Disney has a hit with DuckTales and they've already established Darkwing Duck. It would be a mistake, IMO, for them to go in a different direction with a different group of people. Unless of course they make both and put them on different platforms for different audiences or something like that. I just really like what they've done with DuckTales and think they should focus on developing that particular Disney Afternoon Universe.

Spielberg is a very versatile filmmaker. Even these three films are very different. ET is a family film about friendship and abandonment, Jurassic Park is a survival film with a good dose of awe and wonder in there that makes it different from the horror that was Jaws, and Schindler's List is an historical drama. Then are adventure films like Indiana Jones and other more child-friendly movies like Hook. Producing cartoons in the vein of the ones he grew up with - the Looney Tunes - is not that out of left-field, especially if you consider that Indiana Jones was based on the action adventure serials he and George Lucas grew up with. Seth Rogan doing an adaptation of a kids cartoon when he otherwise only does adult work? That is out of left-field.

I'm glad it's just a rumor. The idea of Seth Rogan being involved almost made me want to give up on life in general

I'm not going to trust this until more information's given, so let me just say it'd be criminal to not have Frank and the DT17 crew on this reboot

I would be really interested in this reboot if Frank Angones,Matt Youngberg,and the DT2017 cast and crew were involved. Seth Rogen working on it is just a big red flag. We got to let Disney know that we want a DWD reboot that would be taken care of with dignity like Frank and Matt

I agree but the reboots that disney has done so far look like crap, the animation is horribly done especially with how the original shows looked.

Bear in mind this is not technically the first time DuckTales and Darkwing Duck have shared a universe, there were comics a while ago that were pretty cool.

@@calebray1834 And Scrooge Mcduck in the comic was asked to take over Quackerbots after DW saved the day. He made Launchpad Ceo of Quackerbots and the robots no longer did cop work.

This feels like the Netflix She-Ra/He-Man situation, where they had a hit with a new version of one (Ducktales and She-Ra) so they planned to greenlight a new version of a show heavily connected to it that's unrelated to the new version. What made me think this is when you said that the idea for the DW reboot will be connected to the original series and the new Masters of the Universe is supposedly a finale to the original He-Man with no connection to She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. Plus both are head up by Hollywood talent typically known for more adult material (Kevin Smith and his crew for He-Man and Seth Rogan and his for Darkwing).

i remember i saw these rumors in detention yesterday instead of doing my classwork that is overdue

Unless they get frank I'm not interested, sorry. Taking an adult show writer(especially the one behind sausage party where the animators were treated like trash) and putting him in a kids show is a HELL NO for me.

I'm really wondering that IF this does happen, would they have the same voice actors for Drake, Gos and Launchpad? I feel like it wouldn't feel the same for them not to have Beck Bennett, Chris Diamantopoulous or Stephanie Beatriz, especially Beck Bennett. I think having different voice actors from Ducktales could really draw people away.

Same. I'm willing to give this a chance with other writers, but the voice acting is what is selling this for me. They have dome such a phenomenal job with DW now in the new DuckTales, that I hope they stick to that formula, because honestly, it's what works best, in my opinion.

Theoretically, this kind of thing might not be a series in the end, doing a special or miniseries could be interesting. Hell, if they could get them, going for a full on multicrossover event could be fun for bringing back and cameoing a lot of the older disney characters into a movie with both Ducktails, Darkwing, Rescue Rangers, and all of the others showing up for something.

I would prefer a Darkwing Duck series that builds off what’s been established in the new Duck Tales. It just feels like that’s what the writers were opening up the opportunity for the entire time. Looking forward to it either way!

I first heard about this news from Dave From Down Under, and even then he also said it's too early to tell if this DWD reboot is real. If Seth Rogan's crew were truly running this project (key word being if), I'd try to be cautiously optimistic just to see if they'll come up with something interesting. Otherwise, I'd much rather have Frank Angones, Matt Youngberg and the rest of the "Ducktales 2017" crew continue their version of Darkwing Duck, since they did a fantastic job reviving the characters and setting up a potential new show with them.

I am pretty sure the Darkwing Duck episode Let's Get Dangerous got people talking for Darkwing to come back specifically. As someone whom saw the original Darkwing on Disney back in the 90's, I just hope they Disney Plus gets it completely right for Darkwing Duck. Personally, I would like to see them continue where the original series left Darkwing Duck off.

If we get a darkwing duck that is not the duck tales 2017 I'm going to be upset. But I would still watch it

Get frank and the ducktales crew to work on this. They know this material better than anyone.

The only reboot show I'd want is Rescue Rangers because it can have good variety. It's like Ducktales, but in the small version of a world. The other great old shows were too narrow to have a reason to bring back. Like Gummi, Talespin, Gargoyles, etc.

Darkwing Duck reboot the upcoming Disney + cartoon tv series should be taking after the event of "Let's Get Dangerous", a crossover episode of Ducktales 2017 reboot when Drake Mallard becomes a real superhero, Darkwing Duck and protector of St. Canard city for the first place and first time of his life as a crime fighter.

