Dash 8 Q400 STRONG Crosswind Landing in Belfast City
Crosswind Landing in Belfast City in a Dash 8 Q400. There were strong Crosswinds on the day with Gusts of 40+ Knots. At 20 Feet Rad Alt, you can see the left wing drop due to the right wing being subject to one of those nasty gusts. The high wing design on the Dash 8 doesn't help this cause !

Nicely done! This is where the skills of a pilot come into there own and they earn their salary!
Landed at Exeter yesterday on Q400 Dash 8 from Salzburg, we had very strong crosswinds and tbh I was cacking my pants , the plane touched down nearly 45 deg to the runway but the quick actions of the pilots working the props pulled her straight into line instantly...cracking job chaps if you read this ever..top job
Great job guys, you must feel a huge sense of satisfaction when putting all of your hard work into practice.
I'm flying to BHD on the 7th April, with flybe, but on an E95. I hope this kind of gusty approach is typical at belfast, that looked fun!!! Hard to land, but fun.
Crab then cross controls, nice.
wow very hevy crosswinds , grate landing 5*
Not to be picky -but: Looking out the windscreen it was almost like seeing a flight where the CG was "way aft". Thirty years ago, when I was a student, I was flying (with an instructor) who had me load a lot of items in our plane. It had the "same look", out of the window; like it was "wallowing". Just a thought. I do realize that the wind was fairly high; I did see the pilot working the yoke quite vigoriously. Thanks for a nice video.
Thats was me Flying at a previous job. The camera was attached to the Jumpseat. That is a Quick hop on the 737 to Derry ! I thought our 35 min AMS was short !
Well done guys :D
That landing was pretty hairy!
looks to me like youre a really well trained and skilled pilot, ive had to fly with pilots that slam the plane down on the runway aircraft carrier style, or the kind of guys that like slamming on the brakes and hittin reverse thrust at the same time hard enough to where i end up slammin my head into the seatback
"Ladies and gentlemen....the hard landing was not the pilot's fault....it also was not the co-pilot's fault....what you felt was the ASPHALT" ......holy crap, did anyone go back on the tarmac and pick up the "spare parts"?????
The camera at the end failed!!
great video! strong winds?
crosswinds are easy to deal with, its tailwinds thatll have you on edge, with a good enough tailwind you could come in too fast and most likely risk an overshoot, but these planes dont need that much runway to stop. 3000 feet of pavement is all you need to stop. but yeah crosswinds can be a pain in the ass
I would have been straight to the toilet in the terminal to empty the newly arrived contents in the back of my undies...
That doesn't seem like a good place to keep your nav bag lol
Been on many flights like that flying into the city airport. So dodgy.
and i fly the plane :p
hahah.. bad landing dude.
bad
