Ah children, back in my day, we didn't have dating apps. We had party phone lines! Call a number, and get matched with a person or go into a voice chat room of sorts. I knew a girl who used one of these lines to arrange a "paid date" with a man. Turns out, she and her boyfriend jumped the guy to rob him and ended up murdering him and stealing his car. The guy was a local attorney, so his disappearance was front page for a couple days until his body was found. That was when I saw this chick's mugshot on the news, and was like, "oh no! If I had to guess, it's because if both were equally punishing, it'd encourage people to go through with the murder. Less punishment for an attempted murder means the criminal always has the choice of a lesser punishment if they decide to stop before it's too late. If the punishment was just as harsh, they would likely go through with it to eliminate a key witness.

Going in I thought the guy was going to get shot trying to fight the robbers or something like that, but no, they just added a murder charge onto a few hundred dollar robbery for absolutely no benefit. Were they afraid of being identified? It doesn't sound like he knew them. Were these lowlifes stupid enough to rob a guy at gunpoint without masks? I have a story like this. I live in a pretty small town in Ireland (population 19,000). We had a scary few days in which a serial killer was on the loose. On the first day, a man was attacked and was nearly blinded while walking his dog. On the next day, a TD (politician) was found murdered and sexually mutilated. On the last day another man was found dead, a home-help nurse who was very badly mutilated in a manner similar to the first murder. To make matters worse, his teenage nieces were the ones who found him. Both of the men were (perhaps closeted) gay men who were using Grindr or some other app to set up meetings. It turned out the killer was a 23 year old Middle Eastern man who had grown up in the town. He was in the year below me at school, but I didn’t really know him. He came from a particularly conservative Muslim family with a hyper-masculine father. His motive solely derived from his hatred of gay people, but some people suspected that he was gay himself. A terrible story all around and a pretty crazy thing to happen in such a small town.

The Wade Ridley case is very distrubing because he is not much different from most abusers. This is something I learned from the book "Why does he do that" by Lundy Brancroft. The terrifying thing is that when he attacked those women, he didn't lose control like he claims. It's clear that he didn't lose control because he didn't hurt himself or anyone besides the woman he wanted to attack. When he said "She needed to pay for what she has done", that is the more accurate statement. She has hurt him and he believes he is entitled to punish her in retaliation, and that murder is a justified punishment. This has throughly convinced me never to touch online dating again, thanks. Yes, men like this exist outside of online dating too, but they usually have reputations that follow them. Online dating makes everything much easier for men with dangerous attitudes. BTW, it is not much different with Stephan Port. Stephan Port has fantasies about what his perfect romantic partner will be like, and when the boys he meets don't live up to that, and disappoint him or hurt him in the process, he believes that he is entitled to murder them. In his mind, literal murder is equal to whatever tiny and probably unintentional offenses these boys committed.

Online dating may seem totally harmless at first glance, however, there’s so much more to it than meets the eye. People should always be cautious who they’re interacting with online. It may seem extra, but the least they could do is to verify the identities of the people they’re engaging with. Check if they had extensive criminal record, have an NBI clearance, to name a few examples. Overall, this video really puts into our minds the importance of being constantly and consistently careful with what we’re up to in various social media apps apart from those which kinda specialize on dating.

Unfortunately this is the world we live in. In order to minimize your risk when using online dating apps/websites, always meet in a public place that has a decent amount of people like a restaurant. Drive yourself (do not let the other person give you a ride) and if you can, take a photo of said persons car and send it to your safety contact. Which brings me to my next point, have a safety contact. Send a photo of the person you’re meeting, and their name, as well as where you’re meeting them to a friend or family member. Someone should always know where you’re going and who you’re meeting. Don’t keep things on the DL for your own safety. You can also have check in times with your safety contact where they know to reach out to you if you haven’t touched base and call the cops if they can’t get ahold of you. You and this safety contact should have something like “friend finder” on your phone so they can pinpoint your location. Do NOT go home with them no matter how hot they are and don’t let them come to your home. Wait until you know them better. They shouldn’t know where you live. Is some of this excessive? Maybe. And odds are you’re not going to need it, the average person isn’t. But better to have safety plans in place and not need them then to need them and not have them.

a girl from Green bay wisconsin did the same thing, drove some kid down to milwaukee and the kid got beat up and robbed, and then they tossed him into the milwaukee river where he died cause this happened in the winter. at the time she was dating and i think still is with the little brother of my ex from hs. the courts didnt prosecute her AT ALL instead slapped her on the wrist and literally gave her a police escort where ever she went. they literally protected her and she was the cause of what happened. she had the idea, she drove the poor bastard to his death knowing damn well what was gonna happen. still to this day she has a presence on the internet, she goes around the city " with some ppl still remembering shes a f-ing killer" and she got away with it cause she was a young mother who didnt know any better.. oh and shes white with her daddy having connects in the courts in brown county. its honestly sick cause this regularly happens in wisconsin where women do heniouse shit and they get away with it cause their women. its mind boggling how she got away with actual fucking murder. then went on to commit multiple acts of fraud and drum rollllll...she got away with it again cause ' im a young mother who doesnt know any better".... like idk how tf you use the same plea 2x and it works both times. at this point the whole city was sick of her shit and last i heard she skipped town but didnt go far cause i was working on a building in wrightstown wisconsin and their was matthew, working on the line.. like yall couldnt move further then 25 miles south of Green Bay? hes your stereotypical white guy from the burbs to, he was a good kid but idk wtf happen the best way to describe him is go watch the Chappels show episode were they do a wife swap and the burbs kid white boy turns into a thug cause somehow growing up in that situation was so damn hard. Which his dad was loaded, his ma was a nice women as well like the whole family was nuclear and loving, i dead ass stayed with his sister for a long time cause i enjoyed being around her family.. i grew up in the poorest area in gb living on section 8 so like i said i have no idea what fueled the kid to turn into such a pos and im certain he had a hand in that murder cause he went to war to defend his girls actions in luring and murdering that poor kid. to the point he got his ass kicked at a mcdonalds cause some dudes got sick of his mouth on the internet and waited for him to get done with work. he pressed charges just like any hardcore gangbanger would lol but the whole city funded a go fund me to pay for the guys bails that whipped his ass. So much more info on the internet about what happened i think anyone that made a video on it would get a lot of views cause what happen is sooooo fucked up and the fact she got no time for assisting in murder was just shocking. i Had to do a lot of digging but her name is Emma Brud, clearly her family has done a lot to clean up anything on the internet about what she did but the mugshots of her are still up lol

