Just the thing to send in to OHAS as their penalties are heavier than a traffic fine. A company vehicle is a "work place" and can carry heavy penalties for unsafe work practice. Even if it is the drivers personal time (weekend/public holiday) off it is still a "work vehicle".

I have the same problem when I drive a 1928 Chevrolet. People don’t realise they’re heading for what they’re staring at. You also get the clowns in an adjacent lane who look at the car and not the road, and drift across into you. They think the horn is “cute” when you honk it at them to get away from you. I really need to run a dashcam in it to catch all the stupid crap it seems to attract, but having a 6V electric system makes that a difficult task unless I wire up a step-up transformer, or perhaps I should just get a GoPro.

@@commodorenut Most - if not all - consumer-level dashcams operate from a USB power supply, which is 5 volts DC. Since your '28 Chevy is a 6-volt system, you could probably get away with adding a diode inline with the camera's power lead (standard silicon diodes drop 0.7 volts, getting your supply voltage down to 5.3 volts, which should be safe) or you could also wire in an inexpensive 7805 (5-volt voltage regulator) to give you a 5-volt source.

@@dashcamandy2242 mate, you just gave me the biggest facepalm moment! I didn’t even think of the 5V requirement. You’re spot on. That makes it a lot simpler. It runs around 7.2v when driving, so I might use a basic voltage reg module and give it a consistent feed. Actually, I might try one of those cheap surface mount USB sockets that have flying leads on them, and can be hooked up to 12 or 24v (so they obviously have some sort of regulator in them). They’re cheap, and I can see if it works on 6-7V. Thanks for the tip.

@@sop1311 I’m assuming the speed limit is 100, not sure of the road to check and can’t see the signs. But my comment is about them brake checking the dash cam driver, they didn’t do that because they were about to be overtook, they did it because the dash cam driver purposefully dazzled them with the high beams and then exclaimed their children were in the car (despite engaging in road rage behaviour).

How some of these people get through the day is nothing short of a miracle

Good job to the learner at 12:55! As a mum of teens teaching kids is hard enough without idiots on the wrong side of the road!

I’ve been driving for 45+ years, and I’ve seen plenty of dumb shit over those years, but the level of stupidity theses days is almost beyond comprehension. Up until the last few years I was a rep on the road doing between 1000k to 2000k per week all over Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter region, if I was young and starting now, I don’t think I could do it. The IQ level of this country is surely getting lower and lower as each year goes by, madness!

this is a bit old man yells at cloud (sorry) because no matter how much you drive you wont ever catch up to the sheer amount of k's done in a day by all the dashcam users combined If anything things have improved because driving tests are getting stricter (my grandparents didnt even have to take one for crying out loud)

If you think I potter around at 40k’s, you’re wrong, I still drive as hard as I always have, but stay just within the boundaries not to get booked or get in trouble, ok? Anyway..... I think you completely missed the point, it’s not the ‘volume’ of dumb shit, it’s the ‘type’ of dumb shit I’m referring to. It’s the complete disregard for safety and full on aggression that stands out today, plus there are so many people who clearly don’t have a clue about how to drive. If you think drivers are better today, you must also believe elephants can fly too.

Mate, my daughter was the opposite, couldn’t wait to get her licence, I started to teach her from 17 (she’s 40 now). The main thing I drummed into her was that you have to think of every other driver on the road as an idiot, expect the unexpected, anticipate where possible, etc. But yes, glad I’m not having to teach a teen to drive today!

I don't see how she was driving dangerously. The pass was perfectly fine, the other car sped up as she tried to pass (probably not aware of the cammer), then braked hard, so the cammer pulled out to avoid that. I would have done the same and not sure what else she should do. Likely the other car wasn't deliberately and dangerously brake-checking but if that is not the case they are just incompetent.

