When I randomly met Daron he gave me a pick that says SOAD on one side and DARON on the other with the oilers symbol around it. I still have it to this day. I will never get rid of it and Im a Sharks fan.

Daron has struggled with depression his entire life. He's a very sensitive person too. I wish more SOAD fans understood that instead of expecting him to be "crazy" like he is on stage.

I'm a long-time fan and have just read a lot of interviews where he's struggled with self-acceptance. He also used to go long periods of time without leaving his house and would only talk with his girlfriend and bandmates when he had to.

I've been a fan since the late '90s and he has talked repeatedly about not wanting to be around people and he'll hole up in his house for months at a time. Those are common depression symptoms. It's not a secret to hardcore SOAD fans that Daron has issues interacting with people and used to be very anti-social.

For all the people that say he seems sad. He probably is his most treasured thing in the world his band is disbanded from making new music and basically on a permanent hiatus obviously playing music made him able to act crazy and silly and get passed those walls.

He's SO cute

I've always kind of been able to tell a bit about people by hearing their voice, and I guess I was kind of right about Daron... I found SOAD bc of my mom playing their songs in the car all the time, and whenever I heard Daron sing I always thought he was kind of the kid of the band and seemed like he may be more shy in person, but maybe slightly hyper/chaotic on stage (This was just from listening to small clips of him singing, not knowing his name, not knowing what he looked like, and not watching interviews)

I saw SOAD in Edmonton before they broke up and Daron got punched in the balls when he stage dived. He crawled back onto the stage and said that wasn't fuckin cool. Then the crowd threw about 500 joints on the stage to say sorry for that ass that did that. Sorry Daron. Thanks for smiling and waving to us when we were smokin a joint behind the arena and saw you guys by the bus.

I get surprised too when I see someone defying my own predetermined stereotypes about them, it's natural. It's not that people think metalheads don't like sports as much as it was jocks and metalheads being on opposite ends of the spectrum for a very long time. Metal is accepted widely now, but until sometime in the 90's, metal was a counterculture, and jocks were a symbol of good clean values. We know it's untrue, but that was the basic view of it for a long time.

it's awesome and I think Daron makes it a Guarantee for SOAD to always stop in Edmonton! I seen them 2 x in 2005 at Rexall which one of them was the last show before there Hiatus and then the first show from there Hiatus in 2011 I think Daron genuinly loves Edmonton!!

Very cool. As a kid I was able to stand outside of the San Jose arena. I was a huge Sharks fan and even just being there felt great. My head would've probably exploded if I would've seen a live game.

People don’t understand that a musician is a character. This is not who he really is in real life. You can’t really behave like who you really are as a performer, because that would be considered boring. But at the end of the day he is just a normal human being like everyone else

2:03 Lol I had a very similar thing happen where I bought two VERY old and awesome Portland Trail Blazers posters and when they showed up they were in a tiny envelope. They were 2''x5''. Then I went back to the item description on ebay and in extremely tiny print at the bottom it said the size. Moral of the story, read your item descriptions!

I was present on his 27th birthday and from my teenage perspective he looked like an adult but in retrospect probably could have passed for 17. 😂 He was really bashful and hid behind a stack of speakers while the crowd sang happy birthday to him. 🥺

you don’t have to read a depression diagnosis to see the demon, you can see it directly looking at the person’s behavior and, in this case, the lyrics. Acting like that on stage is somehow expression of a histrionic personality that, we know, origins from a self acceptance problem. I don’t see as weird the difference between his behavior on stage and during interviews or private contexts, I think it’s a proof of his issues. Also “lonely day” to me is evidently about thinking of committing suicide, but maybe I’m the one thinking that. You didn’t ask for this comment, I know, but I felt like confronting with people about it 😁

He played there three times. I know because I was at all of them. Picking Edmonton as the first show after hiatus was a special touch.

I lived in Edmonton for a short time when I was 9. The year they lost to the islanders, before they started the dynasty. We went to the homecoming parade. My uncle did Gretzky's dry cleaning so I have a nice big Gretzky autograph. Im a fan of SOAD so this was cool to see his collection. I had the same mini oiler stick.