It's easy to hide what you feel inside on the internet. You don't have to worry about blanking out or making a nervous impression in front of someone. But unfortunately the world is kinda twisted and you got to have a level of awareness when communicating with strangers. Don't just give out your personal info or be quick to show pics to people you just met. That very thing could land you on a dangerous position. I've seen teenagers online going around showing their house and stuff, and I'm like you could be doxxing yourself. Yeah fine, pets are cute. Point is, have a level of skepticism. If they aren't becoming too clingy or acting strange towards you, then open up with a friendly conversation. As long as you exercise caution, even a mentally ill person will have second thoughts messing with you.

My dad used the predecessor to a dating app back in the 70s, before he met my mom. Apparently it was some sort of "supercomputer" with an algorithm that matched people based on their questionnaire answers. The young lady he matched with was named Gretah, but he read it as "Greath" (yes, like "grease") and I guess was too embarrassed to do anything about it. I met my wife on Tinder, but I probably wouldn't be comfortable letting our kids use dating apps in the future.

I think it's mainly because the victims were a minority group. It definitely reminds me of Jeffery Dahmer, who's targets were POC (people of color) gay men. I've seen a pattern of this but police brings out many apathy to those who are gay, POC, etc. He even said in his interview that the reason his targets were black gay men was because police would've cared less. It's hard to tell this but it's true, police does not give the same equal amount of empathy when it comes to race or orientation.

So, I meet this gal on POF and we get to chatting through the website. I look over her profile and she claims to be 26 years old, 5'2" (I'm 5'7") with an average build. By her photographs, she looks very pretty and I have no reason to doubt that this is not her. Flash forward a few days later when we come to an agreement to meet up. The only way she can meet up is after work, as she works two jobs and goes to school. She asks me if I would like to hang out and talk by the park near her house at around 7pm. I did not think it was too odd as we had been flirting back and forth on the messenger and I was really taken by her. Well, I go to the park (which is already dark except for a single light post and a bench next to it) and I am now totally alone sitting on the bench. I look around and from the distance I see the shape of a woman coming towards me. As she comes closer to me, I start to notice a similar facial appearance to the woman in the POF photos. It's my date except she is not 5'2", average build, or even remotely looking like a 26 year old and more like a 6 foot tall 17 year old line backer. Right away I become uncomfortable- but I try to stay calm. We start chatting (bad idea) and she starts telling me that she has gone on over 200+ POF dates and almost always usually ‘bangs’ on the first date. She goes on to tell me that she wants to write a dating book about her "sexy" adventures in the online dating world. Well, after 30 or so minutes of back and forth chatter (mostly from her) I tell her that I need to leave as I had work the next morning. She agrees to let me go but only after I gave her a hug. I shrugged and said why not. Well as I go in for the hug, she pulls me in to her gravitational pull using what I can only describe as "alligator strength" and starts to bear hug me. As I start pulling away from her- her hands start stretching towards my butt which she firmly grasps like two sweet potatoes. I start saying something to the effect of "uh, yeah, okay, that's enough now" and she lets me go but not before giving my chest pecs a thorough examination with her butcher claws. After what seemed like an eternity, she lets me down from her grand bosom, I do a 180 spin as I tell her goodnight and start speed walking towards my car. I hear her say something as I am walking away but I was too frightened to look behind me. I jump in my car and speed off into the night.. never to see her again.

Dear guys and gals.... If Your significant other reads through Your phone without Your knowledge, as if having things hidden from them was some cardinal criminal offense, freaks out when You are simply talking to a person of another/preffered gender, as if exchanging few words was allready equal in his/her mind to bedding them... I don't care who You think he or she was in their "best". Just run away. Away from them. Break up, block their number, don't let them close to Yourself or Your loved ones. If they will keep harrassing You, do Your best to get a restraining order. Such diaturbed personalities are damn fertiliser for a ground on which insanity and every effed up thing that comes with it, can bloom. Place of such people is in straightjacket, not by Your side. And don't believe he/she will "change". It's a mental horrible issue and more often than not, such people are not possible to rehabilitate (as they don't see how anyone can view their waco actions as anything out of the "norm", and therefore don't see a reason in changing their attitude). If You ever come across such a person, do Yourself a favor and leave them as they deserved to be - by themselves.

This makes me even more hesitant to ever use dating apps again. I didn't have anything like this happen but I did get catfished by a girl using a several years old pic of herself who had,ahem..let herself go so to speak. Like badly. I stupidly told her where I lived beforehand and when I met her I went ahead and ate dinner with her bc I didn't want to hurt her feelings even tho she'd basically defrauded me lol. That turned into a 4 month long stalking episode where she was sending endless texts, calling, writing letters (who the hell does that anymore) showing up to my work and home, etc. It was a nightmare and I finally broke down and got a restraining order put on her bc I was at my wits end. Needless to say I've only met girls IRL since then at bars and stuff and I try to stick to the ones that have friends with them so I know at least someone can stand them.
