Fret was way out of line. Even having the gull to push his politics on the other guys is f’ed up! Felder saying “I guess” is like him saying, “I don’t know why you’re here and thanking me. I have nothing to do with it?” Rock n’ roll and politics shouldn’t mix ever!

I was a year out of highschool when this interview happened, in my own band and loving everything about the microclimate music scene I was in. Toxicity made me look twice (more than twice 😉) at what was going on in mainstream heavy music. It changed so much about how I saw things. Today, I revisit these thoughts because I now have grown sons who have Toxicity, every track, on repreat in every room of the house, for like 4 months straight lol. Breaking only now and then for some Power Wolf here and there lol. And when they're not doing that, they're playing the songs on their instruments, shit - they even play them on my instruments; leaving guitars out of cases in an old house with no humidity control (damn teenagers...😂). Its crazy to think about time this way. How cyclical some things are. This album seems to resonate with so many people across all the following generations. Time is an interesting concept to contemplate. Sad though that a lot of their songs are still so relevant in the world.

Saw the Eagles live twice and loved them, although I don't know much about their history. Glen was my favorite, purely because of his vocals. I wasn't political in those days. Nobody was. The country has changed.

A band is made up of individual people. Some of the time they get on and some of the time they don't. Most bands split for 'artistic' differences. Some are just assholes to each other. It amazes me how moody and self important musical artists get when they become 'legends'. Just enjoy the band for their music and f@ck the politics.
