@@susanna3375 exactly. It’s more to do with how-PL ready your squad is. Fulham already had a 13-year stint in the PL and several times of going up and down. Bournemouth had a five-year stint before going down and up again. Forest spent good enough to stay up.

2022/23 - All the promoted clubs stayed up. 2023/24 - All the promoted clubs are relegated. Sounds like the gap between the Premier League and Championship is the same as ever, we've just had two seasons of extremes.

You can't have it both ways, "the gap's bigger now" but this is only like the second time in 30 years it's happened. The gap's not bigger, Sheff United screwed themselves, Kompany refused to change tactics, and Luton were always a struggle but ironically looked better than the other two

What were they meant to do. They'd just seen Forest spend to stay up and then given a points deduction. So it's either buy players and try to stay up with a deduction or try and play with your championship squad and go down. Nice setup.

To be fair Forest got the points deduction in the 2nd season, Luton would’ve too. Forest spent too much but probably survived because of it, and this season they got more money to spend and when handed a points deduction, they were able to stay up again and get even more money for next year. It’s a risky, bold strategy but it’s paid off so far for Forest

@@noahpagel2823forests entire squad had cost £12m at the point at which the transfer window opened the summer we were promoted. Burnely's was worth over £100m! So let's be clear that narrative that "forest spent too much" needs context. Moreover, we were only out of the limits for 2 months. So the competitive advantage gained is extremely limited: we played him for 3 premier League games in that time! Three. And only gained 3 points anyway in those games. So why deduct four points!

Forest fan here and whilst I don't want to see a 12 goal swing, I give a lot of respect to Luton Town. They've come up, made life hard for a lot of teams and did the best with what they had. They also improved their ground which is great for them. Respect.

2001-02, 2011-12, 2017-18 & 2022-23. All 3 stay up 1997-98, 2023-24. All 3 relegated. Why does this gap get regurgitated when it's only the 2nd time since the premier league was formed that ALL THREE teams have gone straight back down? Same with "second season syndrome". Only 7 teams have been relegated in their second season.

The narrative about Luton is completely wrong. The media and neutrals alike have been singing their praises, despite them being actually not very good at all. They have painted this picture of a miracle promotion, despite it not being that at all. sorry but Luton have been incredibly lucky this season with many decisions and frankly they are a poor side.

2 seasons ago Burnley dropped and there were teams in the Premier League where you could get away with things against, it hasn't been that way this season. Every single club has top players, Forest have Gibbs White, Hudson Odoi, Chris Wood - that's a proper forward line - and they will finish 4th bottom. It's going to be interesting to see how the promoted teams do next season

Teams can stay up if they do good business and stay doing the right things. Luton looked like they could stay up until they went on a horrific run. All 3 of these clubs have nobody to blame but themselves.

Out of the clubs who have come up i think Luton have looked most likely to stay up, but they seemed to take too long to adjust to the Premier league which meant they were playing catch up. I really thought Burnely would have done better because of how they smashed the Championship but maybe Kompany needed to change his style of play as the step up was too much for some of those players

I think, from NOW on, we have probably, seen the LAST, of ALL three promoted clubs from the Championship staying up !! I'm a Luton Season Ticket Holder, and, the club, has, just HAD to prioritise, the building of a NEW stadium at Power Court, (the PL money, means, they can build a 23.500 capacity stadium), over, perhaps spending, lets say, 100 million pound on NEW players, still NOT staying up, and, then, being relegated back to the Championship, with, a team, they could NOT afford, and, then, have to do a 'firesale' of players !!

As many have pointed out, all three promoted teams last season stayed up. I think the championship last season, as in the season that saw Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton promoted, was just the weakest for a long time. The standard at the top of the championship has generally been much higher this season. You also have to consider that Sheffield United arguably had a better squad in the championship than they had in the premier league. Ndiaye was their best player. Burnley also couldn't keep hold of their top scorer Nathan Tella, who has since gone onto win the Bundesliga and Harwood-Bellis, who was an important player for them. Luton were the only club where there was no debate whether or not they improved their squad.

You got to think it’s a complete lack of ambition from the 2 of the 3 teams that come up, they should of spent the money and gave it a complete go as you got Everton whom over the last few seasons have been floating around relegation and in big financial trouble also with them and Forest getting points deductions, there could of been 2 slots to stay up if they actually went for it and they didn’t capitalise on it. The premier league has never thrown a bone for the new teams in the relegation battle like it has this year and none of them took advantage of it. Luton especially shown real promise through out the season, £25 million spend though is shocking!!! When you get the big payment coming up. If they invested more they could have stayed up I think easily, especially as they had players like Barkley being a staring light for them. If they invested in more experienced premier league talent, maybe they could have survived.
