I see it simply as symbolism for the lack of willpower or any other emotion left in the world after the destruction caused by darksied and his paradooms. That once the green lantern core was destroyed and john was reduced to nothing but ashes, exposed to a deposit of the earth's magma, it spelled the end of all of the green lantern corp with many of its most prominent members either reduced to nothing by the omega beams, given a gruesome death or is killed instantly by a snap of the neck. Hal had it worst being torn apart by the paradooms, and he was just one of the many casualties in the failed attack on apokolips. The ring didn't fly off to find someone to inherit the power of the green lanterns because there wasn't anyone left with any semblance of willpower, and if there was, they will be immediately be killed if they try to delay the inevitable.

@@blitz4779 Yes technically if you have a will you can still fight, may throw a few punches, but without the power battery, there is nothing to power the rings, and the rings can also run out of batteries too, I don't think green lanterns have unlimited power depending on their will.

Yeah, this is rather unusual for DC. Unless we're in a crisis, typically DC just puts aside a universe and starts a new one when things get too messy (look at what they're doing with their movies). Probably because the main GL battery was destroyed so there was no main source to give it power to fly off,therefore there’d be no reason to anyway. Even if it has just enough power to do that,there’d be no way to charge it. Like bringing a dead vehicle battery to a auto shop but they don’t have jumper cables or anything

For context: Earlier in the movie it was mentioned that the Green Lanterns were fighting Darkseid's forces for at least 2 years straight, diverting a lot of his troops to that front. When Darkseid was informed that the Lanterns were making their last stand, Darkseid decided to see their fall personally. Between that moment and this scene, several hours if not one or two days happened. This are the last Lanterns, fighting a loosing battle in a lost war, fighting without pause just to slow Darkseid down. Their most likely exhausted and desperate. They would be lucky if they even had the concentration left to form any working construct. let alone anything that could stopp Darkseid. Yes, it is dissapointing that we didn't see anything better from the Lanterns but the point of the movie to show what it looks like if Darkseid is winning so we only got to see the end of it.

The corp is far bigger than the paradoom army, is able to emit any type of radiation which includes kryptonite, and for another thing they actually have a green lantern that can one shot the hordes of paradoom ez. The living planet mogo. And hell darkseid wasn't ballsy enough to square up against the guardians without a guarantee since high father would be forced to get involved if he did.

It likely just saves on animation cost. Lasers are easy to make, fancy constructs take time and resources, a bit much for a short scene that's just "Green Lanterns lose".

The plot in the movie is that the green lanterns had been fight darkseid for over 2 years until he personally came to see to their deaths. They had been fighting nonstop for probably a while and only what l, 3 were left with near drained rings, all we saw was the final moments of them not the all out brawl between darkseid and mabye a few thousand lanterns

@@CommanderBlackout31yes. As far as I know Darkseid has a true form that resides in the 4th dimension, and every version of Darkseid we saw on TV, are avatars of his true form. I believe that’s why some versions of Darkseid get folded by superman, and other versions like this Darkseid basically shit on every hero he encountered. True form Darkseid is supposed to be so strong that his mere presence in the regular universe would destroy everything. True form Darkseid also is ‘as far as I know’ “theoretical.” I don’t really know how to elaborate on that part, you would have to look it up. So you have the explanation that I said, or you can blame the writing.

Bruh, they just charge at him with beam attacks instead of using constructs? These have got to be the dumbest Lanterns I've ever seen. Hell, they even have Kilowog just jump out and try and tackle him. Man, basically any time GLs appear outside the comics they're just there to serve as fodder to some powerful foe, even if they could've reasonably beaten their enemy. Speedsters get downplayed pretty regularly too, but never as bad as this.

@@Director_Oompaloompa It's quite sad really, GL is one of my favorite heroes and I still consider Geoff Johns' run to be some of the best comic storytelling ever, so it's a shame to see the character left in the dust in most major DC projects, in all his interpretations. I've found John gets a little more love because of his role in the DCAU but for the most part, outside the various animated movies, Hal and the other Lanterns are left in the dust.

That death broke me the hardest... Even the ones who I've seen as a kid. This movie broke me out of the delusional bungleoo that made me think heroes always win but I learned the hard way and cried about several days before my dad had to console me and explain to me that the real world treats good guys like this... Gut wrenching and understood as I grew up thinking being kind and caring can be a way to die in this world. You know what that is like? Crying like I had lost someone and depressed for a long time before I had to tell myself that this movie wasn't real and powers aren't real and eventually I grew out of the depression of reality... No, it was perfect for the story. It's so cliché to give crowd favorites and main characters these big climactic fight scenes to show how good they held out, but that is not what is meant to be portrayed here, which in this case is that Darkseid is unstoppable, ruthless, and can do it all with ease.

