I recently watched a video on a channel called Uncle Tony's Garage where he went to a friend's shop where they were working on a fake 65 mustamg convertible. The shop that had "created" it had taken a '65 mustang coupe sliced off the roof put a soft top on it and sold it to some unsuspecting rube for "near six figures". At first they thought it was real until they realized it didn't have any of the chassis reinforcements that a convertible would have.

Being an entrepreneur specializing in the 1972-1993 Dodge pickup market is challenging, the trucks are so rare you cant even find them in junkyards, and if you do, chevy and ford out populates them 20 to 1 haha.

Great info on these trucks My Brother bought a 1969Chevelet C10 with 60thousand miles and all the paperwork and the History of the truck including when the truck was wrecked and all repairs and all matching numbers. He paid 24,000 for this gem no rust anywhere I have looked every place on this vehicle to see if the guy selling this truck was trying to pull a fast one but it is a original I did recommend that he gets the truck Z-barted to prevent it from rust scene he lives in Ohio . This truck green with a white top and no carpet just rubber floor mats. Very clean C10

Clones/Replicas are fine, just don't pass them off as "legit" It's all in the details. I'm slowly building a clone-ish version of a Dakota RT... because theres not many legit ones left that haven't been cut up. NOW, they didn't come as a Quadcab nor with the 4.7 SOHC like mine. Even though Dodge sold in small numbers a 2003 Quadcab with the 5.9 from the RT, but it didn't have the suspension. Even though some will buy the RT wheels and say, yeah its an RT, when the OEM parts/build sheet/vin tag say otherwise. You have to be wise in this game today.

6:49 That's the problem with replicas, some people that are likely to con you aren't always that observant I'd noticed the Torq Thrust wheels right away, as well as the missing cutouts and that the center console and the gauges were totally different from the original Copperhead Though I did notice the other stuff that was different until Stacy pointed them out

I just want to build my own car. I don't want a million dollar trailer queen. I want to build something from cheap, scrap parts and make something cool. Just gotta get enough money together and find an old car to get started with. And that bead roller would be great for custom made parts. For now I'm just keeping my 96 Buick Roadmaster sedan on the road till i can get something older and better

I would think your first clue would be price. If you find what’s probably a 60 to 80 thousand dollar vehicle for 30 to 40 I’d walk. We could assume that maybe a individual looking to scam you would try to ask somewhere close to what an original would cost but if it’s a rare or no reference to what it’s going for price point be careful.

I never did watch the video , because I couldn't find it after I restarted my phone .

Easier way to keep from getting scammed on buying a replica that's claimed to be original is just to not have enough money to ever buy a classic car in your entire life.

  • @beauxr.benoit1374

The replica doesn't look as good as the original. There are visual flaws on it that makes it look slightly older. You have to look hard at both of them to see them. Like the front bumper on the replica looks like a rechromed oxidized bumper and the original looks brand new. There is a slight visual problem with the Driver's side rear wheel well.

To me, that's not even a good replica. That's just my two cents. Obviously, I won't ever own Copperhead, but the only thing to me that's the match between the two is the paint. It's more of a tribute vs. a replica.
