Hubby and I I had that exact important conversation before the babies were even born. And as they got, they never knew who was for or against something they wanted to do. We’d send them out of the room to discuss whatever it was. Then called them back in and say, “Mommy & Daddy decided such n such” This way the children understand there is a united front. It’s also the same way with the grandchildren. As a family, we are the village! We are the united front. There is no playing us against each other! We are all on the same page!

I have 2 daughters and they both were the same way, in public perfect sweethearts and by the time they turned five were respectful and only had to be told once by me to do something. They're both in highschool and honor students today. Here's the key. Its not spanking and yelling. Its me just giving them attention, encouraging and supporting them. They're babies and they learn from you no matter what their attitude is at this young of an age. The problem arises when you don't participate in their lives and remain absent, and that doesn't just come in the form of being a deadbeat, but also from working too much while being in the same household.

When the little one said no I'm eating my ice-cream and went back for it the mom continued to try to get it for her so the dad had to take it. She was not on the same page and she did know he sat there and said it and the little one went back and mom was getting it for her again. This is disrespectful of her. I agree she did right to let her husband take the lead when he originally told her no. I know when i was growing up my mother said no but we will go ask my dad and he said yes not knowing the original answer was no.

She never would of had ice cream 🍦🍨, if that was me. I would of ate that ice cream. Then I would of rinsed that container out and dried it. Put it back in the plastic bag and preserved it every time she asked for ice cream 🍨🍦. She would of definitely learned a valuable lesson every time. She will be buying her own ice cream 🍦🍨 when she gets older 🥄

You can see , she is not afraid to challenge her father, and he's the father.

This is an example of counter parenting, rather than coparenting. This is caused by indecisive parenting that is then exploited by the kids to triangulate mom and dad against each other. Stop telling your children stuff like “What did mom/dad say?” or “I don’t care, ask your mother/father and see what they say.” Make a decision and stand by it. Stop delegating simple decision making to your coparent and making the kid a messenger or go-between