Ironically, the satirical thing that happened to the Darkwing Duck movie in Ducktales, is exactly what's happening within Disney

Now if only they'd bring back Rescue Rangers and Tailspin.

The idea that it might not be a continuation of the Ducktales 2017 version seems really weird. Now that there effectively is a new DW that people seem to like, that seems like asking for fan backlash. Then again, I thought it was obvious that the buzz over those Teen Titans shorts showed people were crying out for Teen Titans Season 6. Somehow WB and DC decided that people were looking for Teen Titans Go instead, and that's made a bajillion dollars, so what do I know? (I'm not a fan personally, but you can't question the success.)

And omg this is so exciting I'm have mixed feelings

@@jjhggdcqz I don’t know about getting canceled as much as it will just stop because Disney has a pretty strict episode run count when it comes to their series. And I’m kind a hoping it’s true except the Seth Rogen thing because Jim Cummings was even tweeting about it

Was hoping for a justice ducks show

The best case scenario is that they would contact the DT17 showrunners and writers to help shape the show. At the very least keep that great Negaduck concept and that story that they wanted to tell. IF we can get a show that can somehow blends the DT17 concept and voice actors with a more wacky, classic style Darkwing Duck, I'd be pretty happy about it. If it's its own thing and a direct reboot of the original series, I won't mind, but I'd also hope we at least get a DT season 4 so they can tell all the stories they wanted. Still, I'm not going to discount anything. Producers sometimes have a hand in the show, sometimes they don't. Maybe they'll hire the same showrunners and just cut them the check. Anyway, I see this several years down the road in any case. Unless they were doing a direct DT17 continuation, in which case it'll probably be a little shorter than that. When was the Animaniacs reboot first announced? Like 2016? 2017? And there was radio silence until 2019. That's usually how these things happen. I've seen movies be announced 10 years before they got released in cases.

I can also imagine that 'Ducktales' must keep the current team fairly busy, so much so that they don't have the time and energy to devote to a proper Darkwing spinoff. I'm no big Seth Rogen fan, but who knows? He could be just as dedicated/obsessive a Darkwing fan as we are, LOL. At this point, I assume nothing.

I'm not interested in any Darkwing reboot that isn't lead by the current Ducktales team.

Yes same here, they're the ones who brought him back in the first place, and have been building him up for 3 seasons. They know their version of the character well by now, and they're the ones who deserve to continue expanding him as a result. It's much more likely we'd get a direct continuation of the events established in DT17 if the same crew works on a DW reboot.

Eh... I _might_ be okay with a one-off DCAU style Darkwing movie but frankly if it's not the DuckTales crew handling it as a series I'd rather have nothing.

I think i really prefer the version that The DuckTales crew has created, just because they made me fall in love with DW all over again, from a kid loving it, and growing up as an adult who still loves it just as much, if not more. They have been building up to this moment, and I would be sad to see it end here. But I do agree, that I'm willing to see where this "new" version will lead us. And if I don't like it, I can go back rewatch the original. It has a special place in my heart, but I can't be bitter about, if I don't appreciate it, only because there will be someone out there that will, and that's okay too. The difference between adult entertainment and teenage entertainment is amount of cussing and graphic sex, so it's really not that hard to transition between R and PG-13. They already have Ducktales being Ducktales, so there's no need to double dip, unless the three season curse is coming down on us. A Darkwing adaptation that's aimed more at, like, say the DC animated movies target demo seems about right. Batman vs The Ninja Turtles with a little less blood, kinda of thing? The original DW show was also aimed at an older demo than the Ducktales, so it's not even out of character. And we're lacking at the moment that kind of Daria/Ren and Stimpy/Animaniacs/Samurai Jack/Young Justice kind of family appropriate, teenage-edgy (as opposed to man-child edgy) niche. (Not that it's not there, it is. Just that we're nowhere near market saturation, there's tonnes of space in the culture for that kind of show right now.) So, like, I kinda get your skepticism about the news on a practical level, but I'm not sure I agree with all your reasoning. I actually think that kind of production staffing could be really perfect for DW.

I dont know if other people think like this but a rebooted adult darkwing duck could be really fun, the show shouldnt stray away from its roots too much but if they were to do so giving it an adult rating would give the writers alot more freedom so if done right I would be up for an adult darkwing duck. (I know this isnt really what the video is about but from that studios line up it wouldnt be that weird to see it imo)

I feel that Disney, if they are smart about it, will wait until the TMNT project actually comes out before hiring Seth Rogen production company Then they will have an actual idea of what they are working with both creatively and, more importantly for them, finacially

I literally couldn't tell the difference. I thought it WAS Dan at first until I looked in the credits. So yeah, I disagree with you about it being "Awful".

