Heliane's Testimony is one of my favorite opera moments, tbh. The whole last act, too. It's a glorious opera that doesn't get enough attention, really.

KORNGOLD was a genius orchestrator using the musical pen to create audio-visual masterpieces. Das Wunder is incredible. In my opinion, it is far more important than Tote Stadt. I had the John Mauceri -"Entartete Musik" set when it was new and took the opera world by storm in 1993. THIS is even better.

So nice to see a Korngold opera. I was introduced to Korngold with his film music as a kid and then fell in love with Die Tote Stadt in high school. This opera was difficult to find in the 80s. Wonderful seeing the score. Thanks!

Wonderful! So Straussian, but VERY Korngold. Thank you so much for this Scott animation! Hard work I’m sure

Strauss always much more focussed on character, vocal line and moments of touching vocal splendour. Korngold is about giving a ravishing totality, a glittering tapestry.
