The Dead Weather's Jack White on Drumming Technique (Episode 1 of 4)
Музыка
THE DEAD WEATHER FIRST OF FOUR TECHNIQUE AND INSTRUMENT DISCUSSION VIDEOS
DODGE AND BURN OUT NOW
The Dead Weather have released the first of four technique and instrument-based videos. This first episode features drummer Jack White demonstrating the details of his drum kit within the context of the band’s 2009 debut single, “Hang You From The Heavens.” Jack White designed the kit himself and the incredible team at Ludwig Drums attacked the build with vigor, creating a very unique trap kit. The White-directed video concludes with a live drumming performance of “Hang You From The Heavens," with an alternate drum beat to highlight the techniques discussed and showcase the band’s inner workings during live performances. The band and Third Man Records will release three more videos, each highlighting the member’s specific instruments and a different song from the band’s career, including tracks from their forthcoming album Dodge and Burn. Watch Jack’s video now on Modern Drummer: wp.me/p1bQfj-fKZ
Dodge and Burn - the band's third album and first full-length release in five years - is available now, with all digital pre-orders receiving
an instant grat download of "I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)."
The track is also on sale now at digital retailers worldwide.

One would hope that 2 maybe 3 or so hundred years from now Jack White will be looked upon in the same light as we currently hold Beethoven and Vivaldi and the likes in . Modern day musical genius who deserves legend status. NUFF SAID
Every time I watch an interview with Jack White I learn so much in just a few minutes
this is really cool. It's also interesting that he's got a whole different persona as a drummer than he did during his interviews, etc as Jack White, Band Leader

I work two blocks from Wonderland Music in Dearborn, MI. It's cool to hear a small business get a shoutout from Jack White
This video melts my brain into mush every time I see it, it’s hard for me to breathe without a reminder, this guys over here reinventing a drum kit like never before while it’s like his 5th best talent
For those that don't know, Jack White learnt drums first. Just so happened that guitar was the only instrument the other people didn't play when he wanted to get a band going.
There are not enough musicians like him, let me tell you. He is not like those dusdes that open their mouths to sing whatever song somebody gave to them; he is behind every note, every word, and he really knows how to do it right. He has grown as a musician since he was in The white stripes, he have learned, and now he apply those new things on every record he pulled out.
My brother is a HUGE fan ,once again I will follow in his footsteps. Mr. White well worth our attention !
Whoa! What an epic version of Hang You From The Heavens!! Excellent short film
Now that's a really interesting setup! Love when people are innovative.
“like you guys like to talk” inspiring performance.
Thank You Jack White!!! for being you!
Love the interviewer, so dynamic. Asking all the right questions. Edit- yo, that is not Ringo. Micky Dolenz.

Me and Jack are just hanging out sure he's in my computer but in my mind he's right here teaching me drums in my lounge room thanks Jack.
I love him.... really love him.
Jack will always be one of the greatest and most talented people I have had the pleasure of meeting. He truly is such a versatile artist and the level of success he has is due to his ability to adapt and overcome change and to learn quickly. He plays SO many instruments and is just an incredible talented man
An extremely dedicated and talented musician. He's up there with the best of the best!
I play guitar and bass, but if I was a drummer, that exactly, would be my dream Kit, for sure! And I say that as a really meticulous and perfectionist guy!
Respect! Jack is an incredible musician who can do anything he puts his mind to. His drumming concept is that of someone who has played for a long time. #jackwhite #drums #drumming #drummer
This was great! I could listen to him explain things all night.
I can't like this enough. Always watching drum tutorials, always wishing there was more videos/evidence of Jack drumming... this is just the best thing. He's my favorite
Guitar, piano, and drums plus great songwriting & stage performance...so many talents in one man!
I've been waiting for this video for 5 years! I was always curious about this set. Very interesting as a drummer and as a filmmaker.
Loving the explanation in more important nostalgia to me, black and white. Love so much Jack🎶😇💪
Dude dives deep. So glad I went to see all his bands so far. When I saw dead weather w/500 friends it was the heaviest thing I had ever seen that close up. Thanks 🙏 #StrongWorkYo
this is by far the best video Drumworkshop. Period
Haha...made myself practically the same kit about 15 years ago. With a floor tom cut in half,as a snare. And a deep marching drum, and a way oversized hi hat.All drums set flat and level.Old skool supacool...never goes out of style.Gene Krupa,John Bonham. And it makes your sound more antique,in some kinda magical way.Cool stuff..Great taste, dude!!!
The Bo Diddley square guitar in the background is sick!
love this guy, i remember reading an article of him describing his custom Gretsch-style guitar he made for when he was in the Racontuers. vivid creative discussion and engaging. awesome musicianship
As much as I deeply admire White for his genius as a musician and performer, I equally love his methodically-detailed aesthetic sense (so individuated for his various different band and solo projects) which was elaborated on in this video!

THIS IS AWESOME! I'm an amateur drummer finding her way in this fun game of music. I bought a kit last year (7/26/14 to be exact) and practiced EVERYDAY til this very day and aint NO WHERE NEAR DONE! I'm having a blast learning, but at the same time taking it very seriously! The GROOVE is the ALMIGHTY and must be respected. Jack you got FOHNNNKEEEEE(funky) on "I feel love (every million miles)!" I smelled you through the speakers, that was great!!! I don't know all of your music, I'm still going through your catalog and finding all this cool stuff and bumpin songs that came out years ago like it's brand new! Thanks for this, you all ROCK!!
Mr. White, I approve of your drumming. Well done my good sir!

Jack..you are, hands down one of the most inovative artists I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. drumming, guitar playing, singing...you got it all going on. your drumming, to me, surpasses Bonso's and Ringo's..maybe I'm wrong but maybe not..but man, I just gotta ask, what's up with the hair do's. I'm probably gonna smashed for saying it but I've been wondering for a long time. thanks for the many years of listening pleasure....I'm getting old but would love to see the Dead Weather live..just one time..
Holy shit I'm a drummer and I love this video. The way he has his drums set up is soo bad ass and original. I've never seen anything like how he has it set up, and I freaking love that drum head of the three brides- where can I get that?
I love you Jack White.

Hilarious cut to Mickey Dolenz when he's talking about Ringo!!
this is great
love hearing him talk about the drums! Say Paiste again!! what's the name of the ride?
Ce mec est vraiment épatant & redoutable!
How the hell did I never find out that he plays the fucking drums until now? I knew he played in all these other bands like the racounters and the dead weather but I just assumed he played guitar in all of them. He’s a really good drummer too. It’s like a whole new side of jack white to like.
How did it take me this long to see this.
That groove from Hang You from the Heavens sounded almost like something Ringo would do, but with more bombasticness. He was doing a version of the Ringo HiHat shuffle
