Here is the update from Dean Kirsten
Monday morning. The Schley Bros loaded up our transmission and headed to Rancho Transmissions in Fullerton. At 7:15am, they dropped off our parts, and even that early, Rancho had already begun preparing parts for our rebuild.
At 12:00, our transmission was done at Rancho!
By 2:20, the trans was back at the Schley Museum, where Ron Fleming and I, filled it with oil and fitted it back into Darrell’s car.
By 3:00, the engine went back in. Doug and Dee Berg showed up and Doug worked on the brakes, while I replaced the front shocks.
By 4:30 it was 100% back together and ready to run with a fresh gearbox.
Tuesday (on this video) we will test drive it on the street, then load it up for Wednesday’s delivery at the shipper.
Next stop Chimay, Belgium!

Great obsession of all who were involved. Can‘t wait to see the tires turning at EBI. See you ✌️🙋🏻♂️ By the way THE BEST CAL-LOOK content in motion on this superb hot vw‘s channel. Go on & on & on. Thanks & best greetings from D!
I had the honor to talk with Ron a few times (He spent so much time with me) about how I should go about building my motor. I was one of the last engines built before Ron Sold Fat Performance. I am the proud owner of a 2650cc 914 Porsche engine. Rons signature is on the shroud!!!!
I love that bug…she’s so beautiful!!!
That Workshop/garage...LOVE LOVE. the car is bad ass,..too of course. The turning radius is a small deal.. it's only going to go straight a 1/4 mile at a time. Doug Berg is Superman. Congratulations Dean,..well orchestrated! Herculean effort!!! ...Patrick
So enjoyable listening to VW Legends holding court! Good luck at EBI.
Me da gusto verlos tan felices. Saludos a todo el grupo
Can`t wait to see / meet you guys in Chimay again !
Old guy's Rule. White hair shows talent. Zenith Blue 67's are the best.
Lol, Ron cant shift^^
Means the stearing box needs to be spun half a turn and hooked up again then center the stearing wheel

Yes, we centered the pitman arm and readjusted the toe in.

I wish I was going to ebi
Does the muffler make it sound like it’s running on 3? Car looks great tho’!

Yes, that engine barely runs with that small bore muffler. It loads up and generally is not happy. But we have to use that muffler for shipping and loading the car in our neighborhoods.
Still hard to believe these race cars used a stock steering wheel.

These boys should have known better to do the front end alignment with the weight of the car on the wheels. Other than that good job getting it back together
