5.0 - My absolutely favorite games. You can pry them out of my cold dead hands.
4.5 - Love this game! At the same time missing something that would make it a 5. Could be hard to table, lacking variability, a little light, etc.
4.0 - Really great game, almost always keeping, although has meaningful complaints as to what takes away from the experience.
3.5 - Really enjoyed, don't love it, may lose out to better games but the idea of never playing again is a bit sad.
3.0 - A good game, would play and suggest with the right people, if I never played it again wouldn't lose any sleep.
2.5 - A game I'd play again , but will never suggest it myself
2.0 - A game I don't want to play again
1.5 - A game I can't find any reason to recommend
1.0 - A game that is just bad.

The player boards used cubes in the old core set. It's a much better design. Also, the only house rule I used in the old game was farming already completed encounters without having to play them again, sounds like I'll use that again. 😅

The boss fights are great. I guess SFG knows that and that is why there are mostly boss expansion to the old core set.

Also the reason why I backed Monster Hunter World.

@@eriklindqvist9923 I passed on MHW as I'm not into campaigns. I found out after the PM closed the second time that they may have had a really solid system to do one shot hunts, and now I'm slightly sad. Fortunately I think most of MHW will be at retail or direct from SFG.

@@derekgarcia3069 I didn't go all-in on MHW either. Just got the few KS exclusives and a base box. The rest will come to retail, as you say.

The most considerable doubt for me about buying it is the questionable amount of content. Meanwhile, the base game has way more different enemies and bosses, this gives us basically one local encounter.

Great to hear a fresh opinion. The new scenario cards and campaign tracker make the game way easier to get to the table, but the game would be way better as a series of boss fights and level ups.

I prefer the old character sheet designs than the new ones… Plus I loved how the old tiles put together made a full encounter area, this does take up less room and looks like a faster paced version, but in doing so cut back on alot

Most of your review could apply to the video game as well. Grinding in the video game is somewhat alleviated by the fun of exploration and finding new areas. The board game seems to be missing that aspect.

Great review. I would recommend Bloodborne as an alternative.

Heads up, it's Painted "World" of Ariamis. Or is that some kind of wordplay in the title that i'm not getting ? Either way, thanks for the vid !

Thanks man!!! I'm waiting my copy because i really like the theme and considering that i sux on the videogames... at least I don't need skills in the board game... I think

I can understand why the board is small since in the video game you are just concerned with dodging the enemy attacks movement wise.. Having a bigger board would not likely serve a purpose as you are not meant to outrun the enemy directly

Great review! This still sounds like a pass for me, but makes me keep thinking I should have backed MHW. Especially once I found out about the ability to do one-shot hunts, but I know most of it will be available later.

You should be able to get all of it honestly. I got into dark souls very late and I managed to get every set and exclusive and bonus.

have they fixed the pure RNG mess that was the base game? It was the biggest let down of the game based on a strategic rpg...

Bad core game, flawed system with grindy and lazy game and encounter design, stupidly overpriced expansions, poor components with lazy art design, typical SFG game, no thanks. But thanks for the review, always great to be able to verify! :)
