I'd be more interested in learning about when he was younger. Who taught him, his equipment availability, his inspirations, that sort of thing. I'd love to know the journey he has been on through his drumming life that has ultimately brought him to this point today of having the weirdest setup I have ever seen!
Shout out to the drum tech having to replicated placement of that kit every night.

it's no different than any other kit, angles are angles and hardware locks in

Dude, Its VERY different from every other kit. By the way, his arms look pretty uncomfortable half the time.

@@MCB-ls6nw Yes but not really different than setting-up any other kit when you're a tech. You don't have to play in it and you can bet all those angles are locked in. It's far less hardcore than a lot of metal kits actually

I give drum techs mad respect because not every stage / drum riser / floor etc. Is not the same. So for them to put up with the different variations and variables to get the drums exactly where the DIC (drummer in charge) wants them with zero complaints takes talent and is a job in itself. I've been drumming for 32 years and I still don't know where or how I want my kit set up. 😂
I saw jack in Nashville this April. That man is my guitar god, the reason I picked up a guitar 18 years ago. And I still found my eyes fixed on Daru. Dude was an animal. The whole band was flawless for hours.

@@Mike_Webb78 my guitar god. The guitarist I wanted to be. I'm not even sure what you compelled to type your comment. Jack may not the the most technical or progressive. But how many guitarists do you think inspired more kids to pick up an axe in the early 2000s than jack white? Seriously. If you're putting jack down to make yourself feel better as a guitar player, you should really evaluate why you're doing that. Otherwise, just keep your holier than thou guitar comments to yourself dude.

@@Mike_Webb78 I called him my guitar god. If there was no jack white, Alex Allen probably wouldn't be playing guitar. But you do you bro. Jerk off to your Steve Vai or whatever. Sell the records jack has sold. And then get back to me. Until then. Just keep your shit opinions to yourself, or AT LEAST out of my comment thread. I ain't tryna hear it dude.
Daru Jones earns all the praise he gets, every show he plays just amazing

Notice that you are alone in that way of thinking. He is NOT what you claim he is.
He ALWAYS has a unique set up and sound! It's like he needs to make it awkward to play to keep his interest? Hell I like my setup tight and don't like change! LOL I love DARU'S playing.. AMAZING
That’s got to be the most insane drum setup I’ve seen, it looks awesome
Daru is the most entertaining live drummer i've ever seen. He's an expert showman/entertainer like Jack.
Daru is top notch! And thank you for the DRUMMER rig rundown, MD!! Finally someone is doing one!!
daru is an inspiration. love his feel, so distinct, he's got style for days! maybe the most unique drum set up. obviously works like a charm for him so why judge? looks insane too, i love it. one of the few drummers that stands often while playing. impressive dude.

I concur. 🙆🏽♀️ I am a new fan! He's frickin amazing! I just watched his performance with Jack White in awe 😍 I knew there was something familiar about his sound and presentation when his bio mentioned Pete Rock. I am an old school fan so I said ah-ha! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This is definitely , completely , a unique drum set up. Not that I personally love all of the choices, but definitely cool and would make me hav to think very differently about my approach to playing, technique, and ideas while using a set up like this! I am a traditional grip dude myself, but even how he plays the hihat groove at the end with the traditional grip is really cool! Thanks!
Daru’s doubles are clean as a whistle
I've never pinpointed so many times I knew I'd been a 16th or 32nd off playing in my head listening to a drummer. One word MASTERFUL
a UNIQUE and super sounding setup
That main snare sounds SO GOOD
Daru is a guru of the drums!!!! His set up and sound is truly unique and inspiring too!!!
That was the FASTEST rundowns of one of the WEIRDEST kits, but oddly it all made sense. Keep doin' what you do Daru!
For the style hes bringing, that kit sounds great.
Love Daru saw him live at a drum clinic … man can groove tasteful and unique
Great guy with the greatest gig
got to see jack white live and at the end daru threw his drum stick to me and i caugh it !!!!
One of the weirdest setups I've ever seen but by God it looks nice. Great playing.
Daru, you're the best! Loved knowing a bit more about your gear
I like jack wait and is band You guys Rock I. Play Drums to 😎. 🥁I love the music to 🥁
This dude can have his snare on the moon and he can still figure out a way to play it better than all of us.
I LOVE JACK WHITE MUSIC AND I LIKE THE DRUMS THEY'RE COOL TO .. 🥁🥁🥁🥁 YOU GUYS ROCK.. I AM A Drum TO I LOVE PLAYING DRUMS TO ...🇺🇸🇬🇧🇮🇪
so funny, i was at this show and was curious about his gear for this tour but couldn't find info. a couple months later, here it is!
I love this guy. Such a creative player. 26" ride lol.
Thanks bro... good info!
Daru is the coolest
I just love you and your drumming. I love your style.
I dig it! 💯🥁
😎👍💗🇨🇭🔥🎼🔊)) PAISTE!!!
It makes sense that Jack whites drummer would play a kit that almost looks like Jack himself designed it
Clap
genial baterista y su set esta muy padre.
That…ride
DW the only serious choice
Daru: Mom… how do you spell ergonomic ?!?!?!?
unique
God I love unconventional kits sooo much
Looks like a setup for a used drumkit ad made by a nondrummer who found some kit left behind from the last houseowner😄 but I guess it works for Daru. Especially with all the drummers (like me) who's baffles by the thought of learning to navigate those angles🥴
What head injury leads to this setup? Genuinely asking.
Cooler than the other side of the pillow.
Strange set up 😮
If it looks like he can't reach it,he can't. If it looks like it'd be hard to play in the swing of things,it is
It looks like his kit fell over and he was just content to play it that way
did he use Ahead drumsticks ? Why wood drumsticks here ?

His wood drumsticks are bigger than his Ahead drumsticks. I guess he wants a bigger drumsound for Jack White.

Old jazz and bigband drummers had their snaredrum always tilted away from them. It's the easiest way to play the snare if you're playing with traditional grip. So it's actually quite traditional. But then again, off course he wants to gets noticed, and this is cool and unique. And his playing rhymes with that.
Aint ni way he broke 4 paiste 26' giant beats...no way. Das a lie
Most bizarre setup, can’t deal with some of those drum positions.
That simply cannot be comfortable to play
All show, no flow...the drizzling shits.
He looks incredibly uncomfortable and non-ergonomic in this set up. Really looks like he's struggling to play the basics and honestly not benefiting from what little boost in views he has from the unique visual.
"Style" over function. Can't stand attention-seeking idiocy.
@GPz84

And that's all it is. Let your playing get attention, not
That kit is awful. The setup doesn’t work at all and you can tell even he isn’t comfortably playing like that.
Probably the dumbest setup I've ever seen. I guess it don't matter when you're playing basic trite like Jack White...
He's popular but not talented. We're fair!
such a great groove. that kit looks so awkward to play.
Is he the guy that thnks he can play but in all honesty the ONLY thing he did different was his way of tilting his. drums. NOT A TRUE DRUMMER.
