Datsun 411 Bluebird EV - First Roll with Battery Power

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the first run of my conversion of a 1967 Datsun Bluebird as an electric vehicle. It uses the motor and controller from a 48V golf cart mated with an automatic transmission from a 1994 Geo Metro and custom suspension. There are currently no brakes of any kind on the car, so my testing is limited to the driveway. It seems like it will have pretty good zip; calculated top speed is 35 mph with a range of 7-14 miles.

Nice breaking system ;) You should have a James Bond style compartment under your bumper to drop more of those "braking systems" XD. Nice car, nice conversion, good luck with your electric Bluebird!

+Ted Darland - My car is an RL411, so it had front discs and rear drums from the factory. I rebuilt the front calipers with seals and pistons available on eBay. I rebuilt the rear cylinders with seals available widely. I replaced the stock single-line master cylinder with the dual line master cylinder from a 1977-81 280zx. I ran a new line from the master cylinder to the rear brake line using a 3/8-24 union. I ran another line from the M/C to the factory brake line tee with the rear line output on the tee plugged. Make sure those new lines have 3/8-24 line nuts on the car end and M10x1 line nuts on the M/C end. You may need a longer pushrod for the new master cylinder. If you have a PL411 with front drums, find an RL disc setup or buy a conversion kit from Blue Hands, Inc. (I have bought two from him, they are great). You will need to run non-stock wheels with the kit, 14" or larger.
