Darkglass Microtubes Infinity Review + presets!

Музыка

There's a new ‪@darkglasselectronics‬ pedal in town - how does it sound?
I've been using the Darkglass B7K as a baseline of my tones for many years now, and I've always wanted to have a great clean tone in the same package with it. This pedal gives me both of those, the Vintage Microtubes preamp, multiband modes and tons more!
Here's some things I'd want to see in future updates though:
- Compressor blend
- Gain reduction meter
Huge thanks to Darkglass for letting me check out this pedal! Check out full information for this pedal at www.darkglass.com/
Are you going to pick this pedal up? Download the presets I made for this video here, they're free!

    I've been looking at the ADAM for a couple of days now, not knowing if it was what i wanted and whatching this vid made me doubt it even more, i like most of nollys tweaks, but this pedal seems to be the ideal one for me since the adams distortion presets are way over the top for me. Anyways, great video, amazing licks, insane mastering and tones. Liked and suscribed! BTW kenob is now my new favorite word. Cheers mate!

    Great review, Subscribed. To be honest I just needed a compressor Pedal for when I practice bass to hear all the strings evenly without having to power up my entire home studio. However for as much as is packed in this baby this is one sick bang for the Buck. Sick for studio, but even sicker that now I hear you can even Gig with it without the need of an added Amp/cab, WOW! Between this and my Victory Kraken V4 Amp Pedal I have the entire string section covered lol. Show up with just 2 guitars and a back pack and not having to sacrifice that full analog tube warmth tone by using digital modelers like the Quad Cortex. Im so glad I didn't get that when it first came out. Love how DarkGlass got away with using Rotary Switches LOL which was the coolest thing about the Cortex anyway. Thats why they have patents guys. Im not a Pedal guy and hate FX, but every now and again a Pedal comes out thats so groundbreaking I have to add it to my collection and the insanely versatile Microtubes Infinity is no exception. Mine is arriving tomorrow, Cant Wait!

    Great review! For the balanced outputs on the pedal, are you using a TS or TRS cable to connect to an amplifier?

  • @Paajanenae

    @Paajanenae

    Жыл бұрын

    The safest bet would be to use a TS cable. You lose the 3dB of volume anyway but it will be more reliable - some amps only start passing signal once there is a TS cable connected to the input and many pedals are the same and a TRS cable won't work with these. Without a balanced input on your amp you won't ever gain the 3dB back and also using a TRS cable without a balanced connection at both ends won't benefit you in any way.

    No boost function/attack switch like the original B3k I guess? Its weird to me that the Photon has bite + the high shelf slider but the infinity has mid boost instead of the attack switch and the high shelf slider. Unless I missed it, always really liked that function on my B7k. you get the kind of tones from this unit that are good without it though, good vid.

  • @Paajanenae

    @Paajanenae

    Жыл бұрын

    Yeah, the Bite switch got removed from the B3K in v2! My understanding is that these days it's always on boost and there's an adjustable high-cut ("Tone") to control the top end. I too like the Bite-switch better, don't know why though because I hardly ever turn it to flat 😂

    Might've been broken with the update, but you should be able to find these presets in the Darkglass Preset Sharing Platform inside the app as well! Just search for Paajanenae 💪

    That's a great question! I honestly think that with the Infinity you get a lot more bang for your buck. I like how they put the Grunt switch inside the Suite instead of it being another drive mode. Then again, this doesn't really do anything like the tones Alpha Omega does. I didn't help, did I? :D

    @@Paajanenae Haha, don't worry, brother. I'll have to think long and hard about this while I continue to save the money for either one, anyway. I appreciate the review! One thing I can say is they are definitely producing fantastic pedals these days like hotcakes. Deciding which one becomes harder and harder every few months :')

    Same situation here. Should I get the AO Photon or Infinity? I play metal, drop D and some songs in C. Is infinity more versatile? How many tones can you dld from their app? Kiitos!

    How can I dial in a similar distortion tone like the B7K on my Microtubes 900 v2 head?

  • @Paajanenae

    @Paajanenae

    Using the B3K distortion mode on the head! The difference between a B7K and B3K is the added EQ on the B7K, the distortion on both is the same.

    @@LucasDellaporta No, it's in the front panel! Just press the Microtubes-button and make sure you've got the VMT/B3K switch in the B3K position. Then add some gain and blend it in with your dry signal and you're good to go!

    @@LucasDellaporta You're going to need a Dingwall at the very least, also trying to match the sound of an X series pedal with the B7K is not going to happen too easily. A lot of it is also string choice and playing technique, amp settings all need to be customized to fit your instrument and hands

    It has a wooly sound not wax headroom with clarity depth but when I hear it and recordings it can be great for it's inequality it just needs to have that powerful depth clean to start sometimes when pairing it maybe with that dark glass preamp b3k then running into that thing pretty cool but that pedal's got a wooly thing happeing and I'm not open to discussing it about I know what I hear and blah blah blah