You cut out the best part. Darkseid ordering a portion of lava to be boomtubed to Ooa to make a statement. Also, perfect time to call in a favor from the Blue or Indigo Lantern Corps. This is a New God you're facing. you can't just bum rush in and hope for the best. It's going to take a major effort just to tickle him and a concerted coordinated attack to hurt him. I'd be reaching out to ALL of the other 7 Corps (Red, Violet, Yellow, Indigo, Blue, Orange, and Ultraviolet) for help because the chips are already down and it's time to go all-in. We can either stand together, or conquered separately. Heck, I'd even ask if we knew how to reach the White Lantern just to say we tried. And where's Mogo during all of this? Even 8 assembled Lantern Corps, Mogo, a White Lantern, full cooperation, and weeks to plan, I'm pretty sure it would be a pyric victory at best.

I don’t think Darkseid was that strong or Lanterns that weak. Otherwise, the strike team effort would fall apart even with the Trigon shennanigan.

@@anton.chigrinetc.96 The Strike team took advantage of Darkseid's absence, the deployment of his forces, and a diversionary attack. Not to mention help from the inside and the sacrifice of the bulk of their lower-tier forces to jam the door closed. The assault on Oa was a dedicated planetary invasion. I'm assuming Darkseid took ParaDooms with him and had them busy elsewhere. He would call the ParaDooms to his side if he got pressed hard enough. Don't forget, Justice League War showed us what Hal Jordan can do to Darkseid solo, jack with a side order of squat. And Hal is one of the GL Corp's best in nearly every iteration where he's not compromised.

@@amazingtrooper5893 You're probably right. But if Larfleeze could be convinced that Darkseid wants to destroy his precious, he'd be spoiling for a fight pretty quick. It'd take some convincing, but once you sell him on that idea, he's going to go all in. You're never going to get him to fully cooperate, but you might be able to aim, and unleash him to make use of the ensuing chaos.

Realistically, even if John did manage to recharge the ring, he would have been dead in seconds anyway. The Green Lanterns in the New 52 movies seem to be almost helpless. The weird wolfman GL that was the last of the three didn't even make an attempt to defend himself, he just charged straight at Darkseid, no forcefield or anything. I'm not sure what he was planning to do, was he gonna physically punch him?

Eeeeeh John next to the source lantern has been worth a lot more than 1 recharged lantern more than once. If you wanted a chance at slaying a god he might have been it

Everyone outside this Universe as a Green Lantern: Our rings are not doing anything to Darksied, the beams bounce off! *focus* Imagine it, a beam as focused as a scalpel, sharped to an edge like a samurai sword. *focus* Fire! *Proceeds to have a constant beam pierce in and out of Darksied's head.

In old comic, Darkseid actually lose to Oa but guardians decide to keep him.

This movie is how you kill the justice league. Not by getting 1 A star villain 1 B star villain and 2 C (OR D+) star villains killing them off (I'm talking about the new suicide squad game)

You'd think any army force with fighting experience of ALL who have held the rings previously would have atleast come up with a sound strategy to take Darksied out rather than foolishly going headon.

Maybe the lanterns would have won if they made something other than green energy blast, like a chair or something.

They didn't have to wait until john completed his oath to destroy him like that. Making it look like he is about to do something just to be fried alive right before.

The power to create literally anything, anything in the universe so long as the bearer is strong of will enough… and the best they use it for is a few pew pews. Which are made even more useless against a few pew pews from Darkseid. Why do people defend this movie?

Like seriously, Darkseid's Omega Beams are basically known by everyone, deadly, maniable and able to destroyed almost everything made of flesh, they don't even tried to do a shield or something like a wall or else from some of them, when others could attack with something like a building falling on Darkseid. I know this was probably to show despair and must have been short due to the length of the movie, but still, what a stupid writing. It basically like seeing The Flash in the CW show being hit by a shot from Captain Cold when they're both on the streets, with distance between them. Or when some vilain escapes like 10' ago from the only exit you can see in a room, then The Flash says: "oh, he escapes". For Pete's sake, the dude can search an entire city in minutes, you tell me he can take the same door and check around? I like DC animated movies, but to be fair, i really appreciated more Batman animated series from 1990'. At least they putted some effort in the writing.

Darkseid's omega beams are way more powerful than Green Lantern's green laser no matter what color of the lantern, Darkseid could easily deal with them

I think that it also needs to be said that earlier in this movie, Darkseid hacked into Cyborg and was analyzing the heroes and their plans. He probably had been doing this for months/years so he had some of the most understandable “prep-time” of anyone, ever.

Lets be honest if this was a green lanterns plott or just a FAIR plott at the moment Jonh ended his oath he would have become ION ready to fight darksaid, and even if not he SHOULD have survived, green lanterns power should be faster than falling lava but NOOOO lets destroy the green lanterns batery with lava.....LAVA......not only that this movie was lore accurate either the guardias could have attempted to create a ION avatar before darksaid made any attack or the Highfather would have interfered with this, but that would have ruined the tone if the movie.....still the last escene with the Darkseid vs Trigon was pretty dope