Am I tripping? Or is KZread broken? People in the comments are mentioning time stamps above 10-20 minutes? And the video is 11:04. I watched the first 20 seconds of the video and paused, came back and it was on a different clip but still same video. The thumbnail clip was in the first 10 seconds: A helmet cam view of someone driving some old classic car nearly getting into a head collision. And now the first 10 seconds is some cut clip with random honking. I dont know at this point😂.

Yes they had cameras back then. Its just that you had to wind the film forward to make it a movie camera :)

6:12 not condoning the Territory driver's actions but this DC'er is driving like a temporary citizen. That was not a safe place to overtake in such a terrible vehicle. The flash of the lightbar/high beams was also not called for. What makes it a LOT worse, she has kids in the car. Bloody selfish.

doesn't broken lines mean to overtake safely, especially with what appears to be a fairly clear long stretch of road? If we're scoring the interaction Territory gets 2 points for speeding up while someone was trying to overtake and brake checking DC gets 1 point for flashing high beams

@@thealterator Overtaking safely, yeah perhaps if you were overtaking a vehicle doing 70kph. Overtaking at nearly 100kph in what looks like a shonky old 4WD is asking for trouble.

Broken line so legal to overtake. Was doing 95 when she pulled out, front car sped up, so she pulled back in behind, only to be brake checked. I reckon she's got a fair case to be upset. I didn't see anything unsafe happening there. She was clearly going to make the pass until old hero decided he was Gandalf.

Hey mate, I'm the dash-cammer! It wasn't a waste thankfully, the lady was very apologetic and admitted fault to the insurance and is paying for the damage. It was a genuine mistake on the other car's part- I was already fully in the roundabout, she didn't look and just kept going. I was lucky she was honest, could've gone much worse if she hadn't stopped.

I learnt a lot from just one crash, and from the sheer amount of knee-jerk comments I got in return, many others could learn a lot too. No one was hurt, cars can be fixed, water of a duck's back in my opinion.

They caved to pressure and removed it because a van with a business's signage was driving like a moron. Apparently the van was being driven without permission from the business. I.e., the business was not the one driving like a moron. A police investigation started and for some reason they took it down which is stupid because it's not illegal to film or upload videos in public.

I say, what an absolute scoundrel that pillock was. I nearly spilled my Grange. 😂

4:53 That section of NE Road was in last weeks to but from the other direction. It's a horrible part of the road and only made worse now they have build shops right there that people have to turn into. The problem is the side streets are just out of alignment enough to cause problems but close enough they have one break in the median strip. I have to turn into those shops because my pharmacy moved there and to do it safely you have to be in a position that blocks the other person turning off. Don't get me started on how the new shops have all their accessible parks in the far corner for some insane reason rather than next to the shops (particularly the pharmacist).

I am not one to wish misfortune upon anyone... But I'll assume that I wasn't alone, when I was hoping to see a vehicle of high structural integrity appear abruptly in the oncoming lane at 11:33?

To this day, it still amazes me seeing the number of people going the wrong way down a road and/or highway. And the alarming thing is.... It's happening more as the years go on, not less. But what is really worrying is the fact that even when people notify them with a beep, (when they are coming right at them) they keep going, either because of complete stupidity and/or because of pride, instead of doing the right thing and turning around like they should.

Fucking around in the company ute, with the logo, phone and email on the door 14.55 🤦‍♂️

By the time you realize you're about to crash its over mate. Hindsight is 20/20, maybe I should have been faster or more defensive. It took barely 3 seconds from her crossing the line to me hitting her, and in those 3 seconds I had a mental blank. No ones perfect, especially myself with barely 2 years of experience and not enough muscle memory.

Driving skills have deteriorated significantly over the years, I notice. The authorities need to revamp how drivers are learning, and tested over a period, rather than a one time test. Also, mandatory advanced driving course should be implemented. I will not be surprised, if road toll rises, if this is not fixed.

23:54, it is so easy to do that as the road markings are so hard to see, seeing it is probably the most driven over intersection in all of Adelaide. I have nearly done the same thing myself. Just a pity the Government won’t spend any of the speed camera revenue on lane markings.
