The opening lines give me chills.
We did a lot of Doors covers back in the day and tried to keep it very close to original, holding Jim's delivery sacred. Daryl took a lot of liberties here and I came in very skeptical. However! My man brought a fresh edge to the music without taking ANYTHING away! Good freaking job Daryl! Good to see John and Robby again Love em!

The original is great but this version is in its own class. A new take and not a copy. As pointed out Daryl's voice is very soulful so I think Ray's keyboard playing complements it so beautifully. Takes us all on a trip!!! Thank you wondrous gentlemen for this gift. Ray has moved on to the other side since this was done. Sad to think music like this will never be made again with these folks. Time always moves on and I guess the lesson is to enjoy and savour all the moments along the way. It goes by way too quick. I remember when Riders On The Storm came out ....and then Jim was gone. That always intrigued me and made me think about life in a deeper way listening to those lyrics and I was only 11. In to this house we're born Into this world we're thrown like a dog without a bone ...an actor out on loan. Riders on The Storm.
Daryl cannot hide his soulful voice. Still, a great version.

Yep, I think that it would have been a bad choice for him to try to emulate Jim Morrison´s style. Daryl choose to do his own versión and that´s is cool.
