My take on this song is very different.. I was in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship for ten years. When I symbolically put him and us into the ground, I never thought I could recover - I've spend the last year and a half opening up my eyes - seeing the world and rediscovering all there is to have and be. 💜

Lisa DeBerger Wheeler I’m so sorry for your loss .... That’s truly devastating ... My husband died when I was 34 and thankfully we had 2 sons to keep me focussed on living .... They’re now in their 20’s and I’m still widowed but I don’t think I’ll ever meet someone like my late husband and it’s ok because every time I look into my sons eyes he’s there with me ... When they smile, laugh, make jokes, talk, give and be themselves, I never lost my husband ... I might not be able to hold him or physically touch him but he’s there watching over us and very proud of his sons who have grown into fine young men ... I have no idea on how to help with your pain as I feel my own pain and there’s no cure, only hope that we can live on and somehow look back and smile at our good times and know they’re still with us and wanting us to keep going as pain free as possible ... Sending you lots of love ... I’m so sorry, I wish I could help ❤️

I can see that pain in your eyes. I didn't lose the love of my life yet and I'm just 19 but I hope she won't leave me but when I ask her that if i die today then will she marry someone else and her answer remains yes🙂. She says she will marry someone else because of her conservative parents. Who is right and who is wrong? You can answer this question in th best way. And if she's wrong, should I leave her?

@@ravitosh7909 when you have a deep love for a spouse you absolutely DO want them to get married again if you die because you want them to continue to live healthy. Grief would pass after a healthy mourning period. Always you two should want what is healthiest for each other.

Mourning someone, I guess it depends on age, how long you were together, and how deep your relationship was. Everyone grieves in a different way. Some never get over it. My experience with loss is you never forget how much you loved someone. With time the pain does ease. You can think about them, fill your heart with good memories, and appreciate what you had without any pain.Your life adjusts with the fact they are no longer with you. Loving someone means you want what is best for them. Life is meant to be spent with love. Bless each other to find new love once the pain is in a good place. Best wishes to you.

I love everything he has done his music has got me through some really tough times

I miss my grandmother so much it hurts. I've been listening to this song for the better part of a few hours on repeat and just crying my eyes out. She had dementia and she hated knowing that her memory was fading. I had many beautiful moments with her before she passed, I lived with them and was a caretaker. I know she is doing much better now, but it still hurts, my heart is broken in ways it shouldn't be. When she opened her eyes on the other side, I know she left all her pain behind, and it must have been beautiful for her. Thank you for this song, it hurts so much to relive so many memories, but it helps also...

Just wanted to find a way to get a message to chris. I have C-PTSD. from some childhood trauma. I'm not asking for anything, just wanted him to know that while I'm in intensive therepy his music his voice has helped me in more ways than I could ever explain. Everyday his voice and words in his songs give me strength and am getting stronger everyday. Thank you seems so tiny, but I wanted him to know there's a girl in Iowa who through his music is a huge part of my healing. Thank you could never b enough.

This song Hit so different for me. In 2009 I gave birth to an Angel. It wasnt until this song came out that I really started to greive her loss. And while this is talking more about people who have lived a life already, For me this really represented my daughter as she never got to open her eyes to see her very first sun rise. So to me it talks about how she got to open her eyes in a land and world where pain sory doesnt exist and how she will get to enjoy a different life full of happiness and love, as she was greeted and protected by her Great Grandparents, Step-Grandma...

My daughter and I cried to this song many time... as we lay him down when she was only two... Now I cry as I lay her down and it takes on a totally different meaning as he meets her on the other side... Who could of known... For the first day of her life she opens her eyes... This reminds me of my grandparents I miss ya both.

This song always makes me think of my grandparents. My grandpa died when my dad was 15 so I never knew him. My grandma loved him so strong. She had 3 kids and was pregnant when he passed. She stayed married to him even though he was no longer here, he was still her heart. She waited 50 years to reunited with him, as true to him and in love with him as always. She said she didn't need to move on and marry again when she already had a husband she loved. Kind of what the song says to me.

This song speaks to me i ln different ways no one would truly understand and would misinterpret....

@Samara Vasquez that date will forever be with you. I hope you have found healing knowing that he no longer suffering. I lost my mother 30 yrs ago. The only day that really gets to me is Mother's Day. Knowing that her suffering had ended really helped me. I will always miss her and think about her nearly every day. I celebrate her on her birthday. I honor her on her new birth date, which is the day she died. 9/3/90 I find comfort knowing that we will meet again. I know she is waiting for me. Best wishes to you.
