What do you think of this format? It is looser but since it is informal we go to greater depth than a structured guide.

This format is great!
For a Vermintide vet, this is very helpful. I have trouble watching normal class guides, because they're usually 30 minutes of "This is how you do your special, and this is my build" and the rest is mainly fluff. This explains how each player synergizes with the team. Now if we could just get all the new Ogryn players to watch it... :D
Reddit said that holding the dash key causes the dash to lock on to an enemy, which stops you from overshooting. Zealot content is great. It's hard to pick a favorite among the four classes, but zealot would usually be my go-to, flavor-wise
HE RETURNS! Glad to see some new content from you. Loving the guides and this is a great format.
My observations for the ranged enemy AI, is getting up close, they’re instructed to attempt to disengage and find cover, and will take 3-4 steps to do so. But if they’re still within some 10-15 feet of the player, then they take a second to switch to melee mode, and then run at you. And if they run at you, they never disengage to switch back to ranged mode. So it’s a great way to waste some of the enemy’s time as they scramble. And yeah, seems like they spawn in little patrol groups
6:45 - That (ranged enemies engage in melee when closed in) is actually exclusively mentioned/explained in the tutorial training of the game. As well as many more mechanics. I find the tutorial very important even for veteran players.
Yup, i love this format, also i play overwatch so the dive explaination is quite easy to understand for me, keep this up!
Really cool to see what coordinated teamplay and decision making can look like at a high level. In the future it would be really cool to see some videos on pub decisions also. I often find myself in a situation, where I know what would be the "correct" move but because my team isn't on the same page, it turns into a wrong move and then it turns into a catch 20 situation.

Play the game you are in, not the one you want to be in. Wise pub adage. Pick 1 player who impressed you early in the run and make the move that enables and synergizes with them. Psyker carrying? Peel. Ogryn going hard? Duo dive.
I feel I reached a lot of the same conclusions in my play time as zealot. Tie up the ranged, take down elites, keep an eye on your backline. Excellent video!
Fun Fact: The tactic and decision making here, is the same that is used in the lore for why Meele is so common in 40k. Ranged Weapons are so deadly that Meele is just safer for many troops.

Also the fact that many enemies the Imperium and other factions face are so numerous and prevalent in melee that you can't shoot them all down before they reach you--so you had better be prepared for melee, because you aren't going to have a choice in the matter.
With all these "beginner's guides" out there, I haven't really been able to get the sense of what Zealot's role is in a team comp. Because they're kind of unspecialized. I got the sense of an off-tank, but it wasn't too clear. This video did a lot to help me understand what Zealot's role really is, and how their generalized kit makes them very flexible within that role.

Your DarkTide videos have been outstanding. I really liked this format. I am thankful you guys are sharing your experience with us.
The thought process examination here is amazing. Really insightful and helpful stuff. Lot of it confirming my feeling about when to push forward, or flank. And a lot that makes 100% sense, but didn't even consider because I was stuck in the V2 thought process.
very informative, keep the good stuff rolling!
really enjoyed this, breaking down a playthrough to simple decisions and observations can help newbies understand the game as well as improve veterans with their current gameplay. Thank you!
Great video, i might like this more than solo videos, really enjoy the discussions you guys talk about. Would love to hear about the veteran & Ogryn players too.
The commentary made the run much more fun to watch. Although I wish I could have heard some of the game audio. Great vid!
High quality content! Your co-analyst here was very insightful and has a great voice

😊 Thanks!
Ayo killing it with these releases!
as someone who knows a person that will play the Psycher and a Ogry and who will play Zealot alot, this did help me alot! thank you two for taking the time!
Just started playing this on my Xbox, really enjoyed the explanation of the zealot strategy 🎉
Great breakdown of gameplay not sure why I did not find it earlier.
An excellent scene-to-scene analysis
If I’m good enough can I play with you guys lol Vermintide or Darktide. I say this bc this is the most in depth analysis of gameplay I’ve ever seen and totally how I view and think about the game. Love it! Thanks guys. Looking forward to more content
I am happy that in the end you will choose to play Darktide with some amount of seriousness. The lack of mods will not divide the player base, but there is certainly a risk of the game not having the longevity of Vermintide.
This was fun and learning
Used to play with Combine back in Vt2. Very knowledgeable player
Thanks for the video! I feel like I'm finally ready for Overwatch
Would love to see one of these for Ogryn as well
I found the structured format more useful for the psyker since I don't play ranged focus so much. I found the looser format more useful for zealot since I tend to main front-line...So both are great?
I know people love the eviscerator, but the axes and thunderhammer are :chef kiss: i want to do my best 2H Hammer ironbreaker impression
Very appreciated, i'd be curious about you guys' opinions on the Zealot's passive damage bonus on missing health, of all the things it seems underwhelming as in it barely comes into play The way i see it, i'd rather Fatshark came up with something more consistent / permanent

