full, if I try to eat more then I have to throw up. But I don’t let myself go that far which means I can barely eat and no doctor was able to help me all these years. I can’t remember when was the last time I enjoyed a meal. Since you said your wife has this problem,did she find any help? I hope you don’t mind me asking, they told me there is no cure or medication for it, it’s extremely unpleasant, it actually turns your life upside down. So I hope you don’t mind, I thought I ask.