The new Justice Ducks should contain Darkwing Duck (obviously) Gizmo Duck (Gadgets and weaponry) Lena De Spell (Shadow and Sorceress) Tubio aka B.O.Y.D (robot jet feet laser eyes, strength and the ability to communicate machines) Morgana (Still holding out hope for her)

Really want this reboot to take place after Ducktales 2017. Don’t want the one we saw be wasted.

Of course I'd be willing to give any Darkwing Duck reboot a chance, but I'd be disappointed if they didn't use the DT17 versions of the characters. I've really come to love those guys and I want to see their story continue. Here's hoping that the DT17 crew will be involved in the project if it happens.

Ik, I'd still give it a chance but I love DuckTales 2017 and wanna see more of it and I know other people do too. They can even conclude the NegaDuck arch that was teased but never got closure, which is my only real problem with the reboot as a whole.

I'm a huge Scooby Doo fan. I bring this up because throughout the years, Scooby Doo has been a lot of things. A serious story driven series, a wacky three shorts cartoon, a sarcastic, in your face cartoon, a throw back where the show is just in the modern day, a silly story driven show, a series of crossovers... The point is, though, to get to the topic at hand, is that I am always open to giving reboots a chance. Granted, if there is a Darkwing Duck reboot, I REALLY want to see the Ducktales versions of these characters and see where their story is taken. I mean, you already have established the world and setting for Darkwing, Gosalyn, and Launchpad. And since dropping in on them in Ducktales every now and then would be nice, and while I won't discredit a different creative team's take on the series, the world I am invested in has already been established, so I really hope Frank Angones and Matt Youngberg are the ones at the helm of a prospective Darkwing Duck reboot.

Actually, yes disney just did work on the DW reboot.

It’s a mixed bag for me. I would love a new Darkwing show, but I adore the DT17 show, and I would never hurry it off the air in order to get a new show. At the same time, I think the best people to be writing a new Darkwing show are people who are currently making DT17, and I wouldn’t want them to be spread too thin.

There is still hope that there will come a writer from DT 17 to do a reboot cause they are still searching for him/her,so there is still little hope in me.I kinda have doubt the this studio working on disney project cause their work is usually concentrated on adults.

If this does happen, I cant wait for the fearsome five.

So if there is to be a Darkwing tv show I’d like for a few weeks prior to the shows launch for there to be an episode of Ducktales where launchpad gets split in two like regular launchpad and the launchpad in double o duck realising he can now live in saint canard and duckberg

After revisiting this news in 2023 and knowing that this reboot never made it to the light of day I honestly believe that this reboot was at one point was in talks before the Ducktales reboot ended and I think after Disney got the numbers back from the finale they decided to not go farther with the darkwing reboot

The fact that Let's Get Dangerous got to be 44 minutes and was posted online in full (just like the pilot) makes me think it was definitely a test pilot for a possible Darkwing show. Also the fact that Negaduck got introduced in that one episode only to never show up again.

It's now creators of ducktales confirmed it so yea

I agree that this shouldn't be taken seriously at this time. Both because things get cancelled in animation all the time or things never go into full production (remember the 90's Nicktoon crossover movie everyone reported on a few years back) and because I am also just really hoping this doesn't come to fruition. Seth Rogan and his friends should not be allowed within 30 feet of a show about two dads raising their adopted daughter while fighting crime which (whether it is connected to Ducktales or not) is heavily tied to a show that has given us so much representation (especially in the neurodivergent department).

I’m sure they would find some way to bring back the villains from the OG show. DuckTales season 3 could even end with NegaDuck stealing the plans to the Ramrod so that he can build his own.

There's also going to be a Darkwing Duck series debuting in the summer on Disney XD.

I know this is just a theory, but like the ducktales pilot it first aired on KZread? Before officially doing the show- the darkwing duck episode also aired on KZread implying that this was going to be the reboot of the darkwing duck series, especially after launchpad commenting that he would drive down there at nights- so I’m guessing the show would have launchpad on there and take place at nights while being with the mcduck family during the day- but due to low views on the KZread channel and ducktales being canceled I guess not maybe? It possible Disney was going to hand over the show over to the other people instead of the ducktales team which is why they made that joke on ducktales about darkwing being grim and gritty or they were always aware of this and were either being salt or having a bit of fun- It’s also possible that their going to be sucked into an alternative dimension the darkwing duck trio since gosayln father is trapped there. (I mean animatics right even they referenced them in their new reboot) Who knows? The original ducktale team may not be on there due to a whole bunch of reasons- wanting new projects, or because of the lgbt content they’ve retweeted or head canoned and we know how Ricky rat feels about that- or maybe Disney wants a *shudders* teen Titans go, or powderpuff girls type of reboot. Hey even if it’s different maybe it will be good and treated with respect it deserves and sort of like handing of the torch to someone else- who knows how this go? I mean 2020 hasn’t been a great year but considering this is coming of from a good ducktales reboot maybe it will work-