I think its more out of place than it was in Vermintide 2 because you had temporary hp, the toughness mechanic is good for Darktide but isn't an exact replica of temp. hp in Vermintide and as such, the dmg scaling is much harder to intentionally utilize. I agree there is 100% room for improvement.
Just wondering what everyone has their keybinds set to in this game I'd think I'd like to to try space on dodges starting this game. Used to have it on shift but with sprinting now in the game now feels odd to rebind the universal sprint button to anything else.
j_sat, do you have an opinion on ideal character height for a Zealot?
What height do you guys make each class in char customization?
Would love to see this from veteran perspective!
That dodge distance is HUGE! Did dodge get nerfed or does that axe just have a crazy high dodge stat?
Is dodge an invulnerability frames mechanic in Darktide, or is it about proximity and hotboxes?
Tying up groups of ranged squads with melee sounds so much like dow1. I love it
Since there are three heals at a heal station with four people, perhaps it gives one less heal than there are players. If that's true, I wonder how it's programmed to deal with only one player up.
Was that a bug at 8:30? Ogryn’s passive to ignore damage when doing actions not going off?

I think he sprinted there there his stamina mightve been empty. Thus giving him no stam to block
Oh one thing, we cannot hear the in game audio, if you could put that into the video, but kinda low volume, we could understand better what's happening at times, such as wave music, boss music, events etc.

The issue here is the audio under is also us talking so it was a bit scuffed with both tracks.
I know you touched on it here a little, I am really unsure as to which weapon I preferred for zealot during the BETA, axe was great for armour but I found it really boring where as the hammer I was using was great fun, helped control the trash and keep me on frontline more (Mainly only needed when we ran with no Ogryn) and did stupid dmg to plague's, I think with my zealot hp buff I got it to 4 or 5 hits on t4 to kill plague Ogryn with all buffs I could manage. The hammer just felt lack luster against in between units that were not trash or plagues. Also I was saving my Zealot nades a lot of the time for the revives as I played a lot in pubs because I'm a lonely gamer, so having the chance to guarantee a rez was huge! (Not unlike nading a friends corpse in Verm to clear ads) but I feel like I need more time to explore the full use and what exactly can and can't be stunned with the nades. I'm really interested to see what other weapons come out for zealot on release and fingers crossed can find some people to push T5 with after the 17th of November. Great to see you back to (Alien) rat slapping videos, we have all missed you!

The hammer feels more fun for sure, especially when you can CHUNK a plague ogryn so much. However, if you have another competent Frontliner (especially an ogryn) then hordes are usually not the main issue. I didn't do much playing with pubs as we had a fairly consistent premade, and having the extra armored/elite dps felt way more useful there imo. With the hammer being pretty bad at killing elites under pressure, it felt pretty bad for me on difficulty 5.

with headshots, the hammer should kill even the melee traitor guardsmen, but that charged heavy swing is an elite killer, i've intercepted a mutant everytime with it, even if im the target of their charge, still working on getting the timing for a pox hound. I've been able to stun maulers with zealot's flashbang but i'm not sure about the armored ogryn, shield ogryn or ogryn heavy gunner.
i was using the axe wiith zealot as well. i didn't really understand the hype around ppl going for the sword on diff 4 and 5. you have more cleave, but zealot is supposed to be the melee dps, so you want to target elites. why pick zealot and then use the sword that specializes mostly in horde clear? the sword has shit ap too
Do one with that big walking meme Crak.
Axe's push attack seems to have decent cleave while is infinitely spammable while you don't get hit, so it's not that scary when used against trash(or just anything your push can stagger) either. 4:29 - correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a ladder on the right side of screen? This wasn't really a drop down. 7:10 - very tabletop wh40k, generally ranged weapons are not usable if enemy is within 1inch.(in melee).
@ashenwoodaxe1055

The ladder is broken and it is a one way drop down/ Point of No Return
How come he doesn't take advantage of the zealots low health perks? Like how VT2 zealot would become more powerful with lower health. I know this zealot has some boosts like that, but he doesn't some to be playing that way.
@GuerillaBunny
Жыл бұрын
Probably because damage "leaks" into actual health, since Toughness isn't a 100% buffer like temp health is. Also, as you can see in the vid, it's easy to lose all of your Toughness to a single hit. In short, low health is much riskier than it is in VT.
Constructive dialogue is better, even if it less structured. Comparing 'tide tactics to OW tactics is understandable, but i would love if you've explained what exactly those tactics are. You kinda did this for "Dive", but skimmed over the "Poke". Viewers that are not familiar with OW might get lost. Maybe a bit more highlighting the importance of team-communitcation/team-trust so that newcomers got that idea inside their head, but otherwise i think this kind of video is good for both, veteran and recruits.

Poking is basically long range fighting, including techniques of avoiding the enemy with safe positioning and defensive frontline. In Darktide when you stop moving forward, and instead take cover to trade shots, that's pretty much poking. What the backliners are usually expected to do. The opposite being aggressive movement, charging at the enemy, diving. A zealot or ogryn doesn't want to poke because they are just worse at it than the others. Although I think the suppression mechanic is worth looking more into. Maybe these frontliners can use their guns in a way that's especially effective for suppression, rather than killing power. In a way they would be ranged tanking. So the backline can deal max dps without worrying about a thing, or "freecasting".
Decent common sense video for the lemmings who wipe teams.
cursor on screen. unwatchable.
